My daughter Cora (9 months old) and I have been attending Samanthas class for a couple months now. Cora lights up in these classes. We sing, we play, we learn…
Every class has an instrument of the day. They get to play and listen and feel all the different tones and textures of music. We have daily songs which are all written out — so if you dont know the words you can still sing along. Samantha tells us the usefulness of all the rhythm and rhyme so that we understand the importance for the little ones.
As a working mom this class is a life saver — we get our special time together and learn things too. We love her music classes.

I heard about Musical Minds through a mommies group I am part of. I decided to take my 14 months girl for the free trial class and have not missed a class since. The classes are broken down into different segments involving a HUGE variety of good quality musical instruments. My daughter loves each part of the class from scarf dancing/​peekaboo to listening to her favorite stories through songs and visuals. The teacher Samantha is very knowledgable about the benefits of music at a young age and explains the benefits of each activity throughout the class. She also told us not to be surprised if one day we go home and all of a sudden our little one starts doing a move to one of the songs. Well let me say how caught off guard I was when one day I was changing my daughter’s diaper singing her one of the songs from class and she started doing the movements to the song! I was so amazed and impressed!
The classes have a good balance of repetition of songs/​activities as well as enough variety added to each class. The teacher Samantha is also very energetic and knows how to get the children engaged. My daughter stares at her the entire class so entertained and happy by all the songs and movements that she is doing. Another highlight of the class is the free exploration of all the great instruments. Samantha brings out tons of instruments, and each week she introduces a new instrument, which is always something very unique. The little ones love exploring all the different instruments! There is also great music playing in the background during this time. Samantha is very aware of different music from cultures around the world, and she plays all sorts of different music throughout the class. The music she selects shows her strong background in music and you could tell each song is hand selected, not your average kids CD you could buy from the store.
Another bonus is this class is not that expensive compared to many of the other music classes I have looked into, which is always nice. I highly recommend Musical Minds if you are looking for a great music class for your little one.

Samantha is a wonderful piano teacher. She is very patient and kind to all students. My son is progressing and really loves piano. Thanks Sam!

Anyways, I’ve been going to Samantha for I think about 18 months. After my horrible experience with my old piano teacher from way back, I’ve decided to come to her based on the internet. Needless to say that I made the right choice.
Samantha’s lessons are straightforward. Warm up, play your songs, go over it, get new songs and your done. However, what I like about her lessons is that you can actually customized lessons. So say like you want to learn like oh I don’t know «Chopin’s Etudes.» Basically, she would relate the song you want to work on from your lessons books and makes you attempt to play the songs. At the end of each lessons, you feel like you are a better pianist than before, even if it is a little bit.
What I like about her though is that she is honest and flexible. Now I say flexible because I’ve made about 4 lesson changes in this month already and she didn’t mind at all. She’s easy to get in touch with (See below though) and very honest, something that is fairly difficult to find in music teachers nowadays, at least in my own personal experience.
I kinda find it hard to keep in contact with her by email. I mean, I understand if it takes about 2 days but I wasn’t happy with the morning before. Maybe it’s just me and the prior notice I gave her but…
The rates are a little bit steep, at least from what I see. However, you do get what you pay for, quality lessons. Although there maybe quality teachers that may have lower rates, some of those teachers are not too flexible with schedule, ESPECIALLY if they owe you a make-​up lesson. I think that counters the rates. Like I said, you get what you pay for.
In short, Samantha is a dedicated, hard-​working, flexible, honest piano teacher. Going to piano lessons is no longer a chore for me and occasionally, I look forward into going to lessons. With that being said, I highly recommend going to Samantha’s lesson. =)
