Dr. Zare specializes in Advanced minimally invasive surgery of the gastrointestinal system. His practice focuses on weight loss or Bariatric surgery (including Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-​en-​y Gastric Bypass and LapBand Surgery), Surgery for disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (including Gall bladder/​gall stones, hiatal hernias, gastroesophageal reflux disease, colon cancer, achalasia, etc), and Abdominal wall and hernia surgery (including inguinal hernias, umbilical hernias, etc).

Since completing his residency training at Georgetown University in 2002, Dr. Zare has performed more than 5000 advanced minimally invasive procedures.

Meet the Business Owner

Marc Z.

Business Owner

Dr. Marc Zaré is a board-​certified surgeon who specializes in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is considered to be a leader and one of the foremost experts of his field in Northern California.

Upon completion of his general surgery training at Georgetown University, Washington, DC in 2002, he received additional sub-​specialty training in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2004, Dr. Zaré was appointed an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Boston University, and the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Surgical Simulation at Boston VA Healthcare system.

He later relocated his practice to San Jose, California where he currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Director of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Dr. Zaré has authored numerous peer-​reviewed publications and book chapters, and has been an invited speaker at over 50 international, national and local meetings.
