Specialties
Piano instruction with an emphasis on jazz and it’s contemporary derivatives (funk, r&b, fusion, etc.), and improvisation in general.
I also teach music theory as a significant part of the curriculum, including ear training, transcription analysis, and improvisation theory.
History
Established in 2010.
This isn’t so much a business as an ad for my services. I started teaching privately, one or two students at a time, right after I graduated college, and I’ve just kept it up since.

Business Owner
I have been playing the piano for around 20 years, beginning with classical training, then moving on to focus mostly on jazz studies. I completed the extensive jazz minor at UCSC, and was an active member of student ensembles on campus. I have worked as an accompanist for the UCSC gospel choir and have performed with a number of local funk and jazz groups, regularly gigging around the S.F. bay area. Some of my more recent projects include Have You Met Reid (rock), The Adelic Trio (jazz), Jason Bond and the Committee (R&B), Semantic Triumph (funk), El Sol (Salsa), and The Saint and the Sinner Lady (Hip-Hop). I’ve had the pleasure to study with a number of well known Bay Area musicians, including Murray Low, Mark Levine, Ray Brown, Karlton Hester, and Stan Poplin. From each of my teachers, I have adopted only my favorite teaching methods, and am eager to share my experience with students.
