AMS Car Stereo & TINT

**WARNING**
This establishment is full of thieves!
I went in to see if they can troubleshoot a problem that I was having with my Subwoofers not functioning. I park and then walk in to talk to the guy at the front, and explain my problem to him. I show him to my car and he plays with the stereo and then he asks one of the workers to bring it in to the bay to inspect further. I am watching the worker get out a voltmeter and a bunch of tools and he starts the inspection.
The inspection took about 5 – 7 minutes of tinkering with my amplifier and my sub woofers. After the inspection the guy from the front told me that my amplifier was dead and that my left sub woofer was blown out. Before I can process what he told me, he was VERY quick to jump to the idea of taking me inside to sell me a new subwoofer and amp for $ 500. He shot down all my ideas of having them repaired and said, «It could NOT be fixed and that I should buy a new amp and subwoofer». I told him that I wasn’t in a position to spend $ 500 for new equipment. He said,“Ok” told the guy working on my car that I wasn’t going to get a new system installed and then just left without a goodbye or thanks for coming in. VERY rude and VERY poor customer service.
I explained how horrible their customer service is. This is the part where I get to explain why they are thieves. I have a friend who is good overall with everything. He is not experienced at all with stereo equipment. I call him and ask him to see if he can look at my sub woofers and amp. I drive to his house and explained what went on and and within 5 minutes I hear the incredibly loud bass in a song coming from my car, something that I haven’t heard in a while. HE FIXED IT! The amp was NOT bad, the left subwoofer was NOT blown out. Everything was PERFECTLY FINE. The issue was that the switches from the amp were not on the correct channel. THAT’S IT! He didn’t have to pull wires or tinker with the subs.
For the people at AMS to be so called «experts» and professionals, you would think that something so simple as moving the switches would be something that they would know to do. For AMS to put on that whole show and tell me TO MY FACE that they were broken and it was not repairable, and then want to sell me $ 500 worth of equipment. It’s unbelievable how un-​trustworthy this business is.
I will NEVER come to this business again and I will NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE.
DO NOT COME HERE! THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!

Make sure you check your windows and the tints. These guys are pretty bad at putting the tint close to edge of the window. Left about 3 cm gap to the edge.
Not only that. Lots of air bubbles/​scratches. They claimed it will «go away.» BS.
Went there 2 weeks later and asked them can they fix the tint on my brand new car. And basically gave me zero F*@k.
Afterward I went to MISTER TINT. Not only they fixed AMS’s job. They also stood behind their work unlike AMS and helped me. No wonder why they have a higher rating and reviews.
If you guys want the job to done right. Go to tint shop. Not a stereo shop.

Had AMS install my sub/​amp on a brand new 2015 MINI Cooper S. Unknowingly, the MINI Cooper comes with noise cancelling features that cause extra power to be pushed to amp causing an unpleasant noise after the upgrade. I brought the vehicle back and RJ helped take care of me in a HUGE way. It took another 2 hours of diagnosing and research on their part to find out how to handle this unique issue. They fixed the issue a few days after their research and car and sound are perfect. I know I was a trouble customer and my vehicle was not easy to work on, so thank you for your patience and standing by your work and making me a happy customer.

These guys are great. I called them to get an estimate for a new head unit and installation of my 2 12′ sub’s. They told me to come in and check out some options. Once I got there they did an awesome job at finding the right head unit for me and hooked up my sub’s within minutes!

These guys are great! RJ is a nice guy who knows what he’s doing. Very accommodating and makes sure the work is done correctly. Thank you!

AMS has great service and great selection, save your self the wasted time and aggravation of dealing with B*** B** or F***‘s and go to AMS. Their work was spotless and very fast.

AMS had another location owned by Cliff’s brother, that was located off of Camden. That place actually installed headrest monitors and a NAV unit for me many years ago.
This review however is strictly in reference to my visit to this location about a month ago. I spoke to Cliff briefly, and told him that my Kenwood NAV unit was now experiencing bad radio reception, and could not recognize an iPhone or iPod being connected to the existing cable installed by the other AMS location (which is no longer around). Cliff encouraged me to take the vehicle in, and he would take a look at it to see if they could figure out the problem.
After dropping the car off, Cliff calls me 15 minutes later, and tells me that the installation of the NAV unit was very sloppy. I asked him if he could re-​install the unit and recess it more into the dash, but he said it was not possible. This is where he lost me as a customer. He then started his pitch to try an up-​sell me to a new unit that would cost over 2k installed. Really? I went in there with only one intention, and that was to fix the existing unit. He even told me to think about it for 15 minutes and to call him back when they are done putting things back together.
Long story short, the only thing they did to my vehicle was hit a reset button located on the front. If I had done my research prior to going there, I would have saved myself $ 80. Cliff wanted to charge me $ 120, but I told him that was a ridiculous price for someone hitting a reset button, and telling me to spend 2k on a new unit. By hitting the reset button, the only thing accomplished was getting the iPhone/​iPod adapter to connect again. The spotty radio reception was still an issue. On top of throwing away $ 80 here, these guys even managed to scratch part of my dash located underneath the NAV. This was definitely not what I expected.
As you can imagine, I will not be going back to this place ever again. Some of the folks I remembered from the past are no longer there. All of the veteran installers are gone, so I would be cautious. Whenever I see high turnover with installers, that is always a bad sign.

This is officially my go to place when I want to install something (just about everything) in my car. Big ‘RJ’ and Cliff are super helpful and the most reasonable guys you will meet when it comes to pricing. Make sure you talk to one of them.
This place specializes in car stereos and tinted windows, but they can pretty much do whatever type of customization you need.
So far I have come to these guys on multiple occasions to install a rear spoiler, install a bypass switch in my car radio, install fog lightbulbs, and install aluminum sport pedals in my car. I always researched prices for installation in other places, but these guys were always the most reasonable.
As far as all the work they have done, 3 months strong and everything is still working as it should. The best part about their work they do a superb job and you can’t even tell it was done.
I HIGHLY recommend going to these guys for any auto customization installation needs you have. I haven’t had experience with their tint or audio installation, but I wouldn’t hesitate to go to them first.

Everytime I have a problem they always help! The speaker on my newly purchased Blackvue dash cam went out. I called Blackvue support and they said to see if the dealer would replace it. I went to AMS and without hesitation they replaced it.
They have my future business for sure and I WILL refer them to all my friends!

Went in for a quote on window tint. Got a great deal and was done fast. Great customer service and very knowledgeable. RJ was great and so are all of the employees. Great place. Will be back for a stereo upgrade.

AMS were recommended to me by my usual mechanic, so i drove down to check them out. I already had a pretty good idea of what stereo I wanted, but they offered some additional suggestions on reusing the existing steering wheel controls, and some other available options. All very helpful, and they matched the price that I’d seen online.
The biggest surprise was when I asked how soon they could do the installation. I was expecting parts to be ordered, and an appointment after they came in. However, they had everything they needed in stock and started immediately.
Very happy with the install, the steering wheel controls act as they originally did, and the USB connections are mounted in great locations. Highly recommended.

I came here to get Pioneer CarPlay system installed for my Mustang. RJ helped my out and gave me a fair quote and also explained what each part was and why I needed it. The installation went well and they gave me a ride home. I also decided after looking into it to get my windows tinted, RJ gave me a fair quote and went for it. Oh man it looks SO GOOD.
There has been a few problems with the parts they installed (, but every time RJ and the crew at AMS has gone above and beyond to make sure my car was working perfectly, spending time on the phone with tech support and not just making me live with bad parts. And of course not charging me extra labor to fix these problems is also a bonus.
Seriously if you need stereo equipment or TINT come see RJ and the crew over at AMS and they’ll help you out!

So I did the Amazon thing looking for a good alarm system that I would install. After reading the reviews and how to video’s, I came to the conclusion that I didn’t know anything…
I have been driving past AMS for about 18 years now. I always knew about them but never used their services due to age and figuring life out…
Fast forward to now, I went over to their place and I told them I am looking for a alarm system. A good one as I live on a busy street with about 300 cars going by each day and I don’t want the alarm system going off like some of the other alarms system you hear your neighbor/​self displeased about.
They suggested The Drone Alarm System for my vehicle. I agreed to purchase the system. After having it for a few months. I quickly found zero false alarm. One evening the alarm went off and ran out there like wtf. then when it was daylight I found a nice size clay sand pile by my work van and dirt from the clay on my window. I cursed… then smiled because the alarm is actually working like I want it to without stupid false alarms. The system came with sensors for the van. If you put your hand in the open window when the car is armed the system will go off. If you break the window the system will go off. Every time my work van alarm went off was due to my error or the one incident… I would get a distinct SOMETHINGS WRONG honking on my smart phone using the APP. So far zero false alarms when the super loud annoying bikes comes roaring by. There is a mobile app for the phone which will let you know your work van was broken into, while MILES away. The GPS locator services costing $ 99 a year. Speaking of which when your car is stolen you can follow your car using the mobile app gps features (google maps) while contacting the police of where its exact location is. You will be able to see everything that is going on with your car.
I just love the Drone alarm system which was professionally install by the AMS crew. There pricing is super fair. I actually suggest getting AMS to install DRONE instead of your car dealership alarm system, which I found to be completely useless when a burglar broke my car’s window and stole all my stuff and the system never went off. I PAID MORE FOR THAT PIECE OF SHIT!!!

I have to say AMS is the best and most professional place to get any audio system installed. They are masters of their craft. I had a terrible original installation at another store and came to AMS and RJ was very supportive and gave me personally the best customer service experience ever he took me step by step on how to reinstall my wires what needed to be done and fixed and helped me get a deal on some new subwoofers. My car needed extra work and the staff was not hesitant at all to tackle the problem and provide the cleanest and most precise installation. Overall this place is the without a doubt the best place to come for any audio needs they are experts and have now earned another loyal customer. Thank you AMS and a special thanks to RJ!

I brought my car to AMS today to have Bluetooth installed (I’d bought my own kit but became frustrated after running into issues). Cliff assisted me and he went above & beyond to help identify the best way to get it done. Even though I brought my own BT kit (purchased elsewhere), Cliff took the time to call the vendor’s technical support and get more info for me. He then advised that I could save money by doing the installation myself. I was impressed that he took the time to help me out without pushing AMS’s services — I felt he truly wanted to make me happy even if I didn’t spend a dollar at AMS.
In the end, I had AMS do the installation. They discovered the real problem (not what the vendor had identified) and got my setup working in less then 2 hours. I’m very happy with their service and I highly recommend them to anyone.

I’ve had several vehicles sound systems
made bad-​ass with these guys. they are willing to work with a budget, and the results are amazing, and the work is done fast. highly recommended.

I went to see the guys at AMS Car Stereo for a weird need. About a year ago, I managed to fumble-​finger a key into my CD player in my Volvo XC90. Then last week, I forgot it was in there and popped a CD in, only to have the CD player go into a perpetual grinding loop of trying to load and then eject the CD. I called the dealership, and they said it could cost as much as $ 1100 to get it out.
The dealership recommended AMS, so I called them up. Robert was gracious and kind (and didn’t laugh at my clumsiness!), and quoted me 1 – 2 hours of labor to get the CD and key out — he said if they couldn’t, he would call me to talk about alternative plans. They were able to successfully get both the CD and key out, and the quote was as promised.
Thank you, Robert! Thank you, too, for the advice about the sub-​woofer — we’re still figuring out what approach we want to take, but you’re on our list if we decide to proceed.
