Mangos Mexican Grill

This was the closest restaurant to my old firm, and for awhile it was A-​Ok. The food isn’t bad and the service is friendly. But. And it’s a rather large but. This place is just… the best description I could give is to picture a seafood soup in a plastic cup next to a Motel 6. That is this place.
The area isn’t great, and it’s usually empty, even during the lunch hour. Most of the staff don’t speak English well, and ordering for pickup is a battle. Plus you always get the fun transient crowd that hang out in front of the Motel.
My main issue and the reason this isn’t a three any longer is that I (and a co-​worker) started to have a particular side effect after eating here with some regularity. Our skin went absolutely awful and it wasn’t until we stopped eating here entirely that it resolved itself. While we believe it was the lard they use, we never really figured it out.
It’s not a bad, «I’m in the area» stop, but not a regular go-​to by any means. Especially if you have sensitive skin.

My 3 year old daughter, my wife, and I was all able to find something to eat here. Being a vegan family, we were able to modify a few dishes to fit our diet. We were surprised there was only a few options though to easy modify.
As for the food, this was the first Mexican restaurant we have eaten at since we moved to the area over 2 months ago. We had some good Mexican food from Western Kansas, but regional area may make them different so I am hesitant to give too hard a review. That said, I was a little underwhelmed by the food.
They have a kids area, but my wife and I were concerned do to a wet rug and bottle in the play area. The main eating area was clean. The staff was nice, and did there job well.
In the end, we will probably not return, but that isn’t to say someone else shouldn’t try out some of there other dishes and drinks.

I tried the pollo crema, it was excellent! I will definitely be back again. Loved the thick chips with the salsa. The refried beans were the best I have ever had. Quality food prepared well!

Came here for lunch, very good service and food! You start with chips and soup, then I had a Mango taco and the enchiladas which were just delicious!

Really tasty food. I’m so impressed. My 7 mares soup was delicious. The ambience is also very relaxed and warm. Great service too. We were here for thanksgiving lunch :)

Authentic as it gets. Great stop off before getting on a redeye back to the East Coast.

After looking at the reviews, I thought u would try this place.
I won’t be back. The food is okay, but nothing great. The room is loud with music and multiple tv.s. Service is slow. The salsa didn’t impress me. The prices were way too expensive for what you get.

One of three places I eat Mexican food north of San Diego.
Recommend #82, the whitefish stuffed with crab, shrimp, octapus, queso fresco and veggies.
Slow down a little when you get here and the service will feel like you’re on vacation.

Salsa is bomb.
The portions are big i ordered two tacos and could barley finish.
The service is mediocre.
Prices are decent.

We were so excited to try out a new resturant. I checked the reviews…4.5 out of 5 stars OK this place should be rocking.
We ordered 3 margaritas, 2 shots of Patron, carne asada burrito & a pollo super taco.
Let’s just say the experience did not live up to the reviews. There was a hair rolled into the burrito, not on the outside. The regular margarita had a lot of something in the bottom of the glass. I don’t know maybe I’ve watched to many bar rescue episodes. It certainly wasn’t pieces of lime.
But the worse part is the bill came to $ 49 minus the burrito with the hair in it. They charged the same price for a shot of tequila as they do a margarita.
Disappointing is an understatement. I was really hungry since I hadn’t had much to eat today. But now I’m just praying I don’t get sick.

Incredible tacos! Amazing burritos and the nachos are superb. I must say this place knows good Mexican food, however the service could be better. The horchata is quite fabulous. If you’re in the area, try it out! You won’t regret it.

Les recomiendo mangos Mexican grill, tiene una excelente comida pero sobretodo muy buena atención.

On a short vacation in San Jose, was looking for a good Mexican restaurant. I started looking for restaurAnts on Unilocal found one that caught my attention. So funny because as i was trying to find the restaurant that we wanted to go to i notice this bright little building on the side of the road as i was u turning, found Mangos Grill. This place had poster all over their window with delicious food it made me so hungry decided to stop by and try it out. My husband and i were so happy we did stop here. This restaurant is nice and clean which its a plus for me since cleanliness is a must for me. Entering the restaurant the employees made us feel welcome, our waitress was very friendly and
Had a great sense of humor. We were seated right away since it was not that busy. My husband order a michelada beer and i order a strawberry margarita (both were extremely good). Husband said best Michelada he had ever had. I have to say we both were very pleased and satisfy with our food and drinks. I definitely recommend this place and definitely will come back if we are in San Jose.

Honesta mente uno de los mejores restaurantes en el área. Tienen los mejores molcajetes que e probado. Silvia que es una de las meceras es una mujer Bien alegré y siempre nos ase sentir muy cómodos. Tony que es el dueño y el chef tiene una mano para la cocina increíble. La salsa que sirven es la mejor y el consomé no se queda atrás. Muchas gracias por su hospitalidad. Un lugar muy recomendado.

Extremely disappointed I’ve been sitting here for a half hour and haven’t even received the appetizers we ordered. I asked for 5 minutes to look at the menu and it’s been 25. For what they are charging you would at least respect the customer. Not to mention they have a party going on which they are giving preference to. What kinda shitty service is that? Don’t own a restaurant if you can’t handle the heat ! I was better off going to tequilas on the west side.
Update: finally got the appetizer and must say the food is pretty darn good (so far) and makes up for the awful service and tardiness and rudeness. Nevertheless the quality of food is impressive so I might just bump up the stars after the main course. The main lady who originally helped is seems to be the only one working she’s the tallish thin one with long hair. The other lady working is dissapointing she took our menus before we even ordered the language barrier didn’t help either. Let’s face it we have to be able to communicate. Nonetheless the original waitress is great.
Main course sucked. 70 dollars later.

My first time here. Came here because of the great Unilocal reviews around 5:30pm for a family dinner on Cinco De Mayo. Immediately, we were greeted and asked to sit anywhere. Place was a bit empty but we were having an early dinner. The homemade chips and salsa were bomb! I ordered the nachos and a margarita. Both were really good. We asked for waters all around and we never received any. The waitlist was busy accommodating everyone else for us to nod to her to ask for waters a second time. When the margaritas came out, I remaindered her we needed water for my daughter and us. We finished eating and it was really obvious– my husband was walking the baby and my ten year old was playing with the candy machines. I had to wave for the waitress again for our check. By that time, I was ready to go and left home very thirsty. I think the waitress was overwhelmed with the people coming in as it got later– I only saw her waiting tables. She was very nice and pleasant though. Place is big and good for a big party. I don’t know if I will come back.

I have been driving past this little gem for 10 years and finally decided to pull in for Cinco de Mayo.
The meat was excellent and the service was friendly and the margaritas are worth it.
I’m glad I took the time to stop by.

Had a work day lunch here, seafood are fresh and huge portion. I’m all filled up by the oysters.
All the sauces are flavorful, lots of layers and everything is well made.

Buena comida pero mal servicio, las meseras no te preguntan que quieres tomar hasta despues de 20 minutos que me tomaron mi orden y para empeorar el servicio mi comida se la dan a otros clientes y lo que les ordene no me lo dan completo, ordene unas papas fritas para mi bebe y nunca me las llevaron hasta que me pare para pedirles nueva mente las papas las meseras pasan por tu lado y no te preguntan si ocupas algo o necesitas algo mas no volvere para nada espero cambien su servicio para los otros clientes

It was a Friday and my boyfriend and I were looking for a sit down Mexican restaurant. we found it. The food does in fact deserve the five stars it receives, the carne asada and shrimp was juicy and flavorful, and what I had specifically noticed was the perfect texture and color of the beans. They had appeared to be made the same day as well and were presented well for being a side dish. I tend to look at the beans in specifically because I prefer them more wet with crumbled quesa on them. Not just was the food awesome but the customer services is perfect, immediately upon arrival all the staff had smiled, waved, and thanked us for coming. They make you feel like they are honestly happy you have came, though I do still wonder why every other table got salsa with their chips and we didn’t? Perhaps if you order fresh guacamole you don’t receive a side of salsa?
The really only down side to my visit was the out dated decorations and the entire restaurant’s presentation, once you see the flat seats at the booth with holes and dirt surrounding you begin your dining expectations low but the food and service clearly pack a punch to that.

They were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions, so that was a plus!
I had the super veggie burrito mojado and a lemon margarita (which was AMAZING). The food was also great!
I’ll definitely be back!

Deliciosa comida para empezar chips y salsa echos al día y un caldito que te sorprende de lo rico que esta. Molcajete, platillo patron, acápulco d’lux, platillos que tienes que deleitar. ve y pregunta por eyos te los recomiendo no t vas a arrepentir
