ClearView Retractable Screens

Let me start in the beginning
1. Husband called to get someone to come out for a quote since we have very large and long doors — different than the average height
2. Dan came to our home and informed us that this is not for a quote — they don’t come out for quotes and that this is for measuring and taking first payment and that we (the customers mind you) may have misunderstood, but that it is always good to retrain… but his «girls» at the office really know what they are doing
3. We read really good reviews, and said fine let’s go ahead and do it. Paid our first half of the payment (1200) with the second half being due after installation is complete.
4. Sean came over to install the doors — great guy, did a great job — I was super happy. I called them to take my second payment (1200). Girl on the phone said yup, no problem it’s all paid.
5. A couple of days later there is another charge for 1200 on my credit card
6. I try to call the company from 8 a.m. to about 8:40 thinking they would be open, did not want to call Dan on his personal cell out of courtesy.
Note — We are very particular about our credit — we always pay off our credit cards in full, hate to have any type of balances on there — so I freak out at this point because I’m thinking my credit card number is in full view for anyone at that office, even though i was promised that it would be shredded.
7. Dan answers and he says he will look into it — but that something like this has NEVER happened — so here again it’s the customer who is crazy.
8. In the meantime (since i left messages at corporate) Nicole from corporate calls me back and says «yeah there was a mistake but it’s voided.» No apology, no I sincerely apologize, we should have called and let you know, none of that. I’m really upset at the indifference in her tone and point blank ask her why my information was not shredded like I was told to which she replies that they don’t shred the information, they scan it in in case we ever need anything in the future. At this point, I was lied to about my information being secure. She asks me if i want the information shredded so i can hear the shredder — I said absolutely
9. Dan calls me back and wants to know why I had to call corporate when he said he would take care of it and that I made Nicole cry — basically, asking me if I ever made a mistake at work… etc. turned into a half hour conversation where he had to say to me over and over again how special he is that as a manufacturer he’s giving his personal cell phone to me and how his «girls» never make a mistake and in four years there was never a mistake.
So here’s my honest recap — great products, you definitely get what you pay for as it is more expensive than other companies — however, in my opinion they could be more professional and the receptionists/​accounting need to learn to be more courteous to the customers that call. Very disorganized in their communications and one person says one thing while the office says another.

What a wonderful experience. We ordered two retractable screens (patio and front door), and Doug showed up on time to complete the install. The patio slider was completed and looks absolutely fabulous, and operates so smoothly! But what impressed up the most was Doug’s customer service! When he noticed that the front door installation should be different than originally anticipated, he discussed those recommendations, and advised us on the impact. While that meant the front door install occurred two weeks later, he did not push any additional cost on us. We found that so refreshing… Way to go Doug!

Very happy with our new retractable screen doors. My husband was skeptical when I mentioned that I wanted to place them on our french doors leading to the backyard, but he too is thrilled with the end product. Doug and Mike have been very easy to work. So pleased that we can now have fresh air in the house and no bugs:)

The most professional company I know!!! Great customer service and products. They really upgrade your home’s look and make a huge difference. Will definitely be using them again once we move to a bigger house.

We have dogs and the screen was knocked off and I text doug fields he set an appt and showed up right on time and reset the screen and fixed it for us as well as providing some stickers to identify when the screen is open. Cool product solid salesman. I’m sure if I have any other issues doug won’t hesitate to come help!

The customer service is beyond excellent. If you have a problem they will fix it. The door is beautiful.

This company has a very cool product with retractable sliding screens for doors. We had 2 installed on the front door and patio door… the house is a lot cooler, no bugs and it’s a magnetic mechanism so it’s ease of use is great. A little silicon spray occasionally and the door slides just like new… the local rep, Doug, dropped by to check in and add a larger magnet to the patio door b/​c we have a windy days that rattle the door loose… works superb now.

I love my new screen. I haven’t had any problems with it at all, even after someone’s wife has nearly walked through it twice in the same day!
Install tech arrived on time as requested and was finished up in less than a half hour.
I must get two or three compliments on it weekly and I’ve referred Andy and ClearView to many many friends, family and the occasional stranger that comes to the door and falls in love with the idea.

We just got our ClearView screens installed on two French Doors. Doug came by and measured the screen doors and we scheduled a time to have them installed. They showed up right on time and did a wonderful job installing them. Cleaned up and made sure everything was perfect and reviewed the operation of the doors with me. The screens look great and don’t detract at all from the wonderful large French Doors in our family room. With young kids around I also love the slow retraction so that they are not being slammed all the time. We can now enjoy a warm summer breeze without bugs. With the quality construction I look forward to having these around for a very long time. Highly recommended!!!

I *love* my retractable screen! Doug did a great job and was as good as his word on everything. He came on time, measured quickly and in 2 weeks returned, again on time, worked (neatly) for about an hour and I had my door. Fresh air and a great view! It’s been a couple months and there have been no issues. When it’s retracted, you barely notice it unless you’re looking. Can’t say enough good things about the door, Doug or the whole process.

Clearview screens has been wonderful. Doug and his dad are very friendly and knowledgeable. We love love our retractable screen and Doug. The door itself is really great but Doug also came back and fixed my old screen door. Awesome job

Doug was responsive and followed up immediately. He arrived promptly, called before arriving and was polite, professional and prompt. It turns out that the hardware was not a good fit for my unusual door, so he did not recommend installation. Awesome and honest.

We stopped in to look at the french door screens. We are sick and tired of replacing regular screens on our patio doors that eventually fall off their tracks and are rendered useless. They bend and we really would like something retractable.
We got a quick overview from the receptionist and grabbed a brochure. Prices are quite high. About $ 900+ for two screens for french doors, and stoppers on each side so you can open each side independently ($ 40 each!). We haven’t pulled the trigger yet because of the cost.

Thanks to Andrew this business will thrive. He reached out to me after the review I left and resolved all issues and went above and beyond to rectify the situation. I was so happy with his customer service I went ahead and ordered another retractable screen for my back door. Installation was a breeze and the installer showed up on time like promised.

We were thinking of getting a screen door for our front door, to improve air cross-​flow in the house, and saw ClearView at the Menlo Park street fair. I called them, and Doug Fields came out to take the measurements, and promised it would be installed in 2 weeks. As promised, Gavin was scheduled to install the screen on a Sunday at 11:00 AM, which was great for us. At 11;45, no Gavin, so I called Doug, who was driving down from Sacramento. He said he would call back, which he did, and said that Gavin fell ill (me thinks too much fun on Saturday night). Here’s why the 5 stars — Doug said that he would be there at 1:00 to do the installation. On his day off. He installed it within 45 minutes, the screen works perfectly, and our house is much cooler. It’s a great product, but more importantly, Doug Fields is a stand-​up guy! THANK YOU!!!

After researching the various retractable screens on the market, I went with Clearview based on reviews and specs. Doug came out a few days after I called him and installed the screen in about an hour and a half. The screen looks great, operates perfectly, and is of very high quality.
The reason I’m writing a review, is that about a year after installation, the screen needed minor repair. I called Doug and to my surprise, he came to the house and fix the issue about an hour after I contacted him! I have been working with a lot of contractors over the last couple years and I’ve never seen such quick turn around.

Visited some friends a couple weeks back and couldn’t help but notice their front sliding screen door that didn’t snap back when opened; how well it fit, how well it looked and how well it appeared to be constructed. They were very happy with the screen door and referred me to Clear View. I was already somewhat familiar with sliding screen doors as they were installed prior to my moving here on the two French doors in the back. However, I didn’t call that company for installation of a front door because frankly, their screen doors «SNAP» open and they don’t look that great (I’ve already had to have them both repaired in less than 3 years living here). So, I took a chance on Clear View and I couldn’t be happier. Dan came out, measured, gave me some color choices, options, estimates, etc., and the pricing was reasonable for the quality. He was knowledgeable, courteous and timely. Clear View called me thereafter and promised an installation date and not only was the Sean there on the date, but he was able to come out 3 hours earlier! Sean did a great job on installation and explained everything. Again, knowledgeable, courteous, timely; delivered as promised. The door looks and works great! In fact, I’m having them install a whole house fan in the near future. Highly recommend this company.

The idea is great. perfect for the exterior installation, not so sure for interior: would be much more conspicuous.
Construction is good and sound. Screen material is pretty durable: several times people run into the closed screen and no tears yet.
I would say they still have a room for improvement in terms of how the whole thing looks: option of the square minimalist housing would be great, a few other things and they would be perfect!
Installation was good: fast, careful with our stuff.
Service department also have room for improvement: near immediate response on first call, then few weeks of not returning my calls when it was time to install.
Although, as far as I understand they are pretty small company, so stuff happens. They were pretty flexible and responsive overall, so no problem: 4 stars!
