Contempo Custom Upholstery

About 6 months after the great job they did on our sofa and chairs, I asked Linda/​Contempo to recover an ottoman with fabric I chose from swatches that Linda brought to my living room. It came out great — another example of how neat and detailed their upholstery work is. I definitely recommend Contempo for slipcovers and upholstery and related fabric work. Really good.

I’ve been searching for a reasonable upholstery place to change the fabric color of my sofa set to match my new color scheme. Linda came out for a free estimate. She was very detailed at explaining to me what has to be done, had great fabric selection with reasonable pricing. As promised 3 weeks later I received my sofa back as good as new. I highly recommend Contempo

We have had Linda do multiple projects including a window seat cushion, sofa, love seat, chair, dining room chairs, decorative pillows and chair pads. Whenever we have a project, we call her. We recommended her to other members of my family and she did a great job for them also.

Owner is dismissive and on the rude side, quoted random prices without measuring or asking what kind fabric I want, will be looking for business somewhere else!

Although it has been over a year since I have had my pieces reupholstered at Contempo, I was recently referring their services to some friends and wanted to give them a shout out on Unilocal.I had found them on Unilocal,and decided to give them a try, despite some less than optimal reviews regarding communication and lead times. I am quite happy that I did.
Linda was prompt in getting back to me anytime that I called or texted her, and my sectional sofa and 2 chairs were completed in less than 3 weeks. I believe the furniture was picked up the 1^st week of November 2013, and she promised me that I would have them back before Thanksgiving as I requested — sure enough, they delivered them the Sunday evening before. I was happy with the turn-​around time, especially given that it seemed to be a busy time of the year for their business.
Having priced some other upholstery shops, I felt that the rates were reasonable, and if one orders the fabric through them, they sell it at cost. In fact, one of the fabrics I chose was one that I had found online (not from one of their books) and they ordered the fabric and charged me at their cost. Linda spent a bit of time with me going through the books to find fabric for my sectional sofa. I showed her a rather expensive fabric that I loved but was not willing to cough up the $$$ since it was for a family room and would get heavy use — she patiently worked with me to find something similar, but more reasonably priced.
They did a nice job on everything, and as I stated at the start, I have already referred a few friends here who are looking to have some things upholstered. I will definitely use this business again for my next upholstery job.

Another great work of art from Linda!!! I asked Linda to help me find an foot stool that will match my chair and reupholster it for me. She found a foot stool with similar lines and reupholstered it in the fabric I had purchased previously!!! She craftsmanship is amazing!!! I can’t be more happy with the end product. She really made my Christmas!

I had a wonderful experience working with Linda and Contempo Custom Upholstery. Linda came to my home, examined my two swivel chairs and gave me a quote on the spot. The chairs were picked up several days later, reupholstered, and dropped off yesterday. They are absolutely lovely. The care they took with matching the pattern and the professional finish is so appreciated. I recommend them with no reservation and will use them again when I have another upholstery job.

I am very happy with the service received from Contempo Upholstery. Linda came to my home with many fabric samples. This made the process so easy, as I could see the choices in my home setting. They picked up my sofas and two weeks later they arrived. The workmanship and attention to detail is excellent. No extra charge to pick up or deliver the sofas. Such great customer service. I will definitely tell my friends about them.

i just picked up my slipper chair from Contempo. They did a beautiful job! They placed the Ikat pattern exactly how I wanted it and made the effort to match the pattern so the cushion pattern flows down to the sides of the chair perfectly. They sourced the fabric I wanted at a great price, and the work was done quickly, also at a great price. I will definitely be using them again, and recommending them to friends. Regarding communication, I found the best way to deal with them is via email… Linda always responded within 24 hours.

They did a great job recovering my ottoman. The piece was returned on time. the price was fair.

Just got my sofa’s, they look great ! Linda is amazing .
I had 2 full size sofa’s that were very good quality but 20 years old and floral … After seeing the cost of replacement I decided to get a few referrals for recovering. Kinda got a little run around from other companies and the cost and amount of fabric needed where never the same. I turned to «Yelp» Read a great review, called Linda and was sold. Honest, Nice, Prompt, Professional are just a few of the words that come to mind. I will refer Linda and Contempo to all my friends and colleges. Give her a call, you will be surprised and thrilled with the old fashion «personal service «at a great price.

We were so pleased with our experience with Contempo.
We had 6 dining chairs reupholstered with dark recycled leather and furniture pins. Linda met us to walk through some options, gave us a great deal, and offered free pick up and delivery. They were speedy too — only two days (with a week before for the fabric to come in)! I am so impressed by the quality and service!

I researched for a while before coming to Contempo. I contacted and received pricing from over ten upholstery shops and Contempo was the most reasonable. The most extreme difference were shops that priced themselves at twice as much as Contempo for the same work. Linda, the owner, was even willing and able to pick up my armchairs to be redone. I looked for the fabric I liked and supplied Linda with the fabric. And I requested the styling be the same. The final product was beyond what I expected. There are craftsmen still in this day and age. Linda works pretty hard and emails often late at night, around 11 or midnight. These are good people who have been doing upholstery for three decades since 1970s. They do an awesome job.
If you are MEAN, go elsewhere, please. If you work with them, you will be amazed.

As others have noted in their reviews, I have found the lack of communication to be rather frustrating. My initial impression was great. I called LInda to make an appointment for an estimate. She came to our home in the evening a few days later and gave us a reasonable estimate.
My husband called Linda about a week later to confirm that we would like to move forward with the job. He has left at least two messages with her and not received a call back. He also called the main business number and was not able to reach anyone.
If they are too busy and do not need the business, we would appreciate a call back out of courtesy so that we can seek other options. If you value your time, I would go with a different business.

I needed 4 old antique chairs redone. A friend referred me to Contempo because she said they have the best prices and can get things done pretty quickly and efficiently.
I called Linda on ⁸⁄₁₃ and told her I needed it done in 3 weeks because I had family coming from out of town. I was able to get an appointment with Linda the same day and placed my order. It took about week and half for the fabric arrive due to production but soon as my chair were picked up I had them back in about 5 days. I am very happy with the quality of the work. They were able to restore my old chairs to almost new! I shopped around for quotes and they had the best prices so I’ll probably be using them again for other work.

Soon after contacting Linda the last time she was very apologetic and promised she will do everything she can to ensure the sofa will be received ASAP. Linda explained to me about the many unfortunately and unforeseen circumstances that occurred. I think even Linda was overwhelmed with all that had happened and is truly sorry about our experience.
True to her words the sofa and chair were delivered literally 1 hr ago. The set looks great and though there were couple small chips on the leg they were quick to fix the issues to the best of their ability. Not only that, soon after I received my sofa set Linda called and left a message. She not only offered a discount to express her regret about the whole experience but will also give us three pillows for free! I am very impressed by Linda’s willingness to ensure our experience will get back to a 5* level. I am now eagerly waiting to see the pillows when they are done.
In short, I really enjoy working with Linda and the quality of work is very good. I will definitely go back again for any future work and would not hesitate recommending those who are on the fence about Contempo to take a leap of faith. Sure it took a little longer but in the end I believe it’s well worth it to go with Linda.

We had two «cushy» chairs done in a complicated print fabric. Contempo perfectly laid down the fabric so the pattern details arranged really nice along major seams and angles of the chairs and the two chair are «twins» in their patterning. The «cushy-​ness» was still in the chairs.
On time pick up and delivery and a fair and decent price for a job well done. What more can I say except give them your business! We will again.
