Atlas School of Dance

So My daughter has been coming here since August 2015 when she turned 4 years old and taking dance here for Tap and ballet on Saturdays she loves this studio it’s an older place but still well we’ll keep up, Very clean and teacher and owners are really nice they have dance for little one all the way up to adults. Her teacher Adrianna is really nice and patient with all the little dancers age 4 – 5 class that my daughter is in. They even except boys to dance and have nice Christmas Recitail and now we will be attending The June Recitial. Shorlty. I high recommend this studio for your little one or any age. I’d give a 100 stars if I could best place ever. I visited other places not nice and very rude. I love this place

My daughter has been enrolled at Atlas for over 5 years… our classes have included tap/​jazz/​hip hop and the tiny dancer class when she was 2.5. I love this school, the teachers/​staff and everything in between. The etchers are very patient & knowledgable

Finally, a review for my humble dance abode that I visit every Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday! First off, I really like how spacious this studio is — there is a dance studio on the first floor, as well as the upper floor. The lower floor’s studio is one of the smaller ones, but can definitely accommodate a classroom size of about 5 – 10 dancers. Now, the top floor is for a bigger team or class to dance on and that’s where I get my funk on! Also, there are two bathrooms (very useful for when you and your teammates are chugging gallons of water at a long 5-​hour dance practice) on the lower floor. Overall, this studio is well-​kept and organized and I am happy to be here three times a week :)

I go to Atlas and I love it! The teachers are so nice and perfect for dance classes! I love how upstairs is big and downstairs is small. Also, they use mats which is safe for me and everyone. And the dances are very pretty and will made by teachers. Also, the classes are well managed and organized. And also I would just like to say that I LOVE Atlas and it’s a very great dance school!

I have two of my three young daughters here. The smallest is too young to dance, (1), or I would have her dancing also. My oldest has danced here since she was a tiny dancer 4 years ago. Here’s my opinion; hope it helps.
Pros:
*The staff they have here is excellent. Very patient with children, and very understanding with parents.
*If you’re a new «dance mom», then be sure to ask questions. I was not a dancer when I was younger, so everything was new to me.
*Fees are reasonable compared to other dance centers in the area.
*They offer three fund raising opportunities during the year, and one of them we can earn up to 40% of total sales! That is a huge help to pay for recital fees.
*All fees and charges are listed up front, so there is no confusion, including in the recital agreement, which we get in January for a June recital. If you do happen to lose track of when or if you paid, call or email them and they will let you know. They don’t do monthly paper billing, which saves on costs for all. I’m all about saving money.
*My daughter has clearly advanced since she first started. She was taking both tap and ballet classes this past year, and what they cover in an hour is remarkable. She is still small (7), but she was able to dance with the bigger kids and keep up. Last year she tried a more advanced ballet class (8 – 12 year olds) and did well. She was never discouraged for not doing something right, but taught the correct way, pushed a little bit and encouraged to keep moving, which boosted her confidence. THAT deserves 5 stars by itself.
Cons:
*The lobby/​waiting area is small. Yep, that’s it. :)
So, if you’re looking for a place for your kids to dance and have fun, try Atlas.

This studio is extremely high quality. For starters, the building itself was custom made as a dance studio, not just an old building that owners tried to make work. The floors are professional and the rooms are large. The instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly. Their adult dance classes have been unmatched in my book. I have done my share of studio shopping, and the adult classes elsewhere are always an afterthought. Here I am challenged, and I grow as a dancer. Other places, I am just bored. My favorite aspect is that the recital benefits an organization and is not for profit, way to help out the community! :) Atlas has always been a fun and friendly environment. Thanks for making dance such a wonderful experience!

My daughter was enrolled in a tiny dancer class for 2010 – 2011. The class itself was fine. They don’t learn as much ballet technique as I’d like, but they are young, so whatever.
The strength of this school is tap. If you want your child to be a tap star, this is the place for you. However, what I observed at their recital for other genres, especially ballet, was not impressive (and I danced from age 8 through college, so I know a little about dance). The technique just wasn’t as strong as it should have been outside of tap.
The location seemed convenient until you realize how impossible it is to get in and out of there with small kids. The door is on the opposite side of the building from the parking, so you have to get all kids out of the car to go in with you. The waiting area is incredibly small. Getting my «tiny dancer» to/​from class was a huge pain, especially because I had a younger child to wrangle as well.
The recital is what pushed me over the edge. The fees are insane – ever time I went, I was writing another check for «recital tights» or whatever. Why on EARTH do they hold it across the valley in Santa Clara? Are there no other venues closer to the studio? You get to schlep your child (ren) across the valley in rush hour traffic for multiple rehearsals and THREE performances. This might be great for older kids, but 2 – 8 year olds? No thank you. Just put them in a tutu and let them do a show for the parents in the studio. And why does it have to be on Father’s Day weekend?
I witnessed one little girl who was maybe 2 who cried every time she was on stage. The first time I felt bad. The second time I thought maybe her parents would pull her from the show. She cried through EVERY rehearsal and ALL performances. It was just cruel, and then to top it off I heard her crazy dance mom telling her she didn’t get some sort of treat because she didn’t do her dance. I realize this is more a criticism of her parenting than of the studio, but the studio allows these young students, who should be there for the experience, not the performance, to be there and then makes it such a financial investment for the parents that they don’t want to pull their child out, so I feel they should take some of the «blame» here.
In summary: if you have an older child, are into tap, and don’t mind schleping to SCU during rush hour for a week for the recital, the actual instruction was ok. For me, I want a studio that focuses more on technique (specifically, ballet) and less on the «show.»

Been going here for 10 years with 2 daughters. The teaching staff is educated and the management staff is wonderful. Keep in mind nothing is every perfect when your running the show for this many people. I feel they do a good job. If there is a complaint they’ll listen.

Haven’t had any problems and my daughter really enjoys the classes for 2 and 3 year-​olds. The price is reasonable and the teachers are very patient. At that age, it is like trying to herd cats but they seem to be able to get the kids involved and learning some steps. My daughter really looks forward to it all week.
