I would like to give another perspective about Dr. Lappen.
We’ve been going to her for the past 14 years, at our first meeting she explained what needed to be done in order to keep our child healthy, we went to three cardiac surgeons and one other cardiologist. There were many opinions but in the end we decided to stay with Dr. Lappen (Dr, Hanley performed the surgery) she was the most conservative in her approach and the more calming presence overall.
We’ve been very happy with her approach throughout the years, she is consistent, welcoming and thorough.

We’ve been very disappointed with Dr. Lappen as well as her staff. She warned of dire consequences if we did not quickly do a procedure for our daughter with a specialist. Then, she didn’t return our calls or give us follow up appointments until I told her staff how upset I had become. When she finally called she denied that my daughter’s case was serious until I reminded her of her own diagnosis. She’s a reactive and excitable person and that’s undesirable in a cardiologist.
Her staff has proven virtually incompetent at providing records for 2^nd and 3^rd opinions. It took another cardiologist’s staff person to walk them through procedures (twice) before we finally got all my daughter’s records from them.
