The downtown Los Gatos Brewing Company is closed.

Food is rather sub-​par and frankly… overpriced. They also exclude the happy hour menu when there is a «special event» aka a concert or hockey game at SAP Center (which is why you would find yourself there in the first place).
My mom and I both ordered a glass of the house chardonnay and we noticed that our pours were very different from one another. One had almost double!
The house salad split 2 ways was enough for both of us and my favorite element of the meal. For $ 8, it was an ok deal for two people.
My main course were the fish tacos which cost $ 15 but were served a-la-carte…I wrongly assumed for the price it would be a full meal. The fish was tasty (ish) but the rest of the taco fell flat. There were lots of tomatoes and lettuce and not a lot else. I was pretty hungry after having poked through both.
My mom had the salmon and it was very fatty and seemingly cooked in butter. The potatoes also had bacon bits which some may like, but we were both trying to eat healthy so it a little frustrating to order the grilled salmon and end up with a 1000+ calorie plate.
All in all, we called it a bust. Service was slow and they didn’t have enough staff to attend to the tables. We ended up waiting 30 minutes just to get the check. Next time we will head somewhere «happier»

I came here because I had won a $ 50 voucher for this restaurant, otherwise, I wouldn’t have known it existed. It’s a pretty large restaurant, with a bar area. We had gone on a weeknight, and it was actually busier than we thought on a weeknight.
It’s more of a restaurant for the older generation as it was mostly families, old folks on a date, or something of that sort– not to be rude. Be aware that this place is actually quite pricey, which may explain why it’s the older crowd.
My friend and I were seated pretty fast, and we were brought out bread with oil. The bread was normal sourdough and a bit hard and cold. Our server came, and although he was a very nice gentleman, he has a pretty strong accent and it was hard for us to make out what he was saying.
We both ended up ordering NY steaks that come with vegetables and mash potatoes. The vegetables is their vegetables of the month, and he had told us that for that month, it was green beans. I didn’t want green beans, so I opted out for a salad and so did my friend. We both got our salads and our steaks. I feel like mine was cooked a little wrong, but I still ate it anyway. The mash potatoes come with it, I forgot either on the bottom of the steak or on the side, but there is no gravy, so it was a bit dry except with the juice of the steak.
Even with our vouchers, we had to put in an extra $ 20 or so dollars to end that meal. I wouldn’t normally come here because I don’t think it’s worth the money, but if you have a gift card or voucher, why not. I don’t know if I would necessarily return as the night life isn’t my type of night life. I would say it’s worth a try, but their menu isn’t really that extensive, so if you like your choices, this isn’t the place to go.

Let’s start with the good… the service. Our bartender (and later server) was on point. She was attentive, friendly, made meaningful suggestions and generally pleasant to be around.
On the note of «meh» I found the beer to be lackluster and food was just okay. I had a Kolsch and then Saison, both were lacking in the flavors expected in these two classic brews. I was particularly disappointed with the Saison. It was really missing those floral notes the beer type is known for.
Our appetizers were good/​okay — wings were good, fried risotto balls were just okay.
For the entrée, I had the fish and chips. I was expecting a classic beer battered fish fry but received a light bread crumb shell. The flavors were okay but nothing blew me away. If I didn’t know any better I would say that these were frozen breaded fish filets that were fried before serving. This is just a guess.
My biggest gripe is the beer. There are so many great beers out there, so much intense competition that these guys should step up their game or be washed away in the tide of more flavorful brews.

This is a pretty nice bar with some decent local specialty beers.
The interior of the restaurant is nice and exquisite, and there’s a few tables for those who want to chill by the bar. Their beer list has a good variety and is sure to please anyone who likes light or dark beers. The food is typical American — just sandwiches and burgers mostly. I had a tri-​tip sandwich and it was very average. I think this would be a cool place to chill for happy hour but none of the foods items were really special.

2.5 to 3 stars is about right for this downtown San Jose restaurant…
We came by with some friends this weekend… Weather was nice… Wanted to enjoy a nice meal.
Overall, it was A Ok.
Service was fine/​food was fine.
When you walk in, I don’t really how you would think it is a brewery. We sampled their beers which were ok. The stout was the best.
The food came out hot. We liked the half chicken the best.
We would probably try another restaurant in the area instead next time.

Came here during Memorial Day weekend (specifically FanimeCon) to avoid overcrowded restaurants that were closer to the convention
First note, despite having some good looking food on the menu, it seems that you miss out on a vast majority of the enjoyment if you do not drink.
My food was fish n chips with extra chips since I didn’t want my coleslaw. The fish was alright but I had better for far cheaper. Fries were good though
My husband had gulf shrimp and I liked it but he wasn’t a fan of the batter
Our friend had a cheese pizza and said it was okay but he wouldn’t come back for it
The bread we were given in the beginning was pretty good with the olive oil and our waitress refilled our drinks pretty often
Service was overall nice but my friend thought the smiles on some of the staff seemed a bit forced
All in all, decent food but I’m unlikely to visit here again out of a whim due to not living in downtown SJ (plus annoying parking) but it could have been worse.

I was here for a birthday celebration 2 years in a row. The reason for coming back? Simple, they have an awesome patio area that can accommodate large groups (we had 30+) and the service is great too. Their food is not too shabby either, but overall it’s the ambiance and service that won me over.
Bar scene: Definitely check out the bar up front if you’re stuck waiting for a table. Dominga and Bree are some of the sweetest bartenders around.

We were seated right away and the waitress was very friendly. We split a burger and side salad (actually she had the kitchen split it for us, we didn’t have to ask which was awesome). The burger was
delicious and salad was fresh!
We also ordered a few drinks as well and service was fast! The girls were hustling and very attentive. We would definitely return especially when there is a Sharks game!

Was passing through SJ and stopped in for a quick dinner. Ended up trying a flight of beers, which turned out to be rather tasty and had the fish tacos. They were sizeable tacos so getting 2 wasn’t bad, it was a bit pricey though ($ 15 with avocado) so that takes a little away from it. Sat at the bar and they weren’t busy so service wasn’t an issue.

There are a number of reviews that cite poor service, and we found those reviews to be valid. We went on a Saturday night. There were other customers, but not real busy. We asked for beers and an appetizer. We got our beers, then we ordered dinner. Our server said that our appetizer would be coming. She came by our table sometime later to let us know again that our appetizer was coming. She brought our dinner to us — yep, no appetizer.
When our check was delivered, all our dinner plates were still on the table with our meals completed. She went to a nearby table Bd began talking casually with other customers in a manner that conveyed that they knew each other. I had to interrupt their conversation to ask that our plates be cleared so that I had room to sign the bill.
He food was decent, but the substandard service made this a non-​repeat.

Nothing stood out to me here for a snack as good, but there are other things I still remember. Why were we the only folks here? Why did an order of Tombo Tuna Tartar taste extra fishy? Slightly awkward and barren.

Los Gatos Brewing does make you feel welcome.
Service was prompt and professional. They didn’t have
a lot of their menu but later in the evening I did see a pizza
appear. We tried the Caesar and the chicken wings. I do like
their Caesar dressing and the wings were pretty good too.

Came in as we passed by on our way home, we took a seat at the bar and asked the friendly bar tender about the happy hour specials they had. After pulling out three or four different menus and covering the beer, cocktails, wine and food my husband went with a Bloody Mary and I chose a Tito’s martini, for those who have never tried Tito’s vodka, I recommend you do, it is vey smooth and I think I even prefer it to grey goose –my gamble to try something new paid off! Sadly the bar was out if tomato juice to make the other drink we had ordered, according to other reviews running out of things here is quite normal?!
When we asked about the beer selection and if they brewed any themselves (which I was a little shocked the bar tender didn’t tell us about) he offered us samples to taste and freely offered up his own opinion when we asked about his favorite.
Other than being out of a product I’m always saddened when my server doesn’t offer up his name, after a round of drinks and some polite chic chat we never did find out the round mans name.

Short Story:
A good place for food and drinks in downtown San Jose.
Long Story:
I came here on NYE to celebrate with friends. The place was quite nice with excellent choices of food options. The prices are reasonable. There are a number of alcoholic beverages to choose from.
The service was spot on and the décor and ambiance were nice. I would recommend this place for happy hours, group gatherings, and maybe birthday celebrations.
Verdict:
I’ll stop by when the opportunity comes up.

I’ve almost always been treated well service-​wise, even on busy days, especially before Sharks games. I am also a big fan of their bread sauce.
This place serves one of THE best pork chops I’ve ever had.

Went here to watch the NBA Draft while 95.7 and Greg Papa were there broadcasting.
The vibe, décor, seems to me like an older, more mature type of place to hang out. It’s very clean.
I ate a burger and had some beer. The wait staff were attentive and quick.

The less than flattering rating is strictly for the dish I ordered.
I came here on a weekday at lunch time to have lunch with a friend. The restaurant is quite large, so it was barely half full at lunch time. We sat at a side table, which was out of the way of other conversations and made it easier to carry on our own. My friend is a regular, and both the hostess as well as the server made him extremely welcome. They were willing to make a salad with grilled, rather than the blackened special, just for him.
I ordered a pasta with grilled cauliflower, mint, basil, and pepper flakes. I asked if it was really spicy and was told that it was not because there was only supposed to be a sprinkling of pepper flakes. Well, it was a bit too spicy for me because it was definitely COOKED in chili oil. There was also a coating of chili oil at the bottom of the plate. I know there was mint, but I could barely taste it. I think that the chili oil spiciness of the dish completely overpowered all other flavors. I’m sure there was a nice grilled crust on cauliflower because I could see it, but I definitely couldn’t taste it.
I would consider returning to try some of their other dishes, but I would probably avoid the pasta dishes. Or at the very least, I’d ask for it to be made less spicy! I’m such a wimp.
They validate parking in the public lots!

I’m surprised that LGBC isn’t better rated! Honestly, everything was great across the board: food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. The bread and dipping oil they bring out for you to snack on is a nice touch, and delicious. I had a very generous salad (sounds like an oxymoron, but there were fat shrimps on it!), and our server let us have happy hour pricing for appetizers and beer even though we weren’t in the bar area. He was attentive and quick to bring things out.
There are lots of tvs if you wanted to come here for a game, but the décor is very nice (Christmas lights up when we went) so you don’t feel like you’re in a sports bar. The prices were standard. It wouldn’t be my first choice for happy hour drinks and appetizers, but it was quite pleasant.

We were suppose to participate in the SJ Eats moveable trucks, but it was way too crowded so we settled to eat here. Other restaurants were really busy with long waits too and this one seemed less busy.
Service was a bit slow. We had to wait like 10 mins for a table and someone to acknowledge us. Seems like staff was short or something since they didn’t think it was going to be that busy.
The bar area was so packed, so we wanted a table. Atmosphere was nice. We were seated at a booth that was nice.
We loved the complimentary sourdough bread with the amazing different dips. I wanted more of it.
Food: I ordered the crab cake sliders which came with 2 of them with fries. This was delicious. My bf ordered the cheeseburger and added jalapenos but he said the jalapenos were too sour, instead of spicy.
Prices are ok, a lilttle on the expensive side. Our burgers were around $ 10 but entrees are around $ 20+.
I would come back to try other foods and drinks.
