We make any event special with our friendly staff and mouth-​watering cookies, make-​your-​own Sundae Bar, made-​to-​order gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches, or pre-​packaged Ice Cream Sandwiches.

We also have Customized Gift Baskets, Customized Labels, Customized Flavors, Vendor Opportunities, Franchising Opportunities, and are available for purchase at retail locations throughout the Bay Area.

History

Established in 2004.

In 2004, an experienced Bay Area restaurateur (Bob) met a savvy baker (Felicia). He found out that she shared his passion for creating fun with food. With the help of family, friends, and a lot of creativity, Kicks Cookies and Ice Cream was born.

Bob and Felicia began catering their delicious cookie and ice cream sandwiches from their bakeshop in Willow Glen. They brought their delectable delights to corporate and private events, weddings, fairs and festivals, children’s birthday parties and anywhere else flavorful fun awaits!

Since 2004, Kicks has supported local dairy farm, Clover Dairy, for all of our dairy and farm fresh fruit, baked with Guittard chocolate, and taken great care in baking gourmet, organic treats for the Bay Area. We are locally made, support local businesses and farms, and environmentally aware. Also, since 2004, we’ve used biocompostable servingware made of sugar cane fiber and potato starch.

I finally had a chance to grab a cookie/​ice cream sandwichy thingy from Kicks when I was at the Japantown festival but I think I made a mistake by initially having really high expectations.
I had the peanut butter cookies with chocolate gelato (lady said it was gelato, I’m pretty sure it was gelato). It was already packaged in plastic and she just took it out of the cart and handed it to me. The lady told me to let it defrost for a few minutes but I waited like 10min because I thought it would be easier to bite into. Cookie was really soft, pretty much crumbled away as you bite into it but the peanut butter was lacking. Chocolate gelato was, chocolaty, but it seemed to have overpowered the peanut butter I was supposed to taste from the cookie.
Overall it wasn’t not bad, but not memorable. Next time I’ll be sure to grab a snickerdoodle/​strawberry ice cream/​cookie sandwichy thingy, that looked pretty good. I still have yet to try C.R.E.A.M. so I have the ability to compare.

I think I broke my jaw taking a bite out of their ice cream cookie. It’s super hard.
I was super excited thinking that they were going to grab a few cookies and scoop some in between but totally disappointed when they just grabbed it from the box, having it wrapped in a plastic bag.
We had the Dark Chocolate cookie with Mint Ice cream inside. The cookie it self was decent but the ice cream was very mediocre.
$ 4.00 bucks for this is far from being worth it.
I think I would rather just buy a box from a local super market, than get it from here.

OMG! So Delish!
At work we were out to lunch and saw the Cookie & Ice Cream cart. My co-​worker and I decided to put our money together and get 1 of each flavor they had and bring them back to the offie…
$ 4 for cookie & ice cream sandwich sounds really expensive but when you take a bite it all becomes worth it!!! Best Flavors! you do not need a big lunch b/​c the tasty treats are so filling!

I’ll be completely honest, the one time I went to KICKS it was completely ruined by what I had witnessed earlier in the week.
This past week KICKS decided to put on of their ice cream carts in front of Piazzas which is right in front of Ricks Ice Cream. I found it to be extremely low of KICKS to put their cart there. At the very least they could have maybe put the cart at the other end of the lot. But no, instead they set up shop right in front of their store. There was absolutely no purpose in KICKS being in Palo Alto (20 minutes away from their location in San Jose) other than to try to steal Rick’s customers.
I understand that business and competition come hand in hand but it was just so unnecessary and uncalled for for them to show up in Rick’s lot. It’s like something an immature teenager would pull.
As for my visit there I had a cookie sandwich, which didn’t even come close to Rick’s Whoopie Pies.
To KICKS management, I highly recommend you learn how to play nice, you’re not going to get very far with shady tactics like that.

My sister and I found KICKS at the I had the Splash Art Event in Saratoga. We came here and supported KICKS due to another ice cream vendor present at the event. This was actually the first time I’ve had KICKS. The gentlemen that was working the cart was very friendly.
My sister was requesting their red velvet ice cream sandwich. Too bad that it was not available at the event. So to substitute she got the chocolate chip/​mint. I decided to go with the dark chocolate/​expresso and snickerdoodle/​strawberry. We kinda let them thaw a little bit because they were hard from freezing in the cart. Once we let the ice cream sandwiches thaw. They were ready to eat. The ice cream was good but cookies were very dry.
These ice cream sandwiches were worth a try. I guess I’m more use to ice cream sandwiches full of artificial favoring. KICKS is all natural. I’m willing to give KICKS another try with their red velvet ice cream sandwich. Got to support and respect small businesses!

Nothing more than flavored frozen hockey pucks. So damn overrated it’s ridiculous.
Think, people. Ice cream. Cookies. There’s nothing special about either of them, not even when they’re combined. It’s hardly original, nor is it some culinary revolution. It’s a gourmet twist on an Its-​It ice cream sandwich. The quality of the cookie is nothing special. The ice cream is nothing special.
The vendors they have seem to freeze these sandwiches with Dry Ice or something and this ruins the quality that this company asserts. Frozen foods numb your taste buds, how could any of you even taste anything special?
I had a KICKS Ice Cream Sandwich at the BBQ Festival in Campbell. I had high hopes. The weather was just way too hot that weekend, so we went ahead and bought 2 sandwiches. They were frozen solid. I could have broken a tooth. So we decided to leave Willow Glen and chill out at Santana Row instead. We put the sandwiches in the center console of my car and they were finally semi-​edible when we reached Santana Row.
Then, they melted into a sticky mess. There’s no compromise now is there? The sandwich will never be evenly defrosted. This is just a mess and I imagine a parent’s worst laundry nightmare.
They range in price, I think I remember paying 4 or 5 tickets (BBQ Festival currency; $ 1=1 ticket). They are literally the size of a small hockey puck. No cookie and ice cream combination on the face of the earth is worth this price especially not for this sandwich.
Sorry, I’m just not impressed with… an Ice Cream sandwich.
I’ll KICK this one off the list of things I’ll eat again.

To the consumers (me)
1. Regarding the location and «store». Its not really a store, its a catering business that does a ton of events and was kind enough to let us stop in an buy some products when they have them available.
2. Yes the price is higher than others, but I think its worth the treat.
3. Let your Ice Cream Sandwich sit for a minute or two to soften a bit before you bite into it. The two I had tried were soft cookies and the middle was as well.
To the Owners
Seems from the reviews there are a few things that the customers are saying.
1. Get more of a «store» going.
2. Lower the price a bit or make the sizes larger.
Either way — I will come during your operating hours, bring my own napkins and correct change :)

Walked into a kitchen area where it looks like people were packing up. They said hi, while I just stood there for two minutes wondering how I’m going to order since I couldn’t see a menu. Then they call for someone in the back and a guy walks out. I tell him that I wanted ice cream sandwiches. He opens a small free-​standing freezer and shows me the ones they had — packaged already as if they were selling at 7-​eleven.
Me and a few friends had a few ice cream sandwiches. We were going to pay with credit, but turns out they didn’t have electronic machines, had to do it by hand using a stamper. Ended up just paying with cash to make things easier.
Overall, their cookies are good, but nothing to be excited about. The main thing is the filling. There isn’t ice cream in the sandwiches, they’re actually filled with gelato! That’s what makes them so good… it’s not ice cream, but it tastes very rich like ice cream. I love it!
Sandwiches are a bit pricy at $ 4 each sandwich, but definitely something to try!

I wanted to love this place because it brings together my favorite things in life, ice cream and cookies, but unfortunately I wasn’t that impressed.
Their location isn’t really drop-​in friendly because when you walk into the place, there isn’t a stand/​counter or anything really to see what type of options you have for ordering. After we chose our ice cream sandwich from the little freezer in the corner we sat in the car to finally get a taste of these amazing creations.
Maybe I should’ve let it soften a little? Maybe I chose the wrong combo? I don’t know what it was, but these ice cream cookie sandwiches were closer to «ehhhh» than «AMAZING!!» At $ 4 a piece I really wasn’t impressed at this point. I have visited Diddy Riese in LA and to be totally honest those bad boys are great at $ 1.50 a piece! And you get to choose the cookie/​ice cream combo you want… I’ll give this place one thing — the cookies are softer than Diddy Riese, but not that soft or fresh to win my vote.

I visited KICKS with fellow Unilocaler Kelley B to see if all of the hype was worth it. We had tried a small sample of the little sandwiches at a Unilocal event before, but had to buy a whole one to experience the real deal.
I have to say that I was slightly disappointed, although not completely devastated after our visit.
Here are my two cents:
+ Chocolate/​Espresso Bean is the business. It tastes pretty good.
= I couldn’t tell if it was «fresh» or not. Although I could see workers making cookies, all of the sandwiches are stored in a freezer in a huge pile, so there’s no way to tell exactly how freshly prepared it is
— It’s pretty small for what you pay for. One of these little guys can easily fit in the palm of my [moderately-​sized, man-​] hand
— For 4 bucks, it makes you wonder if it was worth it, especially when those Tollhouse ice cream sandwiches are around half the prize, and when Diddy Riese ice cream sandwiches are 1⁄3 of the price and double the size =/​
— There’s nowhere to sit inside. The location is more of a warehouse than anything else. If you ask for napkins they have to go way into the back to find some, and the nearest chair to sit down is, well, the curb.
— They have horrible hours. The store opens pretty early in the morning but closes every day at 3pm. (who wakes up at 9am to get an ice cream sandwich?) Because ice cream is more of an afternoon to evening treat (when people get off work and school,) it’s surprising that they have these hours and that they’re CLOSED on the weekends!
Overall, this place barely earns 3 stars for the above reasons. If they refined their system a little, I would want to go back. Until then, I have to say «Sorry, KICKS. You have been KICKed to the curb.»

I ordered these cookies for my coworkers at my new job. I heard that they were super yummy so I wanted to give it a try.
When I got there, I was surprised to find that it was like a warehouse. It didn’t really look like it from the outside. The lady was quick to help me and gave me a bunch of samples. That was really nice of her. I finally decided on the red velvet cookies because they were soft and different.
I had them individually wrapped and picked them up on Monday to give them out on Tuesday.
When I got them, I was disappointed to see that they were individually wrapped, but the plastic bags were not very festive and did not have logos on it. It was basically a plastic clear goodie bag wrapped around a cookie.
Also, when I looked at all the cookies, I noticed that they weren’t all cooked evenly. I ordered about 40 and half looked like they were still gooey in the middle. I opened up that was an extra one the day after they were made and realized that it was soft in the middle, but hard on the outer edges. I guess they start getting dry even a day after. I was disappointed in the texture of the cookies, but I had to give them out anyways.
I think if I were to go back here, I would only go for single packaged things like the ice cream sandwiches. Their bulk order cookies are not that great.

Thank you Berkeley Bowl for carrying Kicks (now you don’t have to go to San Jose to get these gourmet, handmade ice cream sandwiches). BB had five varieties of Kicks. I selected Chocolate Chip + Vanilla Bean ($ 3.59).
I was surprised by how hard the ice cream sandwich was but then in the end I appreciated the firmness. Most ice cream sandwiches are too soft. The thick chocolate chip cookie part was surprisingly chewy and firm for a frozen cookie. I really enjoyed the crunch of the big chocolate chips (maybe this was the best part). Tasty cookies on their own, they were even better with a generous, super thick layer of Gelato Classico vanilla bean gelato in between. While the gelato could have used more vanilla flavor, it was still quite good. If there was any weakness to the sandwich, it was the ice cream — not the best but better than what you usually get in an ice cream sandwich.
Quality local ingredients in a delicious, all natural ice cream & cookie treat!

The storefront is more of a wholesale warehouse for this event catering business. An arty dressed man, who I presume is the owner, even stated that it’s «A little crazy.» There are ice cream vendor carts, freezers, and the like within the space. Since nothing is displayed the art man opened several freezers and took out each ice cream sandwich individually and placed them in a line.
So much variety to choose from. I asked him what his favorites are and he said the chocolate cookie with raspberry sorbet or the snickerdoodle cookie with the strawberry ice cream. Since I was already eyeing the snickerdoodle combo I bought it. These are not cheap at $ 4 each. You soon forget the price tag once you start munching away.
I loved my cookie ice cream sandwich. I ate it so quickly that I was surprised that I didn’t get a stomach ache. The cookie is chewy and buttery without being heavy. The ice cream gave me an oh-​so-​nice refreshing feeling. The best part of the ice cream sandwich is the portion and size. It perfectly fits your mouth and you never get that «burger sliding» effect.
For those who want softer ice cream sandwiches, let the product thaw for five minutes or more. I was fine with my frozen treat. Letting the ice cream and cookies melt in my mouth is an awesome sensation.

I keep thinking about the red velvet ice cream sandwiches I missed out during Dancing on the Avenue, so I decided to visit their store out on Lincoln Ave.
When I first arrived, I thought the place was closed. Hardly anyone in the parking lot and when I looked inside, it was dark and empty. I decided to try opening the door and it opened. YEA! I walked in and heard voices in the back, so I quickly went back to my car to get my wallet. I rang the bell on the side table and a man greeted me. I asked him that I wanted a couple of red velvet ice cream sandwiches. He proceeded to look in several freezers and eventually told me that it looks like they ran out. WHAT!!! Anyways, I decided to try the chocolate chip cookie-​vanilla bean and snickerdoodle cookie-​strawberry ice cream sandwiches ($ 4 each). Both were yummy, but I liked the snickerdoodle one the best. These sandwiches are easier to eat if you wait about 10 minutes or so especially when they come out of the blast freezer.
The place is not set up as a typical storefront, but who cares once you get your hands on these treats. I’m saving the 5 star rating once I try the red velvet ice cream sandwich.

Ultra tasty, and ultra friendly service.
All I got to say is that it’s all about the dark chocolate cookie sandwich with the mint chip ice cream.
Me and my friend were little piggies at the Unilocal event at Mountain Winery and shared at least 3 sandwiches between the two of us.
I will update my review after I order some more for a couple work events this month. Woohoo!
I may just gain about 3 pounds after this event. Who cares right?

DE-​LISH.
As in OMG — I can’t stop shoving this ice cream sammy in my mouth– DELISH!
I finally got to try Kicks at the last Unilocal event and ALL of the hype was true!!! With over 6+ flavor combos to choose from, I was a bit overwhelmed. But when the super-​friendly staff member said «mint ice cream», I knew it was the one for me.
I savored the Dark Chocolate Cookie with Mint Chip Ice Cream. YUMMY!!! The cookies was moist and chewy and paired beautifully with the creamy and decadent ice cream. These peeps know what they’re doing with ice cream sandwiches!
I got to take nibbles off of a Chocolate Shortbread with Mango Sorbet Sandwich and a Snickerdoodle with Strawberry Ice Cream. Both were delicious but my combination was the best! (I heart mint chip so I may be biased!)
I can’t wait to get my hands on another Kicks Ice Cream Sandwich soon!!!

Who said ice cream sandwiches are kiddish? KICKS’ ice cream sandwiches are perfect for all ages & pallets. I had the opportunity to try one of their tasty creations at the Unilocal Elite Event at The Mountain Winery on Wednesday. It was hard to choose between all the different offerings; I got the strawberry ice cream sandwiched between 2 huge snickerdoodle cookies. OMG, can you say FOODGASM??! It’s one of the tastiest things I have ever put in my mouth (don’t be dirty) & was my favorite food item that night! The cookie had a nice chewy texture & the right amount of cinnamon, & the strawberry ice cream was perfect with big chunks of strawberry in it.
My bf enjoyed his vanilla ice cream in between chocolate chip cookies.
Ugh…I want another one right now… one more reason why I’ll miss San Jose!

I finally tried one of these. KICKS had a cart at last night’s KFOG KaBoom!, and they were selling four types of their ice cream sandwiches for $ 4 each. I tried the mint chip ice cream sandwiched in between two dark chocolate cookies.
I loved the chocolate cookies a lot. They were thick and coarse in texture, had a crunchy exterior and a nice and chewy middle portion. The ice cream was very unspectacular. Even though it was freezing cold outside and the winds were whipping the ice cream melted way too fast creating a sticky, drippy mess. I had to run back to the cart for more napkins! One good thing I can say about the ice cream is that it had good stretch similar to a good gelato.
