Color Me Mine

When I arrived they told me I’ll only have 45 mins to paint. I was fine with that. What I hate was for like 10 mins my son and I had to wait for someone to help us. We didn’t know what to do. I mean do we just grab a piece and start painting? The two star is for a worker there who actually saw we were struggling and told us how the process went. She was really patience with us and didn’t rush us even though I knew they wanted to clean up and close. When we started to paint the paint brush hair were all torn apart. There was barely any paint brushes and the paint were drying. Maybe it was because it was the end of the day but I hated it that my son didn’t get to enjoy it as much as I wanted him to. When we we’re done and went to wash our hands we saw dozens of paint brushes that were perfect. maybe we were allow to grab them but we didn’t know because no one told us we can. I won’t be having my son’s bday here. We actually went in to check it out for his bday. We will be going to a different color me mine for his bday. In the words of my son «this place sucks».

I came here on a Sunday night to make a keepsake plate commemorating an upcoming 2 year anniversary for my boyfriend. I found the the pieces a bit pricey: I paid $ 22 for a square dinner plate, $ 3.25 for the added heart tag, and $ 9 for the adult time painting.
Granted, staff was quite helpful, but as it got closer to closing time, there were definitely more time reminders of how much longer the store would remain open. That was the only annoying thing about this place, so I recommend coming in early to avoid that. But, otherwise, I chose to try out a bubble technique with writing overlay. We’ll see how it comes out this Saturday.
Overall, my kiddos enjoyed painting their own mugs. And we did stay there for nearly 2 hours. So the final bill of $ 89.45, while pricey, was a neat way for us to spend the afternoon. I think the kiddos enjoyed watching me be crafty, and now they will have a keepsake of that afternoon.
I believe there were deals on GroupOn, which might make this slightly pricey experience a little more affordable for us underemployed, single mothers!

It was my first time here and I will probably be back. even though I have a few little complaints.
First pros:
Plenty of parking, the place is organized, lots of brushes and paints to choose from, the AC is awesome when it’s 100° outside and the staff is friendly.
Now the cons:
There isn’t a ton to choose from by way of ceramics and the prices are a little high. The radio is crackly, it’s a little distracting, spring for Pandora or something. And though it is nice to pay $ 9 to rent the space and use the paints, when you show up at 7pm and you only paint for an hour, it’s sort of a rip off. There should be a discount for the last hour of the day. Also, the amount of time to get my over priced item back is crazy. I was there yesterday (Wednesday) and I can’t pick up my piece till Monday after 5pm. That’s forever!

So I went here with my husband and son to lee rate my niece’s 6^th birthday. This place can accommodate a fair amount of kids, I think her group was about 20 people, and the parents went for some coffee in the plaza. The kids enjoyed painting on the ceramic artifacts or bowls. I think it helps the kids to be creative and also lets the kids take home something from the birthday party too. After painting they allow the kids to have catered food to be brought in and eaten. There’s a time limit here though, and I think it’s paid by hour or half hour.

I went in yesterday to paint with friends and found the associates to be less than helpful. We walked in and walked past 3 associates who said nothing. Five minutes later an associate acknowledged our presence. She was incredibly short with us and frustrated that we had come in so we began painting on turbo as they were closing in over an hour.
The entire facility smells like urine. I thought it was the kid next to us but they left and it still smelled. I think it is something in the paint but they kept the doors closed and my nose was burning the entire time.
They had been rushing us to finish as they were closing but when it came time to pay we then had to wait another five minutes for them to finish talking to each other. All in all this was not a $ 100 experience and I will not be returning.

Haven’t been here in many years but glad we came back. Even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon, the staff was helpful and friendly. Prices and selection of ceramics are comparable to other similar places and met expectations.

Had a great time here! Very friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of pottery to paint and great selection of colors. Would recommend this to anyone looking for something fun and different to do.

I came in to Color Me Mine on Prospect Road tonight with my friend and let me tell you, it was awesome! I hadn’t been to a Color Me Mine since I was about 8 years old and it was better than I remembered. When you walk in you are greeted by an associate, who in our case was Melissa. They show you the pottery pieces you get to pick from to paint.
They have everything from plates, to bowls, to animal figures, to toothbrush holders, etc. to choose from; my friend and I chose the same large coffee mug. Then you go to the paint station where you see all the paints to pick from (as many colors as you want) and what each color looks like after it’s put in the oven/​glazed.
We spent about an hour and a half painting but were rushing to finish, although Melissa offered us to come back and finish it, we wanted it done before we went to dinner! I would advise you to plan to paint for 2 hours and spend 30 minutes picking your pottery piece, choosing colors, and thinking of ideas, it will take longer than you think!
Overall it was very fun and was a nice activity besides the regular Friday night dinner and movie. Also Melissa was very kinda and answered all of our questions. She was attentive and polite and overall made our experience an ease, so thank you Melissa! I will definitely be back to paint again soon!

Come in on Tuesday for 2 for 1 studio fees!
Or make a reservation for Thursday evening ladies night, the studio will stay open until 9pm, you can feel free to being drinks and snacks, and the studio fees will be half off.

This place makes for a fun and creative afternoon. Their selection of ceramics gives you options at many price points. Nothing is super cheap, but you can make something small for a reasonable price. They often offer specials to reduce the price of the studio fee, which is nice.
These types of crafts make for nice gifts or accent pieces to have around the house. I’ve always enjoyed the things I’ve made.
The people working there always seem happy to help, so don’t hesitate to ask for help.

Stopped by here as a way to get some sort of creative activity in for my daughter and I. Sure, we could have stayed home, where I have tons of art materials, but it’s not Color Me Mine by a long shot.
In all honesty, I was pretty much out of ideas as to what to do since the weather is sort of hot & muggy and the park would have not been an option. Swimming would have been nice, but I wanted to avoid the weekend rush. A movie would have meant sitting in front of another screen, and going to a place like the Tech would have been another place to battle a crowd.
Hadn’t actually been here aside from a birthday party nearly a year ago. The staff was really nice and very helpful with this confused mommy. I pretty much needed basic schooling as to what to do (because frankly, I forgot).
There’s lots of cute things to choose from. Some are small, some are large and some are in-​between.
I chose a note holder –a square box with an opening in the front to commemorate my new job and my daughter chose a Koala bank.
We spent about 45 minutes, painting our pieces. I didn’t really do anything special to my piece, as I was kind of in a modern/​Johannes Itten frame of mind, art-​wise, and ended up painting the inside teal blue and the outside a pumpkin orange.
My daughter was totally immersed in what she was doing and I was happy to see that. Aside from a couple of other people, we pretty much had the place to ourselves so that was nice.
It’s reasonable price-​wise, but expensive for me: $ 47 for both of us. Our pieces will be ready next weekend :-)

Color Me Mine is my go-​to-​spot on Mothers Day Morning. I get to sit with my boys while they each paint me something for Mothers Day. I am hoping this tradition lasts for ever… I would love to have a house full of fun colorful art painted just for me by my babies.
Couple of things though…
1. For 2 painters and 2 small pieces, my total was $ 56. Kinda pricey IMO.
2. 8 days for our pieces to be finished… it used to only be a few days.
3. If you join their mailing list, you will get coupons.
Anyway… so yes, its a lovely place to come on any day to spend with your kids.

I came here recently for pottery paining and it was really fun! It’s a but out of the way from Fremont (where I live) but still not too bad of a drive. The place has an easy setup where you pick your item, get some paint, and start working! You apply three coats of paint to get a solid color. There are many brushes and tools to get the exact shape of what you want to imprint on your pottery item.
The service is okay. Most of the time the employees are in the back. That would be my only compliant. As a side note, a lot of children come here so it can get noisy and really lively. but that comes with going to a place like this.

I had SOOOO MUCH FUN!!! Way more fun than I ever expected to :] Brought one of my girlfriends here for her birthday and it felt like my birthday. we all got super serious about making the best cup we could make. We came on a Saturday so it was really noisy and full of rambunctious kids but I still enjoyed myself. Basically, its a $ 9 studio fee to use all their paints and tables and paintbrushes/​stamps/​sponges, plus whatever item you choose to decorate. Most things I saw were between $ 12 – 20, but there are items as cheap as $ 4 and as expensive as $ 75. Such a fun experience, when I have kids I will be taking them here! But why wait? I heard they have ladies night so you can be here inebriated! Can’t wait for my next visit (we loved it so much we’re taking our other friend here for her birthday!)

Helpful staff, informed me of a 50% discount for adults only on Thursdays from 5−8PM even when I didn’t ask: D !
Interesting thing is their SF location within Westfield actually charges $ 10 instead of $ 9 like they do here at this San Jose location.
I went here roughly around 6PM, spent 2 hours vigorously painting two mugs. It was my first time at Color Me Mine. I went in, chose a table, chose items (two mugs!), and went to the staff to hear instructions/​tips. After that, I let my creativity loose :)
I was able to finish just before they closed at 8PM, but some people didn’t and got special passes from the staff to be able to bring back their unfinished items and finish painting without having to pay the studio fee again.
It does take a few days for them to bake your painted item. I went in Thursday, and they said it’ll be ready on Tuesday afternoon.
I spent $ 4.50 for the studio sitting fee, plus around $ 11/​mug. Total + taxes were around $ 28. I think it’s a decent price to pay for having creative fun & making something uniquely yours.
Best two hours I spent alone. I forgot how much I love arts & crafts, and Color Me Mine helped remind me. Thank you!

I was looking for something for my 2-​year-​old to hand make for a Father’s Day gift. After looking at Petroglyph and Color Me mine, it seemed that Color-​Me-​Mine would be the most kid friendly. We were very pleased with our experience. It was vastly DIY — the staff member, Melissa, was extremely helpful and thoughtful in describing the process, but then stepped back and gave us the privacy to paint for an hour or so.
Afterwards, she rang us up and we were on our way. We got to spend some time with my daughter painting and having a good time and everything was super easy to navigate. The prices were decent, too. ($ 15 for a tile, $ 5 for preschool painting fee) We will definitely be back! I’d gladly take this over a prospective mess at home, trip to Michael’s, inability of knowing what to do/​etc. Thank you for providing an easy and fun place to do art with the little ones and thank you, Melissa for taking care of us! :)

I have been here several times now and it is always so fun for me because I love arts and crafts! This place is very neatly organized, has a wide selection of pieces that can be painted and the staff is very friendly! I think it is really cool that they have have a paint station where you get the paint you want for your art work but in addition they also have mini bottles of paint that you can bring back with you to your table. I thought that was really cool because the actual paint station can get crowded. Also what was really helpful was that they had a painted color wheel at each table that showed every color available and what number that color was and it also showed the difference of why you should add 3 coats of paint to your piece. Very helpful!
Tip: This place gets very crowded on Mother’s Day! Call ahead to reserve a table or you will be waiting an hour for an open table.
Downfall: I get email notification for specials and coupons to this place. This is how I found out that on Mother’s Day the studio fee for mothers is free! Nice! BUT the same email that I got about the Mother’s Day special also included a $ 5 off your $ 30 minimum purchase coupon. I printed and brought it on Mother’s Day and they said it couldn’t be combined with the free studio fee deal! The coupon didn’t say any limitations except that it had to be a minimum purchase! And if you couldn’t combine them, why send it to customers along with all the Mother’s Day deal notifications!

My daughter and I have been here a few times since last summer. It’s a great activity to do when you want some quiet time and are feeling creative. There is a sitting fee which pays for the time spent at the studio as well as all the paint used. Each ceramic piece is a separate charge, but the prices are not too high. There are lots of variety of colors and some even have sparkles in them. Lots of different tools — sizes of paintbrushes, stencils, sponges. I love seeing the finished pieces which can be picked up about 5 – 7 days later.
We’ve also held my daughter’s birthday party here. I booked the private room which held 11 kids comfortably. I had parents drop off the kids which worked out nicely because the room wasn’t crowded with adults. There was another party outside in the main room, and it was nice to be able to close the double doors to the party room to keep out the noise. For the package I chose, each child can choose and paint a ceramic at 16.00 or less. I arrived a little earlier before the party start time and chose a variety of ceramics and put them on the table for the kids to choose. This helped prevent the awkward situation when a child wanted a piece that cost more than I allocated.
The party host set up all the paints and helped with serving the food. I made sandwiches and had chips and fruit kabobs for the kids. (And, I didn’t have to worry about feeding the parents!). Note that they don’t have a large enough fridge for the cake/​cupcakes. But, because the venue is indoors, the cupcakes I had just sat at room temperature.
The party ran smoothly and the time (2 hours total) was perfect. All the kids had fun. The pieces were nicely wrapped to be picked up in 5 days. I had the option to pick up the entire package of ceramics or have each child pick up his/​her own later on.
Overall, a great party place and just hanging out place for kids 5 years and older. I’d say that it’s not as suitable when the child is under 5 because of lack of attention span and ability to sit still!
A nice change from a lot of the other indoor venues for parties. At Color Me Mine, the kids are all in one room and have to talk to one another and be social!
Highly recommend!

My children and I absolutely loved it here!
There were a bunch of items to choose from but just enough so that you didn’t feel so overwhelmed with deciding what to paint. Lots of cute household items, décor, pottery, knick-​knacks, etc.
Staff was cordial and was definitely around to help out with any and all questions we had. The coolest part I thought was that they took the time to explain the different paints and even shared some tips and techniques on how to attain a certain «look» for your piece. Our pottery was fired and finished in an adequate amount of time and was exactly what we expected. The different paint and techniques that we applied under the staff’s advice definitely turned out the way they explained.
