KSJS 90.5 FM

I like their radio station since they do play good music on certain days. Last semester there was a SJSU student from the radio station knocking on my door asking if my cousin is interested in purchasing monthly magazines and he said not interested. An hour later my door rang this time I opened the door and the same student who is black, about 5’9 and slim said oh you’re somebody else and his classmate a white girl about 5’7 and slim blonde hair came up to me and both were happy that they found out I’m a new student at SJSU. They asked me if I was interested on purchasing monthly magazines for $ 20, of course I said NO and I don’t want to waste my money on that and they simply had a frown look and I could hear the blonde girl cursing under her breath feeling dissapointed. I don’t have anything against Sjsu 90.5 station but teach each other professional manner and not to look like an asshole Spartan.

Best college radio all day! Love the dirty beats that they throw down during their electro shows.

I’ve been listening to college stations since the early 90s yet find myself still in love with 90.5 nearly two decades later. Yeesh, I just gave my age away! OH WELL. I’m deeply rooted to this station so much so that my little ones know who’s on air when we listen in. Now, that’s what’s up.
KSJS supports and showcases local artists and talent from all walks of life allowing the general public the benefit of being part of such art and insight into what’s going on and who’s doing what in their community.

KSJS is a student-​run radio station broadcasting 1500 watts from the campus of San Jose State University. It can be heard from south San Jose to South San Francisco. The station plays primarily 5 categories of music, with each DJ shift running 4 hours. There are also a few public affairs programs, and the station also broadcasts play-​by-​play for several SJSU sports teams.
As one would expect from a college radio station, KSJS plays non-​commercial music. Although much of this music is new, songs often remain in rotation for months at a time, meaning that you’re likely to hear a fair amount of repetition if you listen a lot. It’s hard to become loyal to the station, because the music formats changes at random throughout the day, and the entire schedule changes 3 times a year.
Unfortunately, the station has little of the spontaneity of other college radio stations. DJs are not permitted to play their own music, and they have to adhere to rotation strictly. As a result, there is little of the quirky, individualistic programming you find on other college stations in the South Bay, such as KFJC. The station should either stick to one format, or it should allow its DJ’s to program their own music.
On the other hand, some of its public affairs programming is quite vital. The station broadcasts «Celluloid Dreams,» an award-​winning talk show about movies, on Monday afternoons. On Sunday nights, «Radio Ethiopia» is an important voice for the local Ethiopian Community. «Mecca One» has been discussing issues of interest to Muslims for many years.
