Dr. Horvath is really good with kids. Both of my kids go to her since they were born. She always has time when they are not well.

I love Dr. Horvath she is a very caring Dr. She sometimes is overly concerned and runs test but better to be safe than sorry… One of my sons who’s in his 20’s still sees her. I read some of the bad reviews and don’t agree with them. Dr. Horvath has always taken time to talk to us and always asks us if we have any questions, she has many patients so I understand it’s not a time to sit and chat over coffee like some seem to want. My younger son has been there sick enough to where she walked with us over to ER and stayed with us to make sure we were looked at immediately, and followed up with a phone call in the evening to check on him. After talking to and reading all the hospital reports. I have many friends who see her as well and feel the same way.

I am so thankful to have found Dr. Horvath! After having a horrible experience with my son’s first pediatrician I started taking him to see Dr. Horvath. She is smart, friendly and great with children. As a first time mom (or any mom, I imagine), it is such a comfort to have a doctor you can trust and is so accessible. I recently called her office because I had a concern, assuming I would have to come in for a visit, but the receptionist gave me the option of speaking with dr. Horvath over the phone first. I didn’t have to wait on hold at all and she gave me a clear concise answer to my concern and saved me a trip to the office.

We absolutely love Dr. Horvath! So much so that we have continued to take our kids to her after we moved out of San Jose. She is extremely knowledgable and proactive about ensuring our kids have the best care. She keeps up with all the latest information and medical best practices but tests new ideas against her extensive experience and knowledge! Bonus is her staff is very helpful and efficient! And Dr Horvath is funny warm and my kids adore her ;)

Dr. Horvath has been our pediatrician for almost 2 years now. In addition to well baby visits, we’ve had a Kindergarten physical, and a few viral infections for her to treat.
I’ll admit her bedside manner and demeanor took 2 minutes to get used to. I quickly realized she is extremely busy and so experienced that it doesn’t take her long to understand the problem and make a diagnosis/​treatment plan.
I thoroughly trust Dr. Horvath’s opinion so much that I’m not really comfortable taking my kids to urgent cares or any other doctor. She is gentle with my babies and I’ve learned to pay close attention to what she says.
When I mentioned to my mom that Dr. Horvath is our pediatrician she told me I saw her as a baby and she thought she was a great doctor. That sealed the deal for me.

The office is dirty. Dr. Horvath spends less then 5 minuts with you and your child. Doesn’t take time to explaine what is the diagnosis and why she’s giving this treatment. Yes, they will always fit you in for a same day app., but from my experience all pediatricians do. She’s been treating my son with steroids for way too long, just fixing the symptoms, but not treating the problem. And she is not very polite. Very arogant She yelled at me when I asked the receptionist about the bill. She got the phone and start yelling at me. She also sent me angry letter, that said she doesn’t want me to come back. And all that over ONE bill that I have questioned !!! Really ??? I give 2 stars because her staff is really friendly and I really like that she could run simple lab tests in her office on the spot and she is good at drawing blood from kid’s finger so they don’t even notice (have to be fair). Overall, you do feel rashed, and you feel like you got more infection when you out of there, because of the mess verywhere. It feels like it all moneymaking. :(

Couldnt go wrong with Dr. Horvath

In a sea of large corporate players there are still some good old-​fashioned doctors running their own practices out there — Dr. Horvath is one of them. I’ve been taking my son (who was born 2 months premature) here ever since he was sent home from the NICU over a year ago. What makes her so great? Here’s a short list:
–She always returns phone calls the same day Monday thru Saturday (she usually calls back at lunch if you call before then, or at the end of the day)
–She keeps an onsite diagnostic lab in the office so if your kid is sick she can do a quick blood test to find out if it’s bacterial or viral and prescribe medicine as needed
–You can get same day appts (except Sunday because they’re closed) if your kid is sick, therefore largely bypassing having to go to urgent care centers where you may get any random doctor
–She is just really knowledgeable, and keeps up with the latest medical studies
–She genuinely seems to care about her patients
In summary, I am really picky and she still gets my highest recommendation. If you don’t believe me, go meet her for yourself — she does free consultations for expecting parents too.
Note: She is a bit selective in the insurance she can accept (it’s mostly PPO’s), so you may want to verify yours is accepted first.

If you are looking for a good reliable old school doctor for your child, look no further. Dr. Horvath has a wealth of knowledge and she has a no bullshit attitude. She cares about you and the little one. She spends enough time when she needs to do do. She checks everything and anything when she feels the need to do so. She can do quick ear pressure checks, blood tests etc at her office. She gives the vaccines herself. Every time I take my son who is 2 years and 9 months now I am more impressed. She is open on Saturday’s which is a huge benefit for working parents. She always returns calls very promptly. Always! I highly recommend her to anyone! If my son is sick, I can always take him to her as soon as possible. She always makes way for sick kids and never makes them wait.

I have been seeing Dr. Horvath for 8 years now. She is nothing but sweet and always spends ample time with me.
I have seen a handful of doctors over the years, and Dr. Horvath is the only doctor I fully trust. She doesn’t aimlessly prescribe medication, if you don’t need it. I have experienced some doctors who just prescribe medication for everything, even if it isn’t necessary.
She is very sweet and always works overtime, in order to see more patients. I feel like she actually cares about my health.
I will be going to Dr. Horvath until she decides to no longer practice medicine!

We went to her after seeing all the great reviews. Perhaps she is a good doctor when your child has an unusual symptom or needs treatment, but for routine visits I suggest staying away. She seems nice enough, but is very quick to stereotype and offer advice based on those.
We had sleep issues with our child and brought it up with her at the 9 months visit. Her response was a stern chiding about how «You Chinese and Indians never allow a baby to cry for the first 3 years of their life. That’s what is wrong. That’s why most of the kids I see with sleep issues even when they are 4 years old are Chinese and Indian. Put her in the crib close the door and let her cry. Don’t go back in till the morning.» Umm okay, we were disconcerted but didn’t say anything to her and let it slide. Next visit when I wanted to talk about sleep, my better half asked if I wanted to get chided again and we never mentioned it. That’s not a promising sign if that’s the relationship with your child’s pede.
Where we got completely turned off was when we mentioned to her that the baby refuses to drink milk in any shape or form, regardless of temperature or flavor or source. The only milk she was consuming was from nursing. We mentioned that the baby absolutely loves yogurt and cheese though, and wanted to know if we could wean her (she was 1+ by this appointment). Her advice was to *force* the baby to drink at least 16 oz of milk a day preferably 32 oz, by squirting it in her mouth one syringe full at a time if necessary, till the baby learned to like milk! I mentioned there are others in our family who don’t like milk either and she says «that’s no reason to let the baby get away with it. Force her to drink the milk.».
I don’t know about her but if someone tried to force something I don’t like down my throat with a syringe, and 16 ounces of it every single day, I am pretty sure I will soon loathe it with all my heart. I found her advice ludicrous and strongly suspect stems from the stereotypes in her head about Chinese and Indians being «too soft» on their offspring.
I can’t imagine going back to her office to get more put-​downs and chiding, and be told that I am a bad parent for wanting to work with my child’s personality instead of against it. I want a doctor who my child can see as she grows up, who she feels comfortable talking to and getting advice from. If this is the kind of force-​it-​down-​your-​throat advice that she is going to get, it’s not going to work for her personality type. We won’t be returning to Dr. Horvath’s office again.

Been going to this office for years, first started with now-​retired and much-​loved Dr. Stone, and when he retired, we have been going to Dr. Horvath. Old school service — she calls back quickly and available for appts. on many Saturdays. New school knowledge — she keeps up with the latest medical services and knowledge. But best of all, we adore her — she’s warm and loving and sharp.

I can’t imagine why Dr. Horvath gets good reviews. Her office is a dirty mess, the financial policies nickel and dime you to death for things like phone calls or not paying a copay at the time of service and she is not exactly friendly.
My husband and I are expecting a baby in May and we are searching for a pediatrician. When we arrived at the office, there was clutter everywhere and postings of all sorts of long policies all over the walls. I felt like I was walking into a legal trap because every posting seemed to say, «if you don’t do this or that, you will be charged $ 15.» Not a friendly area to wait in. I tried to picture a child in the space and found myself wondering about the cleanliness of the office.
We were seen promptly, but Dr. Horvath didn’t introduce herself when she came in and didn’t shake hands. She has a rough touch, brisk demeanor and poor communication skills. She used the same tip to her scope to look in my ears and then in my nose. Gross. After probing mu belly, she walked out of the room and then came back a few minutes later asking if I had the test results from my previous doctor. Huh? I didn’t know I was supposed to be trying to get test results for her. Besides, how can I get her anything when I’m in an exam room without access to computer or fax? Strange.
We will not be using her as a pediatrician, nor would we recommend her.

Where to start! My daughter Zoey had a horrible pediatrician in San Jose who NEVER listened to what I had to say and my daughter had a skin condition which he had given us the wrong medication for!
Anyways. DR HORVATH is AMAZING I feel blessed to have found her, she listens and is very patient. The service is so quick there and professional. The nurse is young and does great with my silly child. The doctor always plays with Zoey to get her comfortable with her and during the physical she answered ALL of my questions and did not rush us out as our previous doctor had. She is definitely the greatest pediatrician in the area. I could not ask for a better doctor for my daughter. I am thrilled to have found her on Unilocal.All of my future kids will be seeing her for a fact! She is just plain amazing!

I couldn’t ask for a better doctor… we were referred to her by my ob/gyn…listed Dr Horvath as our pedi. when our baby was born she promptly showed up and checked her out and ever since we have been visiting her… it’s been three months now. As a new mother I have called numerous times with questions and Dr Horvath has always been really helpful. Would highly recommend her.

I am so happy to have found Dr. Horvath on Unilocal.Last year my employer unfortunately decided to discontinue our Kaiser coverage. I have been with Kaiser my whole life. I was extremely hesitant to switch to a new insurance provider and dreaded the idea of finding a new pediatrician. Unilocal saved the day for me.
After reading all of the positive reviews on Unilocal,I called Dr. Horvath’s office to see if she was accepting new patients. The nurses were very helpful and simply asked me to fax over my new insurance card to see if my plan was accepted. 5 minutes later I received a call back to say they were happy to take us and then proceeded to book our 1 year check up. Who would have thought it would be so easy.
A few days later my baby became very ill. I called the office and they were able to see us the same day. The nurses took the time to explain our insurance and billing while we waited for the Dr. A few minutes went by and we were brought back to the exam room and a few minutes after that Dr. Horvath came in and quickly diagnosed a double ear infection and gave us a prescription for an antibiotic. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes but still felt we received adequate time and attention. She answer all the questions we had and made sure we were comfortable before we left. Over the next couple of days, we ended up needing to bring our baby in two more times and had no problem at all with scheduling appointments to work easily with our schedules.
Today was our son’s 1 year check up. We were immediately brought in to the exam room and got started right away. The nurse took all of his new measurements. She was great with my son, laughing and playing with him. She made sure to chip away at his shyness until he was at ease in the room. Shortly after Dr. Horvath came in and started her exam. She was very thorough and asked a ton of questions while also answering in detail all of my questions. She really took her time and played with my son and distracted him when needed.
I really thought my previous pediatrician would be hard to beat. I really really liked her. But I think I can now say, I like Dr. Horvath much more.
In the past it was not unusual to wait for long periods of time to be brought into an exam room, only to wait for a nurse, only to wait for our Dr, only to feel slightly rushed once we got going. This has been a completely different experience with Dr. Horvath.

I LOVE Dr. Horvath! My daughter grew up with her, and she is a supportive pediatrician, and sometimes I even think she’s like a 3^rd parent. She’s always there when we need her, and she just beyond words can say. We’ve been with her for twelve years now, she’s never let my family down, and has saved my son’s life once and my daughter’s life twice. She is a hero a real hero. All other children’s doctors don’t add up to her. Even though she is very busy, she tries to make the most of the time she has with you and asks you about your day. I love meeting her, my kids are never afraid to take shots with her either. A «Doctor’s appointment» makes my kids so happy, because they know it’s just going to be a little talk with Dr. Horvath and a misquote like shot or blood test. She deserves more than 5 stars… more like ten stars!

So I hate writing posts like this but I just want to let all parents know out there, she may not be a good choice if you are anything like me, here are some reasons.
She was great when my son was born, very nice, but as soon as he started to grow, she was very hesitant on my giving him formula and if I did, she wanted me to water it down. My baby was 9 pounds 4 ounces and 21 inches long when he was born and now he’s 4.5 months and he’s 19 pounds, 27 inches. Dr. Horvath pretty much freaked out at his 4 month check up and told me to not give him rice or any veges that I needed to water down his formula. At first I was like oookkaaay, then when I left the office I felt really weird, like I didn’t feel good about that appointment at all. She was basically telling me to not feed him, and to cut his calories. My motherly instincts came in after the appt of course and I did NOT water down his formula and I still have him rice in the bottle. Why would I want to slow his growth down? He’s a happy baby, I don’t want a skinny, upset baby. I’m the one who goes home with him. She acted like I was over feeding him, not taking into consideration that we have tall pple in our family.
Another reason, whenever we would go to an appointment, she never took the time to talk to my husband and I or even look at us. She was very busy and I understood that but at least talk to us a bit about our baby. She basically would come in very rushed acting, give him the shots then leave. It was like a minute long appt. I always felt awkward going to those appts.
I’m a new mom and I just Unilocaled her because it was two weeks before I had my baby and I saw all these great reviews but didn’t have time to look at the other reviews so I chose her. If you are a new mom and do not know alot about babies, probably not a good choice. She’s very conservative and a little old school. All my friends have babies and were telling me that their 4 and 5 month old were on cereal and veges and I was thinking, geez what is wrong with my kid that the Dr told us he can’t be on it. And my friends babies were around the same size as mine. I’m so glad I found a new pediatrician, his name is Dr. Armann in San Jose, if you are looking! He’s amazing! All my anxieties I had going to her appts are gone going to his :)

My son has been seeing Dr. Horvath since he was a baby. He is now 10 years old and we see her still.
She is a great pediatrician and is always so kind and helpful. They are pretty good about getting you in the same day when you need to and don’t try and push services on you or medications that you don’t need.
Dr. Horvath and her office are knowledgeable and very friendly!

I found doctor Hovarth when my son had an ear infection. I called late at night and left a message, (they do have an emergency answering serivce but I left it in the general mail box). I got a call back by 8:30 the next morning and they squeezed me in a few hours later.
Dr. Horvath was fantastic with my son and listened to what I told her about him. Being a great doctor means listening and acting, she does both. She was really good at making him and my younger son feel very comfertable.
