Matos Auto Towing & Transport

Like others, I would give this scam-​fest fewer stars if possible. My car was stolen, and when the police found it, had it towed to these scum-​bags. When I talked to them on the phone after talking to the police, they said it would be $ 200 to get my car back. When I got there, the owner told me that it will be $ 370, because they close at 5 and there is a $ 85 «gate fee,» and because after 4 hours, they charge $ 85 for storing it for a day – the guy said it had already been there for a few hours (it was shortly after 4:00). I tried calling them shortly after, before they closed at 5, to ask them to tow it to me. I was given the runaround, with 3 or 4 different people taking my call and forcing me to give them all of my information over and over. Finally I was told that the front desk person had clocked out at 4:50 instead of 5:00, therefore they were already closed (kaching, charging gate fee early!). The owner finally took my call and said that the yard is officially closed and it would be at least an hour before anyone was back there to release my car to me.
After this complete nonsense, I called the police and was routed to their Vehicle Records desk, where I found out that an officer had only found my car at 2:37, which means it was towed after that, and I’m going to guess it took the tow company more than a few minutes to get the car. So when the owner had told me, at around 4:00, that my car had been there for a few hours, he was lying, it had probably been there for an hour or less. When I first got to the office, shortly before 4:00, I also talked to one of the drivers and got the distinct impression that he had just brought the car in – he was able to tell me details of its state. Anyway, the Vehicle Records people told me that I had 4 hours to reclaim my car during which they could not charge a storage fee, giving me until about 7, I’m guessing. You’ll notice that 7:00 is after the time of this posting. Yep, this all happened today.
These assholes are scam artists, doing everything possible to maximize the amount that they are able to charge me to reclaim my stolen car. The fact that I even have to pay someone to reclaim my stolen property is already an absurd notion. If this is not resolved with a maximum charge of $ 200, I will be taking these mouth-​breathers to court.

I would give them a –5 stars if I could! They lied about towing my Mercedes on a flat bed! They had to pull it out of how the car was parked.
Staff was rude and yelling at me! I didn’t want them to touch my car as I see them as stealing my car off the street a public street!
When I went back and saw my car it was covered in dirt and writing to go to auction. There are also signs on their building that saw auction around the corner.
While towing by car they destroyed the breaks, ripped off front bumper, looks like they where trying to chop shop my car apart. Convertible is now broken, break lights are on now and check engine light. Perfect working car now destroyed!
I was out of town and returned the weekend before Labor Day so I had to pay extra plus now I am out a car and waiting in damages to be repaired!

Horrible! They are Thieves they won’t bring my cousins bike out already paid 540 bucks they want to charge another 85 bucks to bring the bike out of the shop just trying to make money won’t even let more then one person in to put the bike on a truck.

Worst service ever. Not friendly, quite rude actually. Don’t use them for towing ever or recommend them! Horrible!

This company is not professional and will not help out and take advantage of a situation to make an extra buck. I had scheduled a vehicle the day before to be picked up and asked what was the preferred method of payment so i can plan accordingly as the tow truck driver would pick up the vehicle and there would be no issue of payment, I asked credit card or check? They said credit card, otherwise i would have made a check out and give it to the tow truck driver so when he got there, there would be no problem. Well the tow truck driver left south san francisco (i am in san bruno) and when he got there i called to make the payment and they said they dont take credit cards over the phone? i was WTF, if that’s the case i would have made a check and give it to the tow truck driver. I ask the owner why not? and he simple said «that’s my policy» I don’t see the reason behind this as only to make things difficult. They would not make an exceptions. If you can’t inform people correctly and least make up for it, but they wouldn’t. It’s their way or the highway. They make their money on people’s unfortunate circumstances when accidents happen and they are on rotation with the police calling them to tow the vehicles. They don’t care to make peoples life easier in these situations as only to make it worse.

I wouldnt recommand this company to anyone I know. Simply witnessing the way their tow truck driver cut people off and sticking out their middle in the company tow truck to tell people to «F» off. If this company could accept this type of behavior from their employee, I wouldn’t requst any service from this company PERIOD.

I asked for a tow truck and I was told it would get there in 45 minutes, it didn’t. It got there an hour and a half later. Of course I didn’t need their services anymore.
The one star is for the tow truck driver that was nice when I told him I didn’t need him anymore.

avoid this rip-​off service! $ 90 to have my car tow to a repair shop 2 miles away! My mistake for assuming the cost would range between $ 45 – 60 maxed. Shame on you…
Be sure to ask for pricing if you are desperate enough to call them.

I bought a bug from a guy that met me halfway he lived in Santa Barbara. He advertise new motor …
not so new because about an hour into the drive my car started making a weird noise… long story short it made a huge cloud of smoke a loud bang noise on the freeway and coasted off the freeway… and she blew!
I called several tow companies and went with the lowest quite, obviously…
They showed up… the guy was very nice professional and helpful and most importantly very sincere about my unfortunate situation.
I’ve dealt with many tow truck companies in my lifetime and my experience has always been they are usually grubby, not friendly and treat you very robotic… And sometimes rude!
Not my experience with this Matos guy. I have to say that this guy was absolutely the best. When he was finalizing the paperwork in front of my house… I asked him how long he has been doing towing… cuz I felt like forever I joked «20 years?» He said fifteen.
I thought to myself, it definitely shows!
Anyways he got my car home, unloaded it, and even helped roll it into the garage, charged me and then left.
Because I was so discombobulated that some guy I bought a car from just ripped me off $ 3000 and the car blew up on the way home– my brain was way far left field that I forgot to tip the nice guy! Duh… he just provided excellent «service“and no tip?! I felt bad once I realized he already drove off!
Its been a few months… and my friends needed a tow… I said call this guy. I found the receipt and I thought… I could Unilocal him! Another duh moment. lol
Anyway– I wanted to write a review to say what a great guy! I would have never remembered his name if he told me, not sure… But his name is on the receipt, its Pedro.
I have to say as a business owner, myself, he’s somebody I would definitely want working for my business. He is professional, nice, friendly, and helpful!
That’s the kind of people I want to deal with!

Towed my car during a car accident without my permission. Basically stole the vehicle and when I called to retrieve it, they said I wasn’t allowed to retrieve the vehicles on the weekend. They were extremely rude and unhelpful.

I got into an accident and my car got towed by Matos. I went there to pick up some of my stuff and There were Three of my knives and a flashlight, worth rughly $ 200, missing. The guy who got me to the car was very rude and refused to give me any paper saying that I didn’t take any knives or flashlight outta car so I can have proof that I didn’t take them instead he insisted that I sign a paper that I took stuff out of the car. went back there on Monday and filled a complaint and never got a respond back from the manager since s/​he is never there I called couple of times and they were really rude on the phone and unhelpful

GREAT service! very very nice guy! i didnt get his name but he was great! my brothers tire blew out in a neighborhood near Evergreen college and they were good on timing! exactly the time limit the dispatcher said it’d take. it took 30 minutes, but it was worth it. this was the closest towing company near us. will call again if I ever have to! (:

Quick and great service. Their prices are cheaper than most places as well. I didn’t get the name of the guy that helped us but he tried his best to get our key out and was very nice about it. I would use them again if I ever lock my keys in!

These guys are good. One of my buddys locked his keys in his car and these guys came out within 10mins and opened it up real quick. Check them out there legit

I called last minute and went down the list and found this one to have the best price for towing from S. San Jose to Oakland on a Flat bed.
The driver Mitch was very friendly and we chatted all the way to Oakland.
He liked my car also

I call this tow service and they were extremely professional. Promptness is an understatement. I was taken care of and Raymond picked up and delivered my car like it was his own. If I get in a bind, Matos is the tow to find.

These guys were good to me. The woman on the phone was very helpful. They responded well, and were quick to go get my car in Bakersfield. Best price too. The Tow Driver was new to the job, very friendly and took good care of my vehicle.
Highly recommend and would use again.

I called #ROAD on my Verizon phone at 7 pm last night because my back passenger tire was hissing and a huge metal piece protruded from it (yeah right in the middle of moving).
I can change a tire, but what the heck do I pay $ 2.95 a month for to my cell company?
Matos 2 came out. It took them 1 ½ hours to get there, but I was at home so it didn’t matter. Their driver was SO nice and fast. My son loved seeing the big tow truck and watching the tire come down from underneath the van.
If you’re stuck somewhere, I’d trust them. Plus, the driver was HOT!
