I highly recommend Language Connection, though understand there are various ways to take classes (private, group, etc) and several languages, so it’s entirely possible your mileage may vary.
The primary strength of Sophie is her organization. If you left the last class on item number 7 of page 8, she’s going to start right there despite having to remember the progress of dozens of other students in dozens of other classes.
She is also very good at detecting your weaknesses. If you have a problem with say, prepositions, she will make a note of it and teach it at a later date.
If you are taking just one or two classes a week, you should plan to supplement with Rosetta Stone or other exercises. It is also somewhat spendy; it would be nice to have a bulk lesson purchase plan or some other system.

Language Connection makes learning a second language interesting and fun. It’s not a typical program as there is not a class or lesson with definite start or stop date (like a class at the university). You can ‘roll into’ an ongoing group lesson or take individual lessons. The instructions are pretty reasonably priced and they offer you a lot of different language options. I took private French lessons prior to traveling to France and found the instruction very useful for my trip. I would gladly take lessons in the future when traveling abroad (I think they teach Spanish, German, Chinese, etc). I also enjoyed that the speakers where ‘native’ speakers and gave useful information about the culture in addition to the lessons. Overall, I would recommend that you check them out.

I took 8 group classes in Spanish, one class per week. This school is different from traditional scholar methods of learning a foreign language, and at first it really got my attention. Cause learning it the «traditional way» is not always fun. But one hour per week without homework didn’t get me very far. I was hoping for tons and tons of homework, with classes providing some guidance and direction. I gave it a try, it didn’t work for me. Spanish would be my third language. I have pretty good feel whether or not I’m making fast enough progress or fooling myself. These classes could be a good supplemental course to other classes I suppose.
