Color On The Wing Aviaries

6 days after we purchased a $ 90 cockatiel from her (which we love), we are an additional $ 900 into veterinary bills because of a host of very serious medical problems. The least of the problems was a huge case of feather lice, which means all of her birds are infected. We are on twice daily antibiotics for other issues, too, and the vet bills continue to mount.
We never asked her to pay for any of this; our daughter is in love with the bird and we will do whatever it takes. But, when we contacted her she was not very nice and did not contact the veterinarian to find out what other diseases are obviously in her house and need to be treated. That is what just floors me. Her other birds are also at risk, but she never made the phone call? Shady.
Not all families could afford to have a $ 90 cockatiel turn into an over $ 1k cockatiel… we are fortunate, but not very happy about it.
