Was really happy to find this place which was recommended by a friend. I found some long lost brews that no one was buying and are hard to find as they are no longer brewed. I would love to see this guy’s cellar and see what else they have for sale. Big plus in my book for craft lovers!

To iterate a fellow Unilocaler, «Hidden gem» I did not even know this place was within walking distance from my home. Double Bonus. I am beer guy and I loved their section of beers. But just eyeballing around the store it looks like their section of spirits and wine is quite good as well. It does not look like much from the outside, so do not be deceived. Take a chance and walk through the wardrobe closet. I cant really speak to the level of customer service. I didn’t demand much from them except to take my money. They did that very well.

I called this place with a simple question if they had a certain type of beer. The person who responded was very rude and condescending. I will never offer them my business!

Amazing place. We went here for Pliny the Elder. They got stocks in once every month and you can only buy 1 bottle per person for this type of beer. The owner and his wife were the nicest people I’ve met. They accidentally charged us more than what we bought(the store was super crowded at the time) so when I called to ask about the charge, the owner was soooooo sorry, he kept telling me how bad he felt and asked us to come back for our refund. We returned couple of hours after the call, and the owner’s wife recognized us without any words(the owner wasn’t present) and she immediately said sorry again. And the special thing is the owner wrote«sorry note» on a piece of paper attached with our refund. We felt so special and in love with this place right away. Honestly you don’t get this kindness in business so often any more. I’m glad we found this place so we can enjoy amazing beers, we’ll come back next month for sure.

Great selection! I stopped in front and almost didn’t go in because it looks like any Bud Light and Almaden corner liquor store. But that would have been my loss. A great selection of bourbon, tequila, gin, craft beers, etc. Nice guy at the front. And the prices were reasonable. Like BevMo! without the miles of aisles and locked liquor cabinets. A true hidden gem.

Maplewood is the right hand… It’s the go-to… Liquor store in the cable area. With a huge selection of alcohol, you are almost guaranteed to find what you need or what you didn’t even know you wanted. The beer selection is why I come. The owner Peter does a great job curating the beer. Always a new beer to try as well as stocked with the classics.(Follow the store on Instagram to keep up with what they have) Overall: will return and being friends.

«Hidden gem.» One of those Unilocal cliches you haven’t seen in any of my reviews until now. I walked into this place thinking it would be just a random strip mall liquor store and was definitely caught off guard by the amazing beer selection. There’s so much craft beer to choose from here that I find it truly overwhelming. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no need to ever go to BevMo since this place is closer to my home. Too many amazing beers to list here. On my last visit, I scored a six pack of cans of Ballast Point’s Sculpin Grapefruit IPA. They also have a back corner filled with American and Mexican lagers if craft beers aren’t your thing. I’m not a big consumer of spirits these days, but from what I’ve seen, that selection is quite extensive as well. If you live in the neighborhood — heck, even if you don’t live in the neighborhood, you should check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

Great selection of small batch /craft spirits and beers… I recommend checking out any of the Rogue’ Whiskeys, Barr Hill Gin, or any of their canned IPA’s like Red Lady or Ballast Point.

Best liquor store I’ve seen in the South Bay. I’m mostly interested in spirits, and their selection is fantastic. I much prefer this store to BevMo. And the prices are lower than one would expect for a mom-and-pop shop. Great service too. Highly recommended.

While visiting from the east coast, I ventured in here to get some beers that aren’t available back home, specifically Pliny. They didn’t have any available, but Peter was very helpful and recommended me a bunch of other west coast beers. We also had a little discussion about regional differences in distribution. Turns out y’all don’t get Bell’s and Founders, suckers! I left with some local IPAs and sour ales, and I was very happy with my purchases. I came back the next day because I wanted to get one more sour to bring home. Peter remembered me and got me a bottle of Pliny from the back(it was being held for someone who never came to pick it up). What an awesome store. Fantastic selection and great owner who loves talking beer without being pretentious at all. I will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.

Our favorite liquor store, we love Pete, who is there most of the time, the selection is fantastic, especially for craft beer, great location(across from Lunardi’s on Union), plenty of parking, reasonable prices. We found them through Unilocal. We are IPA /Hoppy lovers, and are never disappointed.

This place is like a toy store for beer! My sister sent me here to pick her up some big ol bottles of «Lagunitas sucks» the bottle was HUGE. They have so many options of beer to try, I was so surprised I’ll have to come back for myself someday soon :)

I don’t know why all the 5STARREVIEWS? I went here the place is just alright. Average prices on all there spirits. Now if they had better prices than Bev-mo or safeway sale items I would rate them higher. Otherwise it’s just your run of the mill strip mall liquor store. The guy at the counter was nice.

Objects in your mirror may be larger than they appear! Such is the case with this unassuming liquor store tucked away in a non-descript strip mall in the Dry Creek neighborhood of San Jose which has quickly become my go-to ‘secret’ spot for hard-to-find spirits. As a bourbon lover(ok, some might say snob), I’m constantly on the hunt for the limited release stuff which most liquor stores known for carrying speciality items have a years long waiting list established… which basically ensures you’ll start collecting Social Security before you score that elusive bottle of Stagg! But not here, they have no list… it’s democracy in it’s finest hour. First come, first served! So persistence pays off, as was the case this week when I scored a very rare bottle of Angels Envy Cask Strength! And the cool thing about Maplewood, is Peter(the owner) puts these type treasures, including limited release craft beers, on Instagram so no more calling or random drive by’s to see what’s in stock! And to boot, the prices are VERY reasonable! They do NOT jack prices up on the rare stuff unlike some other area favorites… yeah I’m looking at you Coach House(but I still love your sammies!).

Great liquor store if you’re looking for craft beer! I was staying in the area for work, and after a long week was looking for some nice tasty craft beers to help wind down. I picked up a Bear Republic Café Racer 15, and a Lost Abbey Framboise de Amorosa(enjoyed both immensely). Prices seemed to be reasonable and the selection was awesome. I ended up chatting with cashier about various breweries and beers for about 10 minutes after he rang me up. I’d definitely be back if I was staying in the area again.

This is not just your typical liquor store… oh no it is so much more. Not only can you get essentials like sour patch kids, chips, beef jerky and coors light BUT they have hundreds of craft beers. There are walls and walls of single bottle n six packs of local and far away craft breweries. I definitely impressed my fiancé by stopping here when he wanted to pick up some beers the other night. A new neighborhood favorite.

Used to come here a lot when my friend lived in this area. The prices for alcohol are good. Decent selection, but kind of a small store. The cashier is always friendly.

This place is a gem. I was surprised as well, maybe I should be giving this place one star so no one else finds out about it? I searched high and low for the likes of Russian River Pliny the Elder since the bf has become quite the addict to specialty things … seems like the more rare its occurrence the more he likes it … but anyway as many of you in the know, know, this beer is an elusive animal. A quick search brought up Maplewood Market, and I thought to myself… REALLY … a LIQUORSTORE?! I’ve had my share of liquor stores and I was totally, absolutely skeptical. However, when I finally arrived here, I knew it was different. It was located in a large plaza and not in some little corner along a gas station on the street, the owner was friendly and the place was stocked to the brim with great selections of wine, hard liquor and beer. Oh the beer. They probably had almost every kind of IPA I’ve heard of being talked about, but in a bottle! They even had shock top, in a bottle! The selection is phenomenal. You can’t beat this place, don’t even bring up BevMo! I didn’t end up getting any Pliny, yes it was that elusive, but rest assured they do get shipments and you might get lucky sometimes!
