History

Established in 2005.

The Cartridge World store in the Westgate West Shopping Center in San Jose was opened in 2005.

The current owners, Chris Care and Katy Kao, purchased the store in 2007. Prior to becoming owners, they both worked at the Cartridge World Corporate Headquarters in Emeryville, CA.

Chris Care started in the warehouse 2004, then moved onto the Training Dept where he trained franchisees from all over the country. In 2006, Chris Care worked in the Technical Department doing R&D and created technical support documents for the franchise.

Katy Kao went to school at UC Berkeley and interned with the Corporate office in 2005 as a Marketing Intern. Upon graduation, she started working there full time in the Marketing Department.

They were in the Westgate West Shopping Center from until May 31, 2013. On June 1, 2013, they moved their operation to 2206 Ringwood Ave., San Jose, CA 95 131.

Stopped by here earlier today hoping to get a refill on ink. Unfortunately they don’t carry the ink I needed. Perhaps I should have called ahead but figured I’d drop by since I was in the area. However, they did leave me with a good first impression. This would definitely be some place I would go if I needed to get an ink refill.
The employee who greeted me was quick, friendly, and responsive. Although he told me they don’t refill the ink I had anymore, he was very polite.
It wasn’t too hard to find this place if you have gps but keep an eye out for the place if you aren’t familiar with the area. There are many other businesses in the complex and luckily I spotted their van out back and just had to drive around the building to find the entrance to their place.
Although I was a little bummed I couldn’t get what I needed, definte props for their customer service.

My office has been ordering and refilling our cartridges at this location for some time now. This was my first time personally making an order, and it was an ease doing so. I spoke with Markus and he was very knowledgeable and remembered our office.
He was very thorough and was able to answer all questions that I had. Prices are reasonable as we get them delivered straight to our office.
Definitely contact Markus there if you’re looking to refill your ink!

What a hidden gem! My roomate and I needed to get rid of some electronics that were overstaying their welcome at our house. She informed me of a location in downtown San Jose but I came here since it was on the way home from work. This place is really hidden and you wouldn’t know its there unless you searched for it. When I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly guy. I told him I had a few things to drop off. He graciously went to get me a cart to load my items. While helping me load we made small talk. He was very appreciative I came by. And the best part? It’s FREE! I will go back! Highly recommend if you have electronics to safely get rid of.

TL;DR? Fast, friendly service. Cheapest Cartridge World I’ve seen around!!! Ask for student discount if you have school ID. Weird location for first timers. Not a regular CW store, more like an office setting.
I got lost trying to find this place! Remember there are odd and even numbered buildings on the left and right sides of the street… I went to 2205 Ringwood and was stumped until I mustered up some courage to ask a random stranger. It was somewhat frustrating trying to find this business as there were no obvious signs directing traffic there. It’s nested in a row of random businesses and is identified by a single banner above their doors.
I visited this place to refill my Canon Pixma ip3000 black and magenta cartridges, and it was conveniently near my friend’s house. As I entered the establishment, the male employees greeted me quickly and I proceeded to hand them my cartridges. They retrieved the cartridges in 2 minutes and was ringing me up. They recently got a new credit card machine that is electronically compliant with new security measures– to which I appreciate their efforts. Luckily I read Unilocal prior to my experience here and asked if they did a student discount. The male employee was not sure but gave me 10% discount anyway. Both of my cartridges were under $ 7. It was glorious and cheap cause I’m thriftyyy!

First, hats off to Unilocal.And fellow Unilocalers. I use it for so many things now, even something as supposedly simple as getting refilled ink cartridges.
You have to figure if someone can make a business success by doing something rather common, but yet better than everyone else — then you have to be good. I was going to go to Staples, or Office Depot — but I thought I’d just Unilocal a business looking for printer ink, or ink refill — I forget which term. And I located these guys — then read the reviews. So I drove an extra 12 miles total to go see them (calling them first to make sure they had my Cannon ink cartridges. They did. And when I arrived they even had them laid out and ready to go.
I put them in when I got home, no mess — no fuss, and works fine. I thought it would be so, and even if I bought from the other guys it would be so. But the other guys you can’t even get to come over to an aisle and help you find what you need, let alone the average retail clerks at these stores has so many products, they are an expert on none. Yeah, they work out, but this was easy, less expensive than most of these chain stores (except ordering on line maybe, but then you don’t know what your gonna get)… and they are decent folks.
A long review for such a simple task — but it’s getting the simple things right that makes a business succeed. These guys have that nailed. I’ll recommend them to business friends and friends in general.

These guys are great! I am a local business owner and I definetely appreciate a good business when I see one. I have an older printer at our shop and when our toner is low I usually reorder them online. Our order had not come in yet so, I looked for someone local and discovered Cartridge World. This place had my particular toner in stock and they even gave me a discount for finding them on Unilocal!We will definetly be doing business in the future. Thanks guys!

I can see why this place has been so highly rated after going there. I didn’t expect too much, it’s just an ink refill, what else is going to happen? But the service is beyond friendly, this is why small businesses will continue to live.
The ink refill was done professionally, they swap out inks if they already have it in stock, or they refill onsite which takes a few minutes (compared to 1 – 2 hours for others). The staff and I had a good chat while waiting.
I’ve been printing some design projects with lots of color and compared it to the original ink, I couldn’t tell the difference. For about a fraction of the price, it was a no-​brainer to come here for my future refills.
What they did to win my future business forever was extraordinary. There was a small problem with one of the yellows inks for my photo printer, they were willing to stay 30 minutes past their office hours to swap it out for me, so I could get a project done on time.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been excited about a business, this is definitely one store that all other businesses should model themselves after to ensure customer loyalty.

I can now print color and B&W on my inkjet without wincing, thanks to the quality and price of the replacement ink at cartridge world. This is an easy solution to the expense dilemma of inkjets.
I had an print job emergency late on a Saturday night. I called, realizing that this was one place I could get to, but they were about to close. I explained my dilemma, and they were willing to wait until I got there. The cartridges work as well as the official expensive ones and are even refillable. This is THE place to buy ink from.

I’ve been going to Cartridge World for a few years now. I’ll drive the extra miles to Chris and Katy’s store. I know they will always provide quality replacements and great service. My previous printer was going out. I called and spoke to Marcus who works there. He helped me determine it was my old printer ink pads and not the cartridges causing my problem. I had to buy a new printer which required different cartridges. They happily allowed me to return the unused products so I get new ones to fit.
Everyone in this shop is so friendly and helpful. I recommend them because you know you’re getting quality products and service.

Seriously I almost threw my printer out the window… twice, but katy (owner) calmed me down and asked me what cartridges I was using. As we all know, cartridges can get pricy and if you dont know which ones last longer, katy will. She not only helped me choose the best cartridges but also helped me save a lot of money.

I didn’t realized until about 10 minutes ago that my fax/​printer did not have ink in it. This is a problem as I have to sign a legal paper and send it back but I can’t get the fax without ink. Being that I have clients coming in, I was stuck at my office and I can’t leave to get ink myself, I called Katy Kao of Cartridge World.
There is a Cartridge World around the corner from my work, but because I knew Katy, I called her store to see if there’s any way she can bring me some ink and save my day.
She stated that they normally don’t do same day delivery but she WILL come by and drop it off for me.
From now on, no matter what my needs are when it comes to Ink, I will always go to Katy of Cartridge World Westgate West Center. Support small business owners who really care about others like Katy.
