CTC Day Worker Center

I would like to recommended Robert Zuberbier and CTC. The center sent us Robert and he
has helped us in electrical and landscaping our front lawn. He and the center has been very
helpful in our home improvement projects

I used this agency to assist with a move on 12−11−15. The move was on a rainy day in an upstairs apt. in San Jose. The hard working, very professional and nice young men named Isaiah and Delano were the best. You will not be disappointed with there skills. If I need to move again (hopefully not) I will make sure that I request both of these men to help me. I wish your agency, staff and team the best in 2016.

How this day worker center works is you call the phone number, or you may go straight to the center (phone 408.993.0837) a supervisor will answer the phone, ask you what your looking for Handyman/​help you move/​constriction/​etc. and he/​she will pair you with the best matching worker (s), you both will discuss hourly cost, and then what day you need the work (could even be last minute) then you can either pick them up at the center or worker may have his/​her own car or they can take public transportation to get to you. simple!
I have an ongoing worker his name is Jeff. I ask him to wash my car/​pull my weeds/​clean my home/​even pick up doggy poop! he is so nice as well! very respectful gentleman, is so hard working, one day I had to do some errands and he did a couple of extra cleaning (racking up leafs everywhere) because he was done with my list of stuff and I had not returned yet.
Jeff could just have sat there and I would not be the wiser, but he kept working!!!
I recommend Jeff to all seeking a very hard worker, big listener, and will go up and beyond!

We moved in San Jose. It was so easy to call the center and request two strong people to help us move out of my two bedroom apartment and I to a new one. In addition, we had already picked the truck with my partner’s stuff, so the move in requires extra work. Luis and Paul were fantastic! They showed up on time by bike (!) and helped us organize all of our things into a 20 foot van. They were careful, efficient, hardworking, respectful, and good natured over the 4 hours they helped move things.
The standard rate for movers is $ 15 per hour, but I paid them what I thought was a more appropriate rate of $ 25 per hour for all the work they did.

The two gents who helped with my move were so very professional and accommodating. They hefted boxes and packed my storage unit that was at the curb like the most skillful of Tetris players.
Safe, reliable, punctional and just all-​out nice!
Major kudos to the gent manning the phone and dispatching, too, accommodating me on the same day!

We have used this service 2 times and have had very different experiences. The first time we got two gents to help us and one was pretty darn good. He was a hard worker and a nice-​enough guy to chat with during the hard work. The other guy was definitely a big question mark. We gave him the bene-​of-​the-​doubt ignoring his unprofessional and even unsavory presence. When he started dragging our new mattress through parking-​spot oil instead of picking his end up we should have said thanks and taken him back.
Instead we waited for him to drag our very nice dining room table across the rhino-​guard-​like cement.
Anyway, no more time on the bad. Lets talk about the fantastic second experience. We were fortunate enough to work with Paul and Patricia. These two not only have a great work ethic, digging hard into the terrible labor of moving which no-​one can love. They also were great problem solvers meeting every challenge that came up with a positive attitude and sound decision-​making. They positively impacted our second move with this organization.
Three stars because the inconsistency of help quality. 5 stars for Paul and Patricia.

Robert Green, recently referred two female workers from CTC for a large Baby shower event I was having at my home. They were extremely helpful, on time, worked very hard and with limited instruction, and really helped me make the date a memorable one for my family. They were able to help with food preparation, passing of food and beverages as well as kitchen clean up and putting items away. Very much appreciated and very professional!!! Please give thanks to the Stella and her helper.

I have used the center 4 times and thought is was about time to write a review-​great group of people from the person answering the phone to the guys who have helped me with past needs. Moving and Yard work have been my focus. Today was another great day with Richard and Delano coming over with short notice (called at 7, arrived at 8) and worked hard for hours — no slackers here. Polite and considerate. Was a great experience.

So wonderful this center is. I’ve used the services twice for moving and both times it was exceptional. The guys were polite, kind and worked so hard. We picked them up the second time we used them and dropped them off at the train. They were very efficient and quick, making both moves the simplest we’ve ever had. We are now in Orange County and it’s been difficult to find a center similar to CTC in SJ. I’m really grateful to Ruben, Mark, Victor and Angel for all of their help. Robert and the gal at reception (Mary or Stephanie?) were very kind and helped scheduling last minute (2days out) no big deal! Thank you so much!

I called very last-​minute because a crew I had scheduled to unload a delivery of windows and doors fell through. I was able to pick up 4 guys, and they were courteous, friendly, and hardworking — while we waited for the delivery, they spent time cleaning up construction debris around my house, and seemed happy for the work. I will definitely use CTC again.

First time using this service. Needed help digging up sewer/​water mains Jamie and Ron helped me for almost eight hours and we dug out about fifty feet trenching our way. They were amazing. I would use this service again. I called the office told them what I needed. The price agreed up front went and picked them up. Robert at the office was super nice and had a good sense of humor. Fyi the number on the CTC web site was not correct its 408−993−0837 and the have longer hours recently that are not reflected on the web page. It said they were closed on M&T, but that is currently not the case. So I would call.

I’ve used the CTC in SJ twice now and had a great experience both times, Thomas and Robert were fantastic working on my house move and really did a great job.
JohnF helped in the first move and he was equally great. I’ll be recommending this service to my friends also.

Needed help moving. Jonathan and Victor were incredible. Courteous and helpful. Knew exactly how to stack everything so all the stuff would fit in the storage locker. Plan on using them again and it’s great to know I can ask for them specifically.

This is such an amazing resource!!! I am SO very thankful to the Center for finding me some great help for my move this weekend. For the actual move, they sent me Victor and Jonathan. These men were truly amazing: punctual, hardworking, patient, diligent and kind and very pleasant to be around. The next day they sent me Julia to help me with the move out cleaning. Again, I was blessed with another punctual, incredibly hardworking and very pleasant worker. What a blessing these people were to me… They helped make my move smooth and stress-​free. I will most definitely be using this service again and requesting Victor, Jonathan, and Julia! :)

I will certainly be using this service again! I feel very awkward about going to Home Depot and picking someone up from the front of the store, so finding this service made me really happy.
Victor came over at the time we discussed, did the work in 2 hours. The agreed upon rate was $ 12/​hour with a minimum of 3 hours work. After the job was done, I paid him and offered to drop him off somewhere, but he declined stating he was planning to take the bus.

Got some great help from CTC day worker center. The staff was very helpful in pairing me with a good fit day worker for a large project in my backyard. I needed to redo the entire backyard landscaping and needed help so I called them up an found me a team within 20 minutes or so.
The men who helped me were very courteous and helpful. They both were very hard working! The project lasted two weeks and each day I was able to hire the same two guys who knew what I wanted to get done.
This was better than just picking up people randomly as I was able to get to know them and trust them. If I ever need more workers for any new project I will hire from CTC Day Worker Center ONLY! Highly highly recommend!

Have used Anna Maria for house cleaning and she was wonderful! I have also used Jose on many occasions for yard work. He is very through and reliable. Both workers were very pleasant and did an excellent job.

This place was a blessing. I had originally hired a «contractor» with 25+ years of experience and he messed up everything he touched from the wall texture to the door trims. I had to fire him in the first week and my home was half finished. Luckily I found the St. Joseph’s Day Labor Center and talked to Vince who runs the place. He set me up with Rick who is awesome. He is a great guy and is extremely detailed. Rick is working on finishing up my home and fixing up the original contractor’s mistakes. If you ever need someone who is amazing at detailed work, ask for Rick. My only regret was to not hire Rick from the beginning.

This is such an incredible find! I had no idea such places existed — I thought one had to get day workers on the street, and I always find that awkward and uncomfortable. Plus I don’t speak any Spanish, so the negotiations are difficult.
This place is awesome — you can either set up an appointment in advance, or just come in the day you need help. You explain what you’re looking for, and they hook you up with somebody who meets your needs. There is a bilingual person there who helps get everything arranged, although the 2 gentlemen I brought home to help with my gardening both speak excellent English. They are hard working and I am really impressed with them.

I had such a fantastic experience with two day laborers from this center who helped me move.
My last move a few years ago was traumatizing — I was scammed by criminals who tried to extort money from me in exchange for delivering my possessions. Those criminals are currently on trial for their crimes. It was an awful experience, and I was so nervous about moving again because of it. This is why I decided I would feel safer renting a truck, hiring day labor, and driving the truck myself to my destination. This way I was ALWAYS in control of my things.
I called a few days before my move to request two men to help me. Mary found two great men to come to my place and help me, and called me a couple of days in advance to let me know their names. I asked her if she could find two men who would be willing and able to follow me in their own car from San Jose to Oakland so that I wouldn’t have to find two new men to help me unload when I arrived at my new place. She totally came through. Ruben and Francisco did a fantastic job. They showed up 15 minutes early, and not only moved my things onto a truck, but CAREFULLY placed them so that they were tight in the truck and would not shift. Ruben had said he was a highly experienced mover, and it definitely showed!
Mary recommended for moving that I pay the workers $ 15/​hour, but life has been good to me lately, and I was so grateful for such wonderful, trust-​worthy help, that I decided to pay them each $ 20 hour plus tip and money for fuel. They totally deserved it. Money well spent. Highly recommend this center.
