Kfog Fm 104-5 97-7

Since Cumulus gutted our DJs in March 2016, the station is just like listening to a streaming playlist that is stuck on the top-​10 of indie rock… no depth. The DJs who got me through the day were let go without a chance to say good-​bye, and then they put a guy from New Jersey, complete with raspy voice and no sense of local feeling or flavor or sensitivity for the morning show. Cumulus continues to sell ads based on the Foghead loyalty, but has gutted the station that Fogheads loved. RIP KFOG. Cumulus, there is a special place in hell for you.

One of the better radio stations in the Bay Area, but that’s not saying much. I still have it programmed in as one of the better FM stations.
As another reviewer said, if you want to hear something truly creative, innovative, different or new, you’ll have to go with alternative radio.

Sad. Epic failure of a once shining glorious beacon of thoughtful radio.

OMG. If i could give this pile a 0 I would. I cannot believe how bad the bay area music radio stations are. I am just up here from the LA area and had 3 awesome ALT/​Hard Rock (I might be showing my age calling it hard rock) KROQ, KCAL, 103.9 KCXX. plus they added another that I cannot remember. I come up here and I want to kill myself. I get in my car and here the same songs over and over again while going to work. I get in my car after work and here the same songs again. But yet you people protest plastic bags in grocery stores??? On top of that I used to have satellite, but my ipod connect broke so I cannot hook it up again. I feel like I am in music hell.

After the demise of 104./92.3 Alternative, I was only left with 105.3 (ugh), and bubble-​gum pop, hip-​hop and club music if I forgot my ipod (oh, or NPR which is good for the talkies, and I would’ve never listened to if 92.3 hadn’t gone all C-​Pop, so good things happened despite a major loss on the radio waves). Recently KFOG has decided to try to bring in a younger, newer group of listeners by playing more then just «classic» rock. So yeah! I’ve added their station to my quick-​hit buttons. I’ve actually discovered some new music through them which led to other new music. This may turn out to be a good thing indeed.

Too much God Talk! Music is old and getting older! Gone down hill since Dave Morey moved away. The best thing about KFOG is Big Rick. I listen to Big Rick and that’s all. If I could just review Big Rick — it would be 5 Stars.

KFOG is the tallest midget in the bay area commercial radio game. They play some good older stuff but are really falling down on the new music. If you want to hear something new and different try KSCU 103.3, KFJC 89.7, KALX 90.7. Non commercial stations are programed by people playing what they love, not what comes up next on the pre-​determined playlist. Plus… no commercials.

How is it possible that only two of us has reviewed KFOG? Well, I for one LOVE this station. I have loved this station for years. They play songs and artists that no other station does. I love the all– acoustic sets. They put together some kick-​ass concerts too! They describe their station as «world class rock», but it’s really a lot more than that. They have a great combination of indy rock (Death Cab for Cutie, Mat Kearney, Jenny Lewis, Elvis Costello), blues (Bonnie Rait, Susan Tedeschi, Chris Isaak), alternative, classic (John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Eagles, tons of Clapton from then and now)… everything and anything that is great and relevant, the list goes on and on. Not to mention the fact that they regularly play one of a kind live versions from fantastic artists… this is the only station I have ever heard Eva Cassidy’s Fields of Gold, one of my all-​time favorites, so beautiful.
I love thier «Green Page», it’s a reference filled with tons of eco-​friendly local information including places to go, transit info, a green event page with tons and tons of things to do and see, AND a «Green Rock» page, with all of the local good-​promoting concerts! They have really created a great spot to find healthy living ideas that promote a greener neighborhood and a greener world.
The only negitive I have, is that they have gotten a little bit more «pop-​ish», almost heading in the direction of KEZR 106.5, recently. Which does not thrill me. If they start selling out like so many stations have been doing lately, I will be broken-​hearted. I could do without so much vocal douch-​bagery from the likes of John Mayer. And while Jason Mraz is no douche, «I’m Yours» is just waaaaay too much pop for this station. Not to mention that is such a cliché. One of the reasons I have always loved this station is because they have *never* been cliched. So I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come! But none the less, it’s still my favorite. And as long as they keep playing the music that I do love, I’m theirs. Oh geez, was that a cliché?

What? No one has reviewed KFOG??? HUH? I’m baffled because I have been a Foghead since day 1! That’s right, that first day back in 1981 when they went on the air. I love this station! Despite being owned by THE MAN, the do a good job of programming and doing things for the local musicians. I never would have heard of Ray Lamontagne had it not been for KFOG. I happen to like the morning crew too… Dave, Peter, Greg, they just mesh well together and they sound like they are having fun too. This startion plays a good mix of old and new. I just wish they were based in San Jose and not San Francisco. But then it would’nt be called KFOG, would it?
