Very happy with the service I’ve received here. Brought my car in for service twice over the past year. Outstanding job and accurate time approximations as to when the work would be completed. Car comes back detailed, so in a weird way, my accident got me a car wash.

I guess the front bumper got hit in the parking lot, as the corner was loosened/​haning from the fender. I was not sure if it will totally fall out when I drive on the highway, so I did a walk in without an appointment. They were very professional. I am extremely happy with their service.

We had our car repaired at Michael J’s and discovered a gem of an operation. The courtesy of Joaquin as our coordinator was outstanding. He kept us informed all the way through the four week procedure and was always available for questions and upgrades. The whole staff at Michael J’s went overboard to make our experience the best possible. We will surely return to Michael J’s if we again need body work for any of our cars. Worked with Joaquin and he’s great. Consistent communication with me regarding status of my car. He also handled all the communication with the insurance company too, so all I had to do was drop off and pickup. Repair was great and car came back to me looking like new, even washed and the wheels all shined up. Definitely would recommend Michael J’s to family and friends.

Very pleased with the thorough service we received from Michael J’s shop to repair our 6 month old Subaru. Joaquin was amazing at organizing our repairs and ensuring everything was repaired to the highest standards.
We chose Michael J’s based off the recommendation from the Capitol Expressway Subaru dealer after my 2015 Crosstrek was rear ended on highway 17. Joaquin took care of every detail and was the bright light in the mess of dealing with the insurance company of the man who hit our car. The absolute worst body shop experience or any car experience for that matter. How they are the recommended body shop of Capitol VW is beyond me. The repairs took about 2 weeks… just as expected, but expect absolutely no communication from them as to how the repairs are. However, they were quick to call to remind us to bring the check from insurance… go figure. My wife had to keep calling and calling over the course of about two weeks just to keep up on progress with the repairs and pending insurance investigations. Between communicating with them and the insurance company we filed a claim with, it was one giant clusterf**k. Finally on the day when my wife picks up her vehicle, there’s cracks in the bumper and the body shop admittted fault and the cracks were caused by A MINOR HIT IN THE AUTOBODY LOT. Seriously, how does that even happen??? Avoid this body shop at all costs, they don’t deserve any additional patronage after this whole ordeal.

Ask for Joaquin at the Almaden Road location. He did a great job managing my repair. Of coarse, the body shop engineers did the great repairs and paint work.
My 2013 Ford Focus was in an accident. Joaquin made sure all repairs were included, and contacted other insurance company to cover missing repairs from insurance company estimate.

I just picked up my car from Michael J’s and I have to say that they exceeded all of my expectations. The quality of the work, the attention to detail of the repairs is amazing; it’s like I rolled a new car off the showroom floor. The single most important element to my experience was the customer service. Joaquin as my expert. He answered every question about the bodywork and explained every nuance of the Insurance coverage. Great work, great people, why go anywhere else.

They did a great job of repairing our car and even removed a small dent that was there before the accident without us even asking. The paint matches perfectly and the interior and exterior of the car was super clean. The staff was so friendly and helpful and Joaquin did an amazing job with our car. I would recommend them to anyone looking for body work on their car.

I recently got in an accident and had damage done to my 2011 Chevy Avalanche. I chose Michael J’s because they were recommended by the dealership that I bought my truck from and a friend mentioned the name. Sergio went above and beyond for me and helped me throughout the entire process. Even down to dealing with the not-​so helpful insurance company. Great communication from the very start. I highly recommend them for any of your body work needs. I can not say enough about the wonderful customer service I have experienced. And did I mention that my truck looks bad ass again, all thanks to Michael J’s!!!

What a horrible experience. And now because the hours listed for the business are incorrect, I’m being charged a full day out of pocket for my rental car and my do. FOR THE RECORD THEY CLOSE AT 530 NOT 6 pm! LONG TIMELINE !
July 29– car taken in for estimate
July 30 — no estimate received by insurance July 31– call and speak with Vivi about estimate, she informs me that Joaquin was out but that she would rewrite the estimate and submit to insurance.
Aug 3 — still no receipt by instance, Vivi said that she had already submitted but within minutes of her talking to me the insurance received it Aug 4 — dropped off car at 12 pm Aug 8 — called to find out what is going on, the person who answered said that he would have Joaquin call me on Monday.
Aug 10 — Joaquin calls in the afternoon and said they were looking at the car and it should be Friday.
August 12 — called again to check in and he said they were waiting for a part. He told me that the estimate went up and I explained that I already knew that because the insurance told me that they had already sent a payment. Said it would probably not be ready so I should call enterprise to extend. When I asked how long he said until the next Friday.
I did not get a single update without calling first until my bf called and demanded answers about the car. I had let Joaquin know that I work in SF and I needed a little notice to ensure I could get there to pick up the car. After my bf called in, Joaquin called me and said the car would be ready that day (August 20 — around 230pm). I told him I wouldn’t be able to make it that day. I called on Friday to make arrangements to pick it up. Each time I called to Joaquin’s extension it would go to voicemail. I finally got a hold of Nicole on Friday the 21^st and asked what time I could pick up the car. She said the latest I could pick it up was 530. With traffic there was no way I would make it so she said that Joaquin would be available at 830 on Saturday. I told her that I would be there at 830 and she said ok.
Aug 22– 840 am, drive up and my car is not outside, door to office is open and no one is there. I wait 5 minutes and leave a post it note on the front computer with my name number and time on it. I made the specific appointment because I had other appointments that day. I had to leave to make my 930 appt. As I was driving I called three more times and no one responded. I called again and Joaquin finally answered the phone. I told him that I had gone there at 840 and that no one was there and he said «oh I was around back pulling out your car» I explained that I had waited and that I never saw him come out and his response was «oh ok yeah that’s fine just come by and pick it up» as though it did not matter that I just wasted time and gas to go there. When I arrived there was another person in the office to do some work and Joaquin says «Stacy? I just need two signatures from you». I was already annoyed that I had to be there twice and I said «aren’t you going to walk me around the car?! I have no idea what you have even done to it» Joaquin took me out to the car and I explained to him how frustrated I was at his ability to communicate with me throughout the process and he said it was just because I always «beat him to the punch» to make a phone call. I asked him how they did the work and he didn’t seem very sure of the actual repairs. He said «we painted only where the damage was» which I know they blend paint into the other panels. He didn’t show me the pieces that were replaced (bottom trim which still isn’t put together properly) or the wheel that was reconditioned or even open and close the door that was damaged (he would have seen that it doesn’t close properly). I told him that he spoke with my BF originally about everything and that I would like to know what was done since they had my car for 17 days to do an original quoted work that said 7 days. He gave me the work order and told me «here! You can read it» I told him I don’t know what this stuff says and he continued to be rude so I told him he was unprofessional. His response was «you are unprofessional and I really don’t care what you think of me! I’ve been doing this for 15 years and I know I do it right». I told him that I had already heard that about him from my boyfriend which he then lied and told me he had never met him. He lied again and told me that he had never told his manager that he made a pickup appointment with me hours before he actually called. After I was completely frustrated from his lack of professionalism or any sort of pride in his job, he asked me «so are you going to leave it or take it or what?!» I had already turned in my rental and from what I would assumed to be completed work, I walked in to sign off. When we went into the office the same man was still there and then Joaquin’s attitude changed. «Ok can you please sign in these two places. Here is your key. Again I’m sorry it took longer than expected. Have a good day.

I am so impressed with this body shop. First, this body shop picked up my car from my house with a tow truck and took it to their shop. They began evaluating it, and didn’t start no labor until we went and signed giving our consent. They made sure to keep in contact with us through the time my car was with them. My car went in totally damaged from the front bumper, wheel and alignment needed to be done again.
When I went in to get my car it was like falling in love with it over again, they made it look better than how it originally looked, gave a fresh paint job, cleaned the interior, and gave us warranty. Vivi was amazing, explained to us step by step on the warranty, and answered any questions we had.
A note to mention, my car was a Toyota Camry 2012, and they also work with State Farm Insurance. I will definitely recommend this place, and sure will be coming back if anything. They are so professional in their work, and how they work. Thank you Michael J’s.

My beloved 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX STI sedan was rear ended while I was waiting at a light on my way home from work recently. It was a hit and run so you can imagine how «elated» I was at that moment. (Look out fellow South Bay motorists because if you see a red Ford Explorer with Subaru Ice Silver paint on its front bumper, it’s driven by a lower form of life that can’t stop at red lights.) I called the local Subaru dealer where I originally bought my car from (brand new) and they quickly said that they sent all their body repairs to Michael J’s and gave me their phone number.
I don’t know if you’re familiar with us Subaru WRX owners but we are *obsessed* with our vehicles. It doesn’t matter if it’s a WRX, STI, sedan, hatchback, giant obnoxious wing or wingless… we absolutely *LOVE* our vehicles. I’m a die-​hard Subie fan so the idea of taking my STI to just any body shop that has no experience with these cars (or their notoriously finicky owners) wasn’t my idea of a fun Saturday morning. Before going to Michael J’s, I got a few estimates from other San Jose body shops but that turned out to be a waste of time because the estimate that I eventually got from Joaquin at Michael J’s was the cheapest.
Most important to me though was that Michael J’s has lots of experience with working on Subaru WRXs and WRX STIs. They’re vehicles that are well known for crashing into things and thus needing body work. (Subie owners love their cars but they do tend to drive them rather hard, or as Subaru words it in the owner’s manual, «spirited.») Just before I dropped off my STI, they just finished repairing another one that had its entire right side damaged because the owner slammed sideways into a curb. I was willing to pay a higher price if the job was done right and my car was well cared for.
Joaquin gave me an estimate (around $ 1050) and thankfully it looked like just the plastic rear bumper cover needed to be replaced. He also provided me with an estimate (extra $ 250) if the steel bumper underneath the cover had to be replaced as well. As I said before, it was the lowest quote that received so immediately I made an appointment to drop off my car in a couple of days. Joaquin said that if no structural damage was done to the bumper, the job would take three days but I made it very clear that first and foremost I wanted the job done right and if it took a few extra days, I told him don’t rush it and that would be fine with me. He laughed and agreed when I jokingly said «you know how we Subie guys are!»
Joaquin’s estimate was for all 100% original Subaru parts and not reproductions, something that is very important to me. If you’re looking for a body shop for estimates, be sure to ask what parts they are going to be using and what parts are specified in the written estimate. There is a big difference, quality-​wise, so make sure that you’re getting exactly what you’re paying for.
Sure enough, three days later Michael J’s called me and I picked up my car that afternoon. I was prepared for the worst since this was the first time that my car, a vehicle that I lusted after for many years before I actually bought mine, was in an accident. My car was 100% brand new again! Subaru paint is not the greatest to begin with and I think that what Michael J’s put on my new bumper cover is actually better than the stock paint. As an added bonus, they washed my car, which was very much appreciated since we can’t wash our vehicles in the Bay Area until the draught is over.
It looked like Michael J’s treated my STI very well. I kept track of the mileage on my odometer before I dropped it off and only one mile was added to it in three days. (Don’t laugh because fellow WRX and STI owners have told all sorts of scary stories of what happened to their cars when they had work done to them behind their backs.) I’m more than happy with Michael J’s work, customer service, and price. Everyone that I talked to, including Joaquin, was friendly and nice to talk to. They even gave me a couple of free pens and letter openers when I picked up my car.

Great auto body shop! Taken two of my cars here the past 6 months and they have done great work. Received phone calls every few days with status of repairs and worked with my insurance company to make sure all damage was uncovered and repaired. They know their stuff and are very professional.

Whoops, my new car (1 month old 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited) had a concrete kiss with a wall on a freeway exit ramp. Totally wrecked drivers side suspension and screwed up the paint something wicked. Insurance (Progressive) wanted to take it elsewhere, the dealership (Capital Hyundai) suggested Michael J’s instead, so there it went.
Took about a month and a half to fix and boy was I getting a bit hot over that. Just got the vehicle back this week and I’m rather impressed, to the point where everything is forgiven over the time it took. The car looks as great as it did when I drove it off the lot. I think it might handle a bit better too, but that may just be because I’ve missed it badly.
I only had one real problem; the front left turn signal didn’t blink. Called em up and they had me drop by. Fix took all of 2 minutes, about as much time as it took me to post that I was there getting it fixed on Facebook.
All in all, if I had to get body work again, I’d totally go back here again.
