Creekside Bar & Grill

My family took me to Creekside for a Father’s Day dinner. The service by Tony was excellent, as was the food. I had the Pork Chops, and they were some of the best I’ve had at any restaurant. The staff was very accommodating to my 1 year old granddaughter, and brought her crackers and ravioli to eat.
We’ll go back to Creekside and have another great dinner in the near future.

I’m torn in my opinion of Creekside. While it is convenient (just down the street from my home), it is kind of run down. We like to go for karaōke, which is fun but usually overrun with an older Spanish language crowd. We once had a good meal there but it wasn’t extremely noteworthy or anything. Also, the main bartender tends to get very sloshed and dances with female patrons in a less than professional manner. Overall, we’ll go back for drinks and karaōke, but not much else.

Went here date night the Mexican food was amazing we will be returning with family and friends!

Creekside Bar & Grill is now Playa Bonita Mexican Restaurant! This Friday, Nov 8 is the grand opening event for Salsa & Bachata with live salsa band «Borinquen». Dance lesson 8:30pm…funnn!

Creekside is now a slow service white tablecloth Mexican restaurant. We just happened to be seated for the first service. Refried beans and rice you could get at any taqueria for sit down restaurant prices. This is not good restaurant strategy.
I had the Mexican steak dish with onions and peppers. It was pretty good.
I will not go back.

Had a huge flavorless fillet at ½ price of a steakhouse.
More with potato.

Even with an old world white wash interior that some has accurately equated to mortuary feel, its serene had a great wait staff.
The building outside is reflective of a run down bank, empty hole where the atm was and all

Appreciate this place for what it it, not what it isn’t. Attentive and friendly service, hearty portions of quality comfort food and cozy booths. Usually quiet too, with an occasional song coming out of the bar. Nothing too fancy but good enough for a quiet evening with the honey.

Came here with my parents with a $ 50 for $ 25 Groupon on 6 PM on a Thursday night. It was empty other than one other table and a small group at the bar.
No one greeted us and we stood at the entrance awkwardly before I decided to look for the restroom. As I walked to the back of the restaurant the hostess saw me and went to seat my parents.
3.5 for the food
3.0 for the service
2.5 for the ambience
Soon after ordering we got some fresh, warm bread with butter. So good.
Unfortunately this is when I found out I couldn’t use the Unilocal check-​in for a free glass of wine with the Groupon we were using. Darn.
I got a 12 oz of medium rare filet mignon. I subbed out the potatoes for more veggies because I try to control my blood sugar. The filet mignon tender and juicy as it should be, though it came out a bit too rare. My parents probably ate half of it with me because it was the best fish we got: P
My dad got the 3 steak medallions with mushrooms. It was pretty good but it was a bit chewy and a bit too salty (but my dad ordered it medium well, maybe I’m not used to more cooked pieces of beef)
My mom got the lamb chops. They were way too tough and chewy. My mom didn’t touch her dish at all and ended up taking them home and slow-​cooking them to make it taste better.
Not the best restaurant out there, but if you’re looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, this place could be alright. It’s really what you make of it.

Good food and helpful waitstaff. The décor is a bit dated but the food was good.

The outside of this place looks like an abandon building as stated by other « Unilocalers». What there is no excuse for, is the plywood panels holding the place together. So why did I go in you ask…
I bought the Groupon like some others. It did look nice on the website. So here we are, do we go in or not. I paid $ 25 for this and I’m not one to throw money out the window.
In we went… boy does this place need a make over (owner if you are reading this, that does not mean painting over the bricks!). There were about 2 other tables when we got there on a Saturday night at 7:00 and one waitress. When we left there was about 8 other tables and one waitress. Service was sloooooooooow.
Food — I had the chicken marsala, the chicken was very tender (this is the only reason I’d give them one star.) Hubby had prime rib which he said was really tough.
With all the open tables they sat a party of 4 in the booth next to us. With the layout of this place my husband was basically facing them and felt like he was part of that group.
The place just has a weird smell and feel like a morgue. not sure how else to describe it.

At first we were iffy about going in cuz the parking lot was deserted. But The food was good. We ordered chicken piccata & steak. The steak was just right, it wasn’t chewy. It was actually pretty soft & juicy. And the server was attentive.

When we first pulled in to the parking lot, we were tempted to give up our Groupon and forget going inside but we tried it anyway.
The cheese fondue was basically velveta with a small candle. Skip that.
Dinner was surprisingly good. Not amazing but an OK value for the price. We had the chicken picatta, filet mignon, and salmon. My filet was cooked as ordered.
Don’t recommend the bread pudding for dessert. It was basically just soggy bread.

Oh man, this place was terrible! I’m ok with the old school décor but the food was just plain bad. We started with the fondue and it was basically one type of cheese and nothing to dip in it except the complimentary bread. My wife ordered the salmon which was raw and cold in the middle. I got the steak and prawns. Steak was tough and not cooked medium rare and the prawns were fishy, which leads me to believe they were frozen or 2 – 3 days old. I informed the server and he said he was told by the chef that’s the way they serve it! Lol… We then ordered the bread pudding (served cold?) and it basically looked like slop on a plate. Nothing was holding it together. The server comes back and asks «What’s wrong now?» and seemed to get defensive. Luckily I had the Groupon which pretty much covered our three drinks and my steak. Definitely never going back!

Couldn’t find a place to go tonight and my buddy and i walked into the Creekside. I have driven by this place a million times and been in once for Kaoroke years ago but never to eat. We gave it a shot and definitely glad we did!
First of all, it’s totally old school. It looks like you walked back into the 70’s with old tables, chairs and booths but you can’t judge this place based on that!
I ordered the rib eye ($ 28), which came with a salad, a few veggies and a loaded baked potato. Also, bread to start. I was literally almost shocked that the steak was thick and cooked perfectly and a huge portion. It was also seasoned perfectly. Potato was good too! It’s nice to get things with your steak instead of having to order sides for extra $ and a salad for extra $, etc etc.
I would have to say i will definitely go back for the food and the really good service. No problem getting in either as the place was about ½ full. No, the neighborhood isn’t great but who cares, they cooked a great steak and it’s a great value!

We got the groupon deal (25 for $ 50) and were excited to try this place out.
We ordered the following:
Clam chowder — Doesn’t taste like it comes from the canned one but still very salty and doesn’t have enough clams.
Fisherman’s Plate (Fried scallops, prawns & oysters) — They said they run out of oysters so they’d give us more scallops and prawns, but the portion is still so small for the price. The batter for the shrimps (not big enough to be called prawns here) is just enough and good. The batter for the scallops are too much and hard (I don’t know why the batter for them are different).
Seafood Linguine — Actually their Signature Pasta Plate! Linguine sautéed with fresh shrimp, Dungeness crab and mushrooms in a lemon butter sauce. — Doesn’t taste anything like lemon butter sauce. They actually use soy sauce to season this and it makes the dish so salty and lost its creamy seafood flavor.
Prime Rib — Also their signature dish! Slow roasted with special seasonings. Served with au jus and horseradish. This is pretty decent, but again it’s hard to go wrong with prime rib. However it tastes very plain like there is no seasoning whatsoever and the sauce is also very plain. The garlic mashed potatoes doesn’t taste like garlic at all.
Service was okay. We were a bit early for dinner on Friday (around 6:30pm). The place seems empty and there was only 1 server. For the price, I expect better food, especially this restaurant is family-​owned. I don’t think I’d come back.

Just terrible!!!
We bought a Groupon and we have never been to this place before. As soon as we entered the place smelled bad, like musty. The food is beyond terrible, and overpriced. I had the chicken Marsala and my boyfriend had the sirloin medallions. Neither of us ate our dishes, they had no flavor, my «Marsala sauce was all oil» just terrible. Also, the place does not look like a restaurant at all from the outside. It need some serious remodeling/​updating. We are never coming back!

I will keep this short and sweet, as opposed to my other reviews that I have made entertaining and humorous. Why? Because I do not want to give this place of business any more of my time. Here’s the deal…
(1) Bought a Groupon for $ 25 which was worth $ 50 worth of food and drink.
(2) Called ahead as the Groupon terms requested.
(3) Enjoyed a couple of cocktails with my girlfriend and also had a beer with my meal.
(4) I ordered the filet mignon and she ordered the rib eye.
(5) Food was delicious and the service was adequate — we sat at the bar.
(6) Come time for the bill, I see a lot of hemming and hawing as they work to compute the total.
(7) The bill comes with a long explanation and includes an automatic 20% gratuity, which was not only on the total of the food and drink, but also on the tax for the bill.
Buzzkill… I was going to tip on the total bill as I always do with Groupons and other discount programs. In fact, I already had it in my mind to tip 20% on the total bill, so the restaurant gained nothing by forcing this tip onto my bill. There was nothing in the fine print about being forced to tip 20% on the bill. Additionally, when you tip, you tip on the food and drinks — not on the tax.
Oh… and the tax was computed at 9.16 percent. I’m not sure where they got that number, but I hope it was worth pissing off the new customer that the Groupon was designed to attract in the first place.
Summary:
(1) If you are going to offer a deal to get new customers, make everything clear and understand what you are offering. Do not screw the new customer over, as he will Unilocal your ass and make it worse for you than if he never entered your joint.
(2) If you are going to screw over the new customer, don’t charge said customer for a tip on the tax. That gained you an additional $ 1.39 in tip revenues at the expense of this review.
(3) I will not be back and would not recommend anyone else frequent this establishment. Thousands of Facebook friends will see this review. I hope it was worth it.

The food was excellent and service superb. My wife and I were very impressed especially after reading some of the past reviews. The place was clean and the food was impressive.
We will be back next week as we found a new favorite spot.

My dad decided on this place because he had a
certificate. This place looked extremely suspect when we pulled into the parking lot. When I saw a sign for Karaōke 6 nights/​week, I was nervous that we’d have to endure terrible singing while dining.
As you enter, to the right is the bar area and to the left is the dining area. The décor, like other reviews, is outdated and had a little old place stench.
I wasn’t expecting much from this place but the food was surprisingly good. We ordered the grilled salmon, filet mignon (cooked exactly to order), the Coulotte steak (pretty tasty), and the calamari appetizer (batter was fresh but they didn’t give a lot). They were a bit stingy on the side of veggies. The salads were okay, the croutons were pretty oily. Looks like they used the old bread they serve and fried them to make croutons.
The service was good.
Nothing against banda music but that was the kind of music playing in the bar area and it made for a weird atmosphere to dine in.
I doubt I’d come back to this place unless I was urging to Karaōke which is highly unlikely.

Use any 80’s analogy to compare the décor of the Creekside Bar and Grill and it probably will fit. My choice is the dining room from the old Peppermill restaurant that used to be in Cupertino where BJ’s is now. Awww yeah, those of you who remember that place know what I mean!
Anyways, the décor is dated but what about the food? Well, the menu is very standard American. The cheese fondue reminiscent of the former Bold Knight on Monterey. I can tell there was dairy in there but it had the look and consistency of Velvetta. I got the Creekside special steak which got to me really salty. If it wasn’t for the wedge of lemon on my plate for the veggies, then I wouldn’t have been able to eat any of it. The baked potato was dry and despite me asking to have the chives, butter, and sour cream put on the side, I got delivered a baked potato with everything placed inside!
Any good things that I liked? The clam chowder wasn’t hideous and their croutons that come with the house salad? Surprisingly crunchy an tasty. My reaction to the other dishes ordered at my table: a calamari steak soaked in egg and served like that? Pork chops overseasoned with cajun seasoning (cayenne pepper) with a side of apple sauce? It’s just madness so far from what I saw in terms of how the food is prepared here. It seemed very unconventional from what I’m used to seeing.
As my party was leaving, we saw that the nightly karaōke bar crowd starting to mill in and I think maybe that they have the right idea to avoiding the dinner hours. It’s too risky to come here and pay full price for the quality of food I observed tonight. Fortunately, they do offer their early-​bird dinner specials that are available before 6pm on the weekdays. Most dishes on that menu is $ 10. BUT, in the end, any place where its main appeal are early bird specials or the night time post dinner karaōke crowd, comprise the main revenue sources… sorry I think I’ll pass.
PS: The bathroom smelled of mold.
