Specialties

I am a private math tutor. I specialize in tutoring high school through college math students. I am skilled in developing a trusting relationship with my students. I communicate well with my students and am very patient. My students are my clients and it is my job to figure out how to help them learn.

I do not give assessment tests. I assess my students’ performance continually throughout our tutoring relationship and adjust tutoring sessions appropriately to target successful learning.

I help my students improve their study skills and work habits.

History

Established in 2007.

I started tutoring at San Jose City College when I was 19. I continued tutoring many subjects through a few tutoring services through 1997.

In 2007, I returned to private tutoring, focusing exclusively on tutoring high school and college math.

Most of my students stay with me until they graduate.

I graduated from San Jose State in 1995, with a BS in geology and minor in French. I entered graduate school at SJSU in 1995 and taught in the geology depart there from 1995 through 1999.

I have passed the CBEST and CSETs for mathematics.

I have over 20 years of experience tutoring math and other subjects. I have been very successful in working well with high school students. I communicate well with them and I am very patient and motivating.

I’m a non-​traditional student who recently went back for an on-​line degree and was totally failing my College Algebra class. Corinne was able to get me on track, keep me motivated and truly helped me succeed and pass this extremely difficult class. She took the time needed to help me understand, always came prepared to my house with an agenda and truly cared about the outcome.
There was a time when I had thought about dropping the class and taking a more basic class in the Fall and then retaking this class… however she convinced me to hang in there and helped me be successful.
I highly recommend Corinne for any type of Algebra tutoring needed, whether it’s a younger or ‘older’ student !!

), Corinne’s dog training business, though if I needed tutoring in math, I’d hire her too!
I have probably one of the most stubborn unmotivated dogs alive (an Akita) and Corinne has done wonders with him. She trains using positive reinforcement. She is gentle and kind and it is obvious when she works with your dog that she seriously knows her stuff. My dog responds to her methods really well. She works with both the owner and the dog so that while she is shaping behaviors she is also teaching you how to reinforce those behaviors and teaching you the principles of positive reinforcement and using clicks and small treats to communicate with the dog.
She is also extremely reasonable for a private trainer. I feel so lucky to have found Corinne!

Corinne is OUTSTANDING! She tutored my daughter in math for her final two years of high school. She was extremely good, compassionate, and patient. My daughter «hated» the idea of working with a tutor prior to meeting Corinne. They absolutely bonded and Corinne became someone that she looked forward to meeting with. My daughter is off to college now, having passed all of her high school math courses! THANKS CORINNE!

Wow — I don’t thin there is enough characters in this review panel to speak about Corine’s exceptional tutoring. Corrine has tutored my two daughters for over two years. Over the years, both of my daughter’s skills have advanced which has resulted in an increase in their academic confidence. She tutored Geometry, Algebra I & II and went above and beyone to help my senior finish her senior year successfuly completing AP Calculous! Aside from her Math intelligence, the best part about Corine is that she truly, truly believes that with different strategies and approaches being implemented, kids can GET Math. My husband and I work full-​time and we have a busy home (5 children, a dog, lizard). Corinne is always able to come in and get herself and my daughters focused on the session without skipping a beat! My senior landed a 4.0 and is off to UC Merced! Corinne absolutely contributed to this success!
