I was very pleased with Dennis Dunne repairing a super glue spot on my brand new Lorts table (which I made worse by applying GoofOff on). He gave me the worst and best-​case scenarios over the phone after I had sent him pictures. He came out in a timely manner, was able to make it look like it was never damaged on the spot, and I could not be happier with finding him to fix this mistake for me! I’ll use him again in a minute if I need any refinishing done on any of my furniture (hopefully not caused by my own fault!). Highly recommend him.

Dennis Dunne has refinished several pieces of furniture over the years, and it has consistently been perfect! The most recent job was due to a move, with gouges on mahogany furniture and a pine foot board. We also had some antique pine table rehabilitated after years of wear. They all came back looking brand new! His attention to detail is impeccable, he is a perfectionist when it comes to his work. A fabulous job, I am so pleased to have our furniture back and looking fantastic!

I have a table that needs to be refinished. I was given Dunne’s finishing by Ethan Allen. I called to get an estimate without any response. After leaving several messages I finally got a call back and was told he was very busy and would get back to me after Christmas. two more message later they finally returned my call and said they would come by the following day to give me an estimate. I waited all day with no call or no show. Even if they are unable (I assume) to refinish the piece, it would have been nice to receive a response of some sort. I don’t want to do business with a company that ignores potential customers.

Dennis Dunne did an amazing job refinishing my three chairs which were damaged during our move. And he did it so quickly. They look brand new! I highly recommend Dunne’s Finishing Service for a professional refinishing job. Call him.

Since reading my review, Mr. Dunne contacted me to explain the reasons behind the lack of response. I accept his reasons as valid, even though it still doesn’t explain the lack of any response at all, even an automated one. As I have not contracted his business and can’t speak to the quality of the work, I am raising my rating to three stars.

Dennis took really good care of us, he’s honest, professional and a master at his craft. He repaired our poker table top that was dropped and is a difficult finish to repair. He exceeded our expectations and I would recommend him for any type of refinishing and repair

Dennis and his crew did an excellent job of repairing a family heirloom Spinnet style desk.
There was a lot of work to be done to get layers of old glue removed, making a new cross support, and fabricating three out of four new brackets so that the desk could be reattached to the legs. He also re-​glued the large pull-​out drawer and firmed up some of the other components of the legs and feet. This desk in now in better structural condition that it has ever been! It sits evenly on top of the legs and they are solid!
Also, Denis was the only person out of 2 other companies who responded to my calls to ask about getting a quote. He was there when he said he would be, and the work was finished within the estimated completion date… Great work Dennis!

I would highly recommend Dunne’s Finishing for a restoration and/​or refinishing of a grand piano. My Steinway L had substantial fade issues due to exposure to morning sun and some minor damages. Dennis Dunne suggested to do color blending and shading to match the original wood stain, plus minor repairs of damaged spots, instead of doing a complete refinishing. I followed his recommendation. Work on the piano was finished withing three weeks, as promised, and my piano looks beautiful. I am a very happy customer playing on an old piano which looks like a new one.

Encouraged by all the 5 star reviews I went to Dunne’s website where it stated that you could get an estimate by simply emailing photos. I did that (emailed a half-​dozen shots showing multiple angles so he could see exactly what the damage is). Next day the «Office Administrator» replies requesting contact information in case they need to contact me. Seriously, that’s what he said and the only thing he said. Didn’t he just contact me? I responded back with my phone number. Now that they have two ways to contact me can we get on with the estimate for repair like they promise on the website? Apparently it wasn’t enough personal information because I have not heard back from them.
So what does this say about the business… an incompetent runs the office and/​or they won’t proceed until they have your address? I told him the piece was small enough that I can bring it to their shop. Why are they still so nosey about contact information? Does the price of the repair change depending on where the customer lives? I no longer reside in SV and am not about to tell them where I live now, zoom there goes the price!

The movers had put a quarter size dent in the lid of my Steinway piano, which almost broke my heart. Dennis took the lid to his shop and a week later returned it in perfect shape. He also fixed the damage the movers did to the top of an ethan allen dresser, making it good as new. He is detail oriented and meticulous in his work, and I recommend him without any reservations.

i can only say that this man and his crew did a wonderful job on two circa 1920’s cabinets of mine. they are simply beautiful now, and yet preserve their antique nuances. good stuff, couldn’t recommend dunne’s finishing any more highly.

I recently made a major move across country with all of my household goods and furniture.
The mover damaged some valuable antiques and sent Dennis, from Dunne’s to my home to pick up the items for repair. Having gone through this experience before, I was not hopeful for a good outcome.
I am totally blown away by the job that they did! I cannot tell at all where any of the work was done on the damaged pieces, they look good as new. I would trust this team for any and all furniture repairs. I’ve never seen better work.

It is obvious Dennis takes great pride in his work as he is incredibly meticulous. We had several gouges in our newly finished hardwood floor and they are now undetectable. I would highly recommend him for any furniture refinishing needs.

This company refinished the surface of my 12 year old dining room table that my kids had abused with indelible markers, glue and some kind of tool (scratches). The end result was perfect, like-​new and we will continue to enjoy the table for years to come. I can highly recommend this company.

After meeting with three professionals regarding the refurbishing our 1850 French dinning room set, it was clear that Dennis knew more about the pieces than the other two, and showed more confidence in his ability on how he was going to bring this set back to life.
He arrived promptly, and put the pieces in his truck as it they were his. The set is solid oak, it had two main cracks on the side boards of the hutch, the table legs were marked and scared, the chairs were butchered with wood screws and metal braces underneath keeping it together (I bought the set this way), with marks on the legs and backs. One on top of the china cabinet, the ornate hand carved wood was broken. We also bought six yards of material so the chairs could be reupholstered as the old material was faded and worn.
When Dennis arrived at the house with his worker, we discussed where the pieces would go, and he brought in the pieces one by one, treating them as if they were brand new. As each piece was brought in, I was in disbelief. I could not believe this was the same set, it was simply beautiful! I could not see where the old screws were, where the metal brackets were, where the break in the china cabinet was, etc.
He took apart every single chair, and put them back together again as they did in 1850 in France, with wood dowels and glue. One of the legs snapped in half a few years back, and he glued that back together perfectly! I mean, I can’t tell what chair had the broken leg!!! …and I looked at each chair for five minutes each!
Considering the work he did, and the end result, his price was extremely fair, and in line with the other professionals. If I had to do it again, I would give Dennis the job again without hesitation. He is a true professional with the utmost integrity, 30+ years in the business, and no BS or salesmanship.

Dennis refinished an old bed we bought at a salvage yard, then left outside for a couple of years. It was pretty cool, with walnut veneer and applied mouldings, maybe from the 1930s or so… but in a very sad state, having been living on our side yard in the wet weather. Chunks of moulding were gone or chipping off, an odd-​shaped piece of veneer was torn off… not good.
We figured it was hopeless but that it was still salvageable with some sort of distressed finish in white. But Dennis came and took a look — he fixed it right up in a few weeks and it looks amazing. He fixed the mouldings and patched the veneer and you can’t even tell where the new piece is; best of all he refinished the entire bed in a dark walnut that has a nice sheen but not the glaring shine of a new finish. We love it and would definitely use him again!

we used dunne’s recently for our coffee table repair. the legs were broken during our move from la. my husband’s company sent dennis out to estimate all of the damage. in the end, we only went with the coffee table repair. i have nothing but good things to say about dennis and his team. we just got the coffee table back today and i cannot even tell which legs were broken. on top of that, he polished the top of the table for us (had some sticky stuff and scratches). i look forward to using dennis to refurbish some other antique pieces that i bought down in la recently. he is honest and will give you his honest opinion. the man knows what he is talking about. everyone i have interacted at dunne’s has been professional and courteous. i will definitely be using dennis and his team again for multiple pieces and look forward to it.

I recently had my kitchen redone, and part of that involved removing some tilework from the side of a wooden island. The kitchen remodeling team, removed the tile, but left some of the mortar that was used to attach the tiles to the wooden island. While I could remove some of the mortar, it clearly would have damaged the wooden finish underneath.
I brought in Dennis to remove the mortar and refinish the strip where the tile was. The strip was about 4in high x 8ft wide, while the rest of that panel was about 4ft high. The first day he removed the mortar, the second day he re-​stained and polyeurothaned the surface. At this point, I couldn’t even tell where the original surface was and where he did his work. He even drew in the grain into the areas that he resurfaced. The third day he just cleaned up.
He was very prompt, courteous and kept the work area very clean including putting cloths over the tv/​stereo/​bookcase. A diamond in the rough.

Wow! I can’t believe how incredible our built-​in hutch looks after Dennis’s masterful repair!!!
We had Dennis repair out beautiful mahogany built-​in buffet from our 1928 home. There was damage to the built-​in from another worker who had worked on it and created a bit of a disaster. Although I was upset about the damage I have to admit that after Dennis worked on it, it looks better than it ever did.
It was a joy to watch Dennis work because you can tell he is an absolute master at what he does. He had a level of perfection that you almost never find. He paid attention to all details including the weather and how it would affect the final finish. (It was raining on the day he came so he came back the next day to put the final finish on.)
He also gave me tips and pointers on how to repair the rest of the woodwork in the house including what products to use and the best techniques.
The final bill came in exactly at the lower of the two estimates he had given.
Highly recommended. I will definitely call him again whenever I need find woodwork repaired.

Dennis and his crew are brilliant. I took them an old, worn, tired cedar chest, and in less than 3 weeks? they returned a beautiful, heirloom quality antique. They truly care about the wood and the project.
He is a bit pricey, but? for fine craftsmanship, you pay for what you get.
