Noe came out to my home to aerate the lawn and was able to accommodate my schedule which was really appreciated. Prices were very reasonable. He arrived very close to the scheduled time, did the job, and cleaned up all of the dirt and fertilizer that fell onto the street. Noe is very courteous and personable in dealing with his customers. I would definitely recommend Ark’s Rotarea Aeration Service!

I’ve recently learned that some companies are offering discounts to their customers in exchange for 5-​star reviews, which undermines the review quality at Unilocal.This review is being written on my own, not in exchange for a discount or anything like that.
We moved into a new house with a small lawn that was in poor shape. I decided I really want an «eco lawn» rather than a traditional lawn so I’m allowing some wildflowers and weeds grow in the grass to allow it to be more native, drought-​tolerant, etc. I knew I needed to aerate, potentially de-​thatch, and then overseed the entire lawn. I also knew the dead and bare spots required additional effort. I spent way too much time calling and talking to (and in some cases, meeting in person) people who either didn’t understand what I was trying to do (in some cases, there was a language barrier that made things difficult), didn’t agree with what I wanted to do (lawn purists, I guess), or were so expensive that it didn’t even make sense. And of course, there were some that simply didn’t respond at all.
Noah was responsive, friendly, helpful, professional, and had the best price of anyone who could do it all. (I did find someone who could aerate for less, for example, but then I was going to need to manage all the other pieces myself, and it ended up sounding like too much of a hassle). Noah showed up promptly when he said he would, did exactly what he said he would, and charged exactly what he said he would. Sounds basic, but for anyone who has been dealing with landscapers and gardeners in the last few years in the bay area, you realize how exceptional that can be.
Noah told me I didn’t need to de-​thatch. To me, this speaks of integrity. It saved me money and cost him business, but he is honest and told me what I needed (and what I didn’t need). He ended up aerating, seeding, composting, and even moving one of the sprinklers to ensure the water gave the new grass the best chance of survival.
After Noah left, I overseeded the entire lawn with microclover and some other wildflowers. After 2 weeks, I pulled out the dandelions (too invasive and I don’t like them) but left all other weeds/​wildflowers in. Our new lawn is a mixture of things, but it doesn’t require any fertilizer (Noah did suggest gypsum this summer, since it is kid-​friendly even if one of my toddlers ends up eating some), takes a lot less water, and requires less maintenance than a typical lawn. I am sure most of Noah’s customers have «pure» lawns, but I appreciate that he was willing to work with me on what we really wanted, which is a much more eco-​friendly version of a lawn. As you can see in the picture, when it’s mowed it looks like a normal lawn.
I would highly recommend Noah to anyone who needs lawn repair, overseeding, or to grow grass in bare spots. We still have some very sparse grass in certain spots that were bare, and now I know I need to focus on the soil in those areas before we seed again. Overall, it was well worth the cost to have Noah perform the work, and we’re pleased with the results.

I initially used Ark’s for just aerating my lawn, but Noah’s been really great with helping me with other landscaping issues, too. Recently he worked on all of my front and backyard sprinklers and replaced all of the broken ones, moved around the ones that were not spraying effectively, and capped the ones that I no longer needed. Now I don’t have any weird brown areas on my lawn where the sprinklers were no longer reaching the grass because of the hedge or other now-​mature plants being in the way. This also means that I’m not wasting water anymore, which was important to me. He also was great in removing a bunch of invasive periwinkle plants that had almost completely taken over my rose bushes in the front. My front yard now looks nice and landscaped instead of overgrown with one plant taking over. I found also Noah to be extremely nice and professional, and always willing to answer questions. His prices are very competitve, too. I would highly recommend him!

Noah is very pleasant and easy to work with. Responsible, reliable and reasonable. He picked up the phone both times I called and arrived to aerate within a few days of my call (I am still waiting for the other outfit I called to even return my phone call). They came exactly when they said they would to aerate the lawn and did a great job. On the scheduling call Noah went over with me what to do to prepare the lawn for aeration. The plugs they pulled out are nice and deep. They checked all the sprinklers beforehand to mark any sprinklers in the lawn to prevent breakage. They cleaned up after themselves. They started with a clean rotor and also cleaned the rotor after they were finished. I have signed on to have then come aerate our lawns every spring and fall now.

Noah is wonderful! I called on a Sunday, he picked up the phone and was very friendly and helpful. He came over to my house the next day and charged me a very reasonable rate for his services (aeration, fertilizing). He even fixed a sprinkler head for free the same day he came to give me an estimate, stopping by later in the day and said to just pay him for the cost of the broken part. His service was above and beyond and I would recommend him to anyone!

I used Ark’s for the first time in the spring and had a great experience. They were prompt in returning my call, able to come out within a couple days, did the work as promised and charged a very fair price. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Will be using them each spring /​fall as long as this level of service keeps up!

If I could give Ark’s 10 stars I would. Dependable, knowledgeable, and superior service. Noah not only picks up the phone, but he returns your phone call promptly. (We tried contacting two other companies and it took them a day to call back!)
Noah shows up on time and does honest work. I’ve had bad experiences with other companies. Noah certainly does not try to sell you on extras – He just makes his honest recommendations.
