I’ve hired Dunrite to add AC at my house in June 2016. The outcome is a (potentially) working AC (Haven’t tested in a hot day yet), but just a HORRIBLE customer experience.
I’ll split my review in to two parts —
The team — (ONLY reason why I’ve added a second star to my overall rating)
Worked reasonably good, except for one main issue which was bad electrical work. In order to get the AC connected they’ve added a wire and just connected it very unprofessionally, and in addition said that they didn’t add it, but it was there before. (The house passed full electrical inspection just 6 months ago). Their electrical work would never pass any basic electrical inspection. Was fixed upon my request.
Mike (Owner) —
I’ve worked with dozens of contractors so far. Mike is BY FAR the worst, and I’ll explain :
1. Never in my life I’ve had a contractor YELL/​CURSE me over the phone /​face to face about anything whatsoever.
2. Never in my life I’ve had a contractor threaten me — «I’m coming over to your house today and am not leaving without a check»
3. Never in my life I’ve had a contractor STEALING equipment that I paid for from my own house — My previous furnace (new condition) suddenly ‘disappeared’ after they’ve ended the job — only after I’ve demanded to get it back — they’ve returned it.
4. Mike was dishonest enough to sell me a new furnace without me even needing it (had a new furnace in place already). When I called that bluff — he immediately said that «I got it for free — and he buried the cost for it». AHA.
To summarize — the experience is just so bad. I’m still shocked to find out that business owners that treat their customers this way — are actually still in business.
The potential good news — Jessy will soon be taking over the business and will provide a completely different customer experience.

They were fabulous! I needed help on a VERY hot week and they came to the rescue. I am so happy with what they fixed. My air conditioner now works better than before!

This is based on their customer service only but if their service is anything like it I wouldn’t hire them. Rude and unprofessional on the phone. Seems annoyed to have to answer a phone call. Bought another air conditioner and install from another company and very satisfied.

We spoke on the phone with Mike about our AC not working and wanted it to get fixed right away (very hot days coming and I’m 9 months pregnant). He was very timely and came within 2 hours! Awesome!
When he came, he diagnosed the problem quickly (our capacitor needed to be replaced). Again, great news since it was an easy fix. However, the kicker was when we got the bill. $ 327! I understand that there was a $ 100 fee for coming out, fine. However, the part was something that cost at maximum $ 50 on Amazon. I guess we paid for the immediacy? I was told on the phone that they don’t do quotes over the phone, and I guess that’s why.

We got air conditioning installed by this company last month. Great work! Professional and courteous staff and reasonably priced. Highly recommend this company.

Cannot judge their work, because we didn’t get there. They refused to give written estimate, everything was verbal. Even to getting through first inspection appointment was a challenge — had to call several times, because they just forgot about it.

I was able to get an appointment to fix my AC the same day. Unlike another company listed higher on the Unilocal list who’s soonest appointment was 8 days away. The technician Jesse showed up in about 45 minutes from my first call and he fixed my unit 30minutes after that. He was friendly and thorough. I watched him test the faulty capacitor and he had me cooling before I knew it. Great service and I would definitely use Dunrite again.

The application is a townhouse with numerous nearby neighbors. The townhouse units originally had no air conditioning. About ten years ago I had Mike Wood replace the original furnace. The service was excellent, immediate and reasonable in cost. I was not exploited because I had an unhappy tenant without heat in the winter. The replacement was made the same day as quoted.
Thus, when considering air conditioning, I called Mike again. He came to the site the next morning, surveyed the situation and prepared a quotation. Mike gave me an off-​season price and did not have to replace the furnace. I verified the pricing DunRite provided and found it was indeed very competitive, as with the earlier furnace install. I said do it. His crew arrived the next day.
Jesse was the crew leader and each of the three men were professional and knew exactly what to do to complete the installation in one day. They were courteous, competent, clean and hardworking. It turned out the furnace had a preexisting fault that required another trip for a technician to replace a control board but Mike took care of it at no added charge.
A low noise level by the outdoor condensing unit was a high priority on this project and I must say the installed unit is amazingly quiet. I could not be more pleased with the cooling capacity and system quietness.
I was treated more than fairly and Mike has my very highest recommendation.

generally I don’t write reviews but I just cannot resist this as I am very pleased by these folks. Not only I got the quote over phone for an new heating and aircon the very first time spoke, I was very impressed by the sheer professional honestly of the owner. He spoke to me on an Easter weekend, gave me a price and stuck with it. he knew exactly what I wanted without looking at it. Price was reasonable and his team was outstanding. They came on time on the day of the appointment, and seemed like a bunch of happy people doing their job. Laughing, joking with each other but being professional and courteous. Happy employees speak volume about the company.
Thank you Dunrite! Hope you continue the same professionalism when I give you a service call in a distant future. We need people like you in the valley !!!
The only suggestion I would give if your people could keep things back at the same place after the work is done. But I won’t take out any marks for it.

Dunrite was recommended to me. I spoke to several companies, all referred, for estimates and explanations of what was needed. Dunrite was the last one I called. They recommended a solution that was reasonably priced, had logical reasons for their recommendations, did calculations of what was needed as far as ducts, and had it all installed in a day. They also came in with the lowest bid also.
The guys were very polite, used drop cloths, and cleaned up when they left. The heater and air conditions both work. It’s only been a couple of weeks but the heater works great and is much quieter.
I will say that the company that gave me a bid that was about twice as expensive had a smoother sales pitch but Mike was clear as to why I didn’t need the added cost. The person that recommended the company to me was a mechanical engineer and had the training to evaluate the requirements. I’m happy.

Our 30 year old furnace gave up on Sunday. I called Dunrite and Jesse showed up first thing on Monday morning. He gave us the option of repair or replace the furnace. Since our furnace was 30 years old we decided to replace. First thing Tuesday Jesse and Chris showed up and were done by around 1pm. The work was done professionally and they cleaned up nicely after themselves. I am very happy.

No show no call back to tell me they have 10,000 customers ahead of me. Terrible service don’t call you will be disappointed.

This is not the review I wanted to write, having originally called on Dunrite to diagnose a dead 4 year old furnace during the recent cold spell. Mike (the owner), came out quickly and was also quick to diagnose the issue (dead draft inducer). Being a Friday, he wasn’t sure he could get the part until Monday, so he promised to call. He seemed to be fair and honest, so when I heard the potential repair price, I was shocked, but didn’t think it was within the realm of dishonest mark-​up.
On Monday, the call came in confirming that the price would indeed be over $ 850 for parts and labor. Mike said it would be a 5 minute install, so he could do it right away. I knew (from speaking with my father and online research), that the OEM part would cost me, $ 285 with 2^nd day shipping. I told Mike that charging over $ 500 for 5 minutes of labor seems a bit extreme. To which he responded «You don’t get to dictate how much I make». He’s absolutely correct, and I told him to cancel the job. Fortunately, I do get to dictate how much I spend. So Mike, if you’re reading this. I’m sorry that it had to end on a sour note. I’m a small business owner, as is my father and my grandfather. They taught me to never take advantage of a client, no matter how small.
My advice, get multiple quotes, do some research and don’t be afraid of busting out the wrench (I did it and saved $ 565).

Condescending, pedantic and unprofessional! I spoke to another guy first, Wayne and he was busy, so he asked to call his friend, Mike (pictured). From the time I placed the call to the time he arrived, there was an air of superiority about this guy as if he was doing you a favor. As soon as he saw the place/​condo, he said he doesn’t do condos — what? Then, he said the reception must have told you that. I said, I spoke to you not anybody else. And he said he’s being doing this for 42 years, and he’s not going to argue with me. I couldn’t believe such unprofessional attitude. Guess what Mike, you haven’t learnt a thing in your sad 42 years of «doing this» — customer service and professional etiquette! It seems it’s too labor intensive for him. If he touches anything, it would be $ 90 it seems. Well, I’m not going to serve the furnace on his lap am I? That’s bloody well his job. Ask for extra labor charge or give the customer options. Do not be an arrogant prick!
I went with DeluxeAir, who came in a 2 hour notice, figured out the problem and fixed it — $ 80!

Called this place because our furnace stopped working on Saturday. Whoever answered the call could not care less about our urgency and said ‘wait until Monday’. Well, this is understandable. After knowing that it is a condo, he said ‘oh then you’ll have to wait another 10 – 15 days’. Apparently, they only serve single-​family house with the furnace in the garage. They are super super busy so they don’t have time for structurally-​complicated condos/​townhouses. However, I give them 1 star, not because there is no 0 option, but because at least the phone call was entertaining.

Hello fellow Unilocalers! Straight to the point as Mr. Dunrite says! Our AC system took a mild spill and croaked on us for a few days… just as the week long heat wave was about to roll in (South Bay)! Called up Dunrite and set an appointment for Tuesday. Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts they had to reschedule me for the following day. Understandable as I know they are EXTREMELY busy. Next day rolled in, our house was now our own personal sauna! Lo and behold, from the time of arrival, repair, chit chat, and paying (price was more than fair!): 30 minutes!!! I’m a bit surprised about the recent negative reviews about Dunrite. Yes, communication, common sense, and patience is key when dealing with any company. Especially AC, plumbing, electrical, etc etc services.
Do I recommend Dunrite? ABSOLUTELY!

I had called 3 places most of them highly ranked on Unilocal,They earliest they would have a service technician out to this location was Sept 23^rd or more than 2 weeks out!
I spotted Dunrite’s ad and called them. The owner picked it up and told me that he will have his technician call me in a few hours. He did and showed up 10 minutes after the call. He diagonsed the problem in 15 minutes and it was a lose connection which he fixed. AC came back on.
We strongly recommend Dunrite folks.
p. s. I like the fact that they have posted their technicians photo, so you know who might show up. This is helpful specially if you have elderly family members and you are not going to be able to meet the technician on site. You can email/​send them the photo of the technician who will show up. Smart move.

Our AC stopped working the night before. Called several places the next morning. They were booked up or couldn’t come until late afternoon. Jessie showed up on time and was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
He replaced our broken motor in 30 minutes and made sure it was working before he left. I highly recommend this company, specifically Jessie. His hard and timely work was much appreciated on this 100 plus degree day/​week!

I would have given «no star» if I had that option. This guy (old guy with glasses) is a disgrace… he came over to check my AC Unit… and somehow my unit just started working, when I switched it on… this guy asked for a $ 70 service charge, fair deal, and I immediately consented to pay. I just requested him to do a diagnostics and check if there is something that made my unit not run for the last 2 days… he denied and said that he won’t do anything as the unit was on… he just wanted his money that very second or threatened to call police, as if I was doing anything wrong.
He did not let me say a word and even let me restart the unit, fearing that it may not run again and he will have to work… as he just got lucky with $ 70 without even ANYTHING… he refused to check my thermostat settings… saying there are millions of models… so what else we call the experts for… he stared shouting in my house, didn’t even care about my 7 year old being there at home.
Took his money and ran away… didn’t even bother to give receipt… what a shame… all his review are paid review, I guess
You can’t let this guy in your house… if you do, you are at risk…
