Michael’s Mufflers

I am always scared to go to a auto repair shop since I know nothing about cars. Referred by a friend, I had a great experience here, and so will you!
Gary took great care of my car and me. He was professional, reliable, and trustworthy. He explained everything to me, got me an estimate over the phone quickly, ordered my parts in a timely fashion. The location was clean and everyone was friendly. Phone got updated on my car, no change in my estimate, and my car was done that night, ready for pick up next day. He did all this on a busy Friday for me!
The work on my car was done professionally and cheaper than a dealership. These guys really know their stuff. AWESOME.

Michaels was recommended to us to have the catalytic converter replaced on my car. The initial job was done quick, courteous and fairly.
Then it failed smog because the wrong cat was installed.
Then a month of mostly unreturned calls or promises to call back because the right part would «be here tomorrow».
Super lame. Don’t blow me off or blow smoke up my ass.

Terrible people skills. This guy dosnt want to be there let alone work on your exhaust. Go to classic mufflers on Winfield if you want awesome customer service and great work.

Michael’s replaced the catalytic converters on my van 6 months ago. Another shop replaced the oil pan gasket and rear seal, after which there was a loud rattle from the passenger side wheel well. They told me the converter had failed. I called Michael’s and they said «no problem, just bring it in». I did and they immediately put it on the lift, discovered the converter was fine and also found that the exhaust pipe (which the other shop removed and reinstalled) was rubbing the frame. The fixed it and I was on the road in under 30 minutes. They are a great group to work with and know their stuff. Thanks, Michael’s.

Terrible place, owner is a jerk, did some work on a car I had a while back and work is questionable and overpriced.

This is an update to my previous review.
Have a major project. They can handle that too. Pulled my motor on my 1991 Mustang, Installed new motor, brakes, lowered, full exhaust, and more. All done in house at Michaels. Great job guys!

They installed a dual exhaust on my truck in a little more than 1 hour, while I waited and without an appointment. I couldn’t be happier.

had a custom exhaust put on my wife’s 50 dodge truck. they worked with me making sure they understood what my wife wanted. great job, very happy with the service and product. these guys will keep me comming back.

I have ben going to Michael’s for years. They have installed mufflers or catalytic convertors of all of my cars. Mike always has the best price and has always saved me money. The quality is always superb. Good service, great people, and they have earned a life long customer. Great job Michael’s

All I have to say is this is the cheapest place I found to have my mufflers eliminated and a straight pipe installed. I paid 75 for two muffler deletes. ! While other competition wanted to charge me 140 – 160. The most I would have paid is 100 for a job like this. Anymore and I could have just bought a full cat back system. So great job! And great price! And they are very quick at getting the job done. I went on my lunch break and it was done in an hour. Will be coming here and referring friends to get any exhaust work done here.

About a year ago, I had pipes put on my truck. Unfortunately, I came to Michaels Mufflers at the last minute on a Saturday (before they were closing for the day). After a few days, I noticed that the pipes were extremely uneven.
Well, after 6 months I decided to finally go in, again, and redo the pipes. Different size, etc. The second time around, the work was much better!
It’s unfortunate how it took 2 visits to get things correct. My s/​o wasn’t too bothered with this whole issue but I wasn’t happy because I had to pay more for the labor.

Had a new Flowmaster 3-​chamber installed a while back. There service and install is sub-​standard.
First they took longer than promised. Second, the installed the wrong tips, and then said they were out of the one I wanted. Third, I went back a few days later to get the new tips and they said they were out of gas… are you kidding me? Fourth, the tips are un-​aligned. Last, about a week later I start hearing a squeaking from under the car. It turns out the welded hooks have some play, so they sqeak, terrible!
Yeah, they had a low price, but it was not wroth it at all. I would never go back to their shop, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Look around, do your homework.

I have gone to michaels a few times for a few of my cars. At first it seemed like I was getting great deals but then now that I look back he over charges. I wanted a straight 2.5 inch pipe on my Audi S4 and he charges me 125… FOR PIPE that he cuts and welds. I was his sucker and I paid double. Also, I ordered Y pipe tips from him and I continue to call to ask if they are in (he said 1 day) and he says «I’ll call you back» and he never calls. I’m done with his shop. Too bad his management ruined it, he has a few guys in there that are really nice and do a great job.
Michael himself is very stuck up and in my opinion takes advantage of people who dont know much. Typical mechanic, don’t trust him. Do your research. Learn from my mistake.

this place fixed my exhaust manifold on a 1986 fiero v6. they did in in two hours great work. sounds like new. good work!!! 5 stars

About a year ago. I had them do work on my Chevy Astro, because I was so low the beggining of midmipe to the end of my exhaust fell off on the freeway. I wanted them to do a Bozosoku Exhaust, which means a very long exhaust pipe that reaches outside the bumper and straight up. They wouldn’t let me do it. The reason why they get 4 stars is because my van is very low to the ground and the straight pipe hasn’t bent. They don’t get 5 because they wouldn’t do what I asked haha. Pricing I think is reasonable, but overall it was good.

Took my 2000 Xterra to get smogged and it failed. Smog place said I had the wrong cat converter. A year ago Michaels put in a pre 1995 (and a muffler for $ 277). Went back to Michaels they told me they had to order one– 1 – 2 days. A week later it arrives– I go in and they tell me I need a $ 450 converter above the one they had to replace and no way would it pass smog. They lied– it passed. I got no apologies or regrets that I drove on the wrong converter from them for a year and it really sounds like they are out for all your money.

Came here to get new exhaust tips welded on. I specifically asked for 2.5″ tips, picked them out of a catalog and he ordered them. Well I get a call that they are in, so I go check them out. Looks like he accidentally ordered 2″ tips. I had already paid for the tips and they wouldn’t exchange them for a larger size. In addition, they said 2.5″ tips would rub.
In the end I went to another shop, they ordered the right tips, right size, and installed them for cheaper, and have not had any rubbing issues.

got my performance exhaust done today, great experience! to start off, i’m very particular with my exhausts, they have to be perfect! a few friends referred me here so i went, all i can say is that it was fast and great service, they use crush bending here instead of mandrel, but the bends are very clean and they dont hump out like most crush bending places. their welds are very clean, no bulges or extra wire hanging anywhere, nice bead all the way through, doesn’t get much better than that! only reason i gave them 4 is because its a fully custom exhaust and one of my mufflers came out crooked :(but fast, friendly, and good work. i’d recommend them to any car enthusiast!
