Escape from the Werewolf Village in San Jose

Great way to bond with close friends or make new ones! Thanks Unilocal and Candice G for allowing me to attend this event and bring a friend of my own. The puzzles were tough and solving each one definitely felt like an accomplishment, especially under the time crunch. Bring your A squad and try to tackle the challenging escape room from the Werewolf Village in San Jose!

Whee! Super fun! I played this game not with the Unilocal group but with some of my friends. This is the fifth time we’re playing a SCRAP escape game. We didnt escape, but it was still fun nonetheless. Highly challenging puzzles, brain stimulating, highly recommended!

Big thanks to our CM Candice G. for giving the opportunity to get us Unilocalers to work together as a team in solving some mind blowing puzzles against other groups. For once, an event that stimulated our mind instead of our palette. Even though the two groups representing Unilocal didn’t complete the puzzle, this event did achieve its ultimate goal-​getting the Unilocal community together for a good time. We all made new friends at the end and for most got exposed to Real Escape Game.
All groups were gathered in a large room and given an hour to solve a number of small puzzles. Answers to those puzzles eventually are gathered to lead to further investigations along with visual clues parts of the room as well as video clues. If you get stuck, proctors well give hints to help you out. Many of these puzzles were incredibly challenging. What our group found was it was better to work together instead of dividing each puzzle per person.
Everyone was happy at the end. But there was no food. Our group had so much fun working together that while walking back to our cars, some of us decided to regroup and go fulfill our hunger. Night ended with dinner followed by drinks. Our hour working on puzzles brought us closer and we all ended becoming good friends. And that is what these Unilocal events are about.

I am extremely grateful to both Unilocal and Candice G, our South Bay Unilocal community manager, for hosting such an awesome Unilocal Elite event here! Never have I discovered such an adrenaline-​rushing, time-​ticking, brainpower-​absorbing activity until last night.
I literally felt like one of the Mathletes from Mean Girls, putting our teamwork and brainpower together with my teammates to discover how to escape from the Werewolf Village. The whole 60 minutes that we were given to plot our escape, I felt like my brain was on overdrive. Every minute literally counts. If you can’t solve one puzzle, you move on to the next. And your brain either finds a solution or stares at the puzzle for who knows how long. Basically, you are supposed to work together with your teammates to solve puzzles, translate codes, and much more complicated things. What I enjoyed about this game is that it made me feel so alive. Who were once strangers on my team literally became good teammates and friends… and I’m not kidding, we literally grabbed a bite to eat right after the event and continued to get to know each other. THIS GAME MAKES FRIENDS. You definitely have to try it for yourself! I know that they have different versions around in the Bay Area, such as something along the lines of escaping from a cursed forest… I definitely want to try that one soon! Just because I didn’t escape from the Werewolf Village this time, doesn’t mean that I won’t escape from a different area another time!

I had a lot of fun at this brain-​busting Real Escape game, tickets courtesy of Unilocal and our awesome CM Candice. Sadly, both of our 6-​person teams of Unilocalers did not make it out of the werewolf village alive.
The puzzles were well-​designed, and lots of proctors were on site to clarify things and even to give minor hints when we got stuck. At regular intervals during the game, a new video will play which will give you more information needed to solve the puzzles. I won’t give spoilers, but I’ll just say that it’s very important to pay attention to *everything* the host says and to note what’s said during the videos.
I thought that one of the game mechanics could’ve been explained better; I was led to believe that new physical clues would appear after each video, but the only new clues were in the videos themselves. I ended up wasting time checking for new physical clues that weren’t there.
The game consisted of solving puzzles on paper, and all groups were in one big room. I’d definitely prefer the more hands-​on games where you’re actually trying to escape from a room, but I enjoy both formats and would love to do a new puzzle like this in the future.

Escape from the Werewolf Village was super-​fun! So happy to have the chance to be part of this collaborative, mind-​stimulating, puzzle-​solving team exercise.
The games are well-​orchestrated — excellent for team-​building and just plain good fun! Fantastic activities for people to bond with family, friends and colleagues– especially those who love solving puzzles!
Definitely had a blast with my fellow Unilocalers and look forward to participating in more of these escape games!
