Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen

Such a wonderful non-​profit organization!
I actually attend St. Maria Goretti and was always interested in volunteering for Loaves & Fishes, so I finally decided too! On their website you can actually pick dates on which day to volunteer, which makes it way easier.
Volunteering is pretty simple, from setting up the hall, to food prep and actual serving. A little bit of work to set up, but rewarding in the end. The people who come in are always grateful and friendly, just as much like as the workers and the people in charge.
The people in charge of the kitchen and program are great and informative, there are always regular volunteers as well who are always willing to help new volunteers out!
I’ve volunteered with L&F a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it every time! :-)

I just got back from volunteering here and I had a great time! Denise, who coordinates the volunteers did a great job and she’s so friendly. Right when I came in, i signed a few papers and went straight to work. There were about 10 other volunteers there and we prepared the food, served it, and cleaned up afterward. I was in charge of serving soup! The patrons who came in were very grateful and were smiling ear to ear. It’s such a wonderful organization. There are a few regulars that volunteer there so they know exactly what to do and can guide you through if it’s your first time. They have so much to give to the community and I was glad to be a part of it.
If you’re interested in volunteering, it’s really easy! Just email the volunteer coordinator (email found on website) and tell them when you want to come in. They usually take a day to get back to you. Hours are 3:30−6pm Mondays to Fridays. Today, everyone worked really fast so we finished at 5:45pm =)
