NorCal Property Management

NorCal is managing a condo rental for us. They have done a fantastic job. Very proactive. They have taken care of several issues with the building/​condo management on our behalf. Maintain a good relationship with the tenants. They are very timely with payments and their online system is very helpful. Highly recommend as a property manager.

I’ve been working with David for several years now. He’s the property manager for my condo in the San Jose area. I met with a few different property managers before I went with David and he shined amongst the rest. When we met he was very practical, approachable, and just made feel very comfortable vs. the others that I met with. Fast forward about 3 to 4 years now and I’m still very pleased with everything that he’s done for me. He remains just the same as the day I first met him and even better, he’s responsive, thoughtful, etc., etc. Also, David’s team provides the whole package, renting, preparing your place for rental, maintenance, everything… I couldn’t ask for more. BTW, he works with his mother and she’s fantastic as well. I really have to give him props for that! Keep up the great work David and team!

Just finished the move into a new rental that we leased from NorCal, and Marcus was so helpful throughout the process. We had a lot of questions, and he handled them patiently and thoroughly. As some of my roommates are new to renting, this was a really nice transition for us and we are so happy with our home. The care and attention to detail is evident. Several lights were replaced, and paint was touched up even more from when we had viewed the property a week prior to our move-​in. Rebecca was also very helpful and took time to phone all of us to ensure we were all happy and had no questions after our move. I highly recommend this management company and thoroughly enjoy working with them!

I have been leasing through them, and I couldn’t be more grateful to their customer service commitments. I have dealt mainly with Marques and he has been a true proffessional and has gone the extra mile to insure excellent results. I highly recommend a property owner to go through them, or a family looking to lease to check them out first.

David and his family were great to work with, super accommodating and helpful. If I move back to the Bay, I’ll be looking to rent from them first!

I leased a condo in Santa Clara for the past 2 years through NorCal. I worked with doug and david throughout the entire time. The online payment portal works perfectly and I appreciated that it was simple to pay digitally. They also take maintenance requests through the portal and respond to issues in a timely manner.
Doug did a good job fixing up things around the house and was usually amicable about it.
My only negative would be the contractors they hired typically were awful at speaking the english language and hard to communicate with but I will let it slide for this review :)
Overall I would recommend. Our property stayed in good shape, it was easy to pay rent, and they stayed out of our way for 2 years. Thanks guys.

Fast, responsible and friendly. If you want any of these factors then do business with NorCal Property Management. These guys are stellar!

I’ve been renting for a little over 2 years. In the first year there were couple of times when I had minor issues with the property management but not serious enough to make me want to move.
Second year I’ve had no problems. They really been very polite, responded fast to any maintenance requests, often on the same day (within couple of hours) and were mindful of my schedule.
For the year one I would have given the NorCal property 3.5−4 stars but since than they really stepped up and I have only positive things to say for this last year, hence I am giving the Norcal Property management 5 stars overall.

Financially responsible. Using this property manager provides you peace of mind. I recommend this property manager.

I signed management contract with David on May 2013 based on Unilocal reviews. I was not satisfied with his service on the first year, but I am had no time to talk to some other management company then David continued to work on the 2^nd year. Highly dissatisfied with his service on the 2^nd year. After the 2^nd year contract was expired, I cancled contract with David, and some horrible things happened.
Because I didn’t decide to sell this property or rent it out, there were 5 month before my property was for rent again. I forgot to pay this property’s HOA fee which used to be paid by David. HOA sent letters to David in the last 5 months, but David kept slience to me and HOA. Then HOA freezed my account and sent my information to collections company. The collections kept on sending mails to David’s address, and he continued to keep slience! Until recently I decided to rent this property out, and had a new property manager. The new property manager tried to pay my HOA fee, and was told this account had been frozen.
This morning I called collections company and paid the 5 months HOA fee, plus $ 750 collection fee to collections company!
There was another horrible experience (and the rest is not worth my time).
Recently my property was rent out, the new property manager found there was no mail box key in the package which David transferred to her. She called David, and david said he didn’t collect any mail box key form previous renters. Finally I found one at home, and we made copies to the renters. But I don’t know the mailbox number, because David worked on this property since I bought it 2 years ago. The new property manager called David about mailbox number, and David said he didn’t know. Then the renters called David, and he asked them to call post office!
I had never worked with a irresponsible person like David before.

I’ve been living in a Norcal Property and renting for 5 months now and they’ve been great. They are always very responsive to any email inquiries or lease adjustments. The house is in great shape and any maintenance request is done promptly. They encourage trying to talk you through it first so that they are a last resort, which I actually like because I learn something.
They follow up regularly with these requests to make sure everything is still okay. I can’t speak as someone who actually owns the property, but frankly I haven’t had a bad experience yet. They are great for renters.

As a first time rental income property owner I was a little nervous to purchase and rent my fist income property. I decided to purchase in west San Jose. I went in Unilocal and found NorCal. They were the best rated company so I decided to give them a shot. They have been managing my property for 6 years now. When maintenance requests come in from the tenant, their request are responded to within 24 business hours unless it’s an emergency in such case my property manager is on call ²⁴⁄₇. I know this because I spoke with the tenants myself.
NorCal works directly with an in-​house maintenance company called diamond glaze and construction svcs. This company owned and operated by norcals mother and father but is still a separate company. David told me that if I don’t want to work with diamond glaze then we can use a different company but after using diamond glaze for a while now I am very happy with their prices and responsiveness.
All items show up in my monthly operating statement which I receive each month via email by the 12^th each month. I am also paid electronically by the 12^th each month.
I have enjoyed working with the NorCal team and will continue to work with them and hope to continue to grow my portfolio with them.
Highly recommend NorCal to other rental income property owners in the South Bay!

We have been tenants at a SJ property managed by norcal for three years and they have been great. Over the years Doug and the team have been quick to respond to all maintenance services requests. This would include the repair of the garbage disposal, water heater, dryer, as well as plumbing issues. All the repairs were handled effectively and quickly. We appreciate all work norcal has done to keep the property a great place to live. We hope to continue our great relationship with them and would definitely recommend norcal property management.

David and team have been managing our properties for over a year and they have all been very professional and responsive. It’s comforting for me to know that when we are traveling, David is there to manage any issues that come up. David is always on top of any repairs and takes care of them efficiently while keeping me in the loop. David is easy to work with and always available when I need to talk to him about the units. Thank you David and NorCal for taking great care of us and our units.

What a great experience is has been working with NorCal Property Management. The team has been nothing but professional, knowledgeable, timely and helpful. They have been very attentive to the small fixes in an older condo, much more than I would have been able to door to support the tenant. They also walked me through the process during a difficult time and alleviated what could have been an even more stressful time. I highly recommend David and the team.

2 things I will actually bother to refute (the rest is not worth my time):
*Firstly, after serving the contract termination notice with David (NorCal), I ASKED for a smooth and professional transition. I really feared we would be at the bottom of his priorities list now that we had ended contract; it turned out to be a legitimate fear as the month progressed we had to ask new management to step in and take over because things were not moving forward as needed. True, in the beginning of the transition, I did thank David for the professionalism he showed in actually following through with 2 items: he sent the rent notice we requested and he sent us the check for the $ 100 mismanagement discount he offered for the «sink leak fiasco» in June. (Then things went downhill real fast from there.) Yes, even David himself admitted that there was an error in judgement regarding the sink issue. Why? Because as it turned out, there was only a minor faucet leak on top of the sink and a little visible drip underneath with no warping of the cabinet at all; yet, the tenant repeatedly reports water damage bubbles to the floor! A competent plumber and a conscientious property manager would have LOOKED FOR A LEAK ELSEWHERE in the kitchen and not let it get to over 20K IN WATER DAMAGE!!! Oh, sure, they jumped around real fast trying to get that contained once they found out, but the floor was already bubbling up and warped with ripples/​bumps before they figured it out. David himself DID NOT inspect the water issues but sent his father and other manager, Marc, to come to the house to assess the situation. I placed all my trust in him because we live out of state; I hired him to do a job for me NOT PASS it onto others that I did not interview or hire. He abused my trust and I found out too late. Had he gone there himself the first few times the tenants reported water issues, we’d still be in business even if he found the fridge leak late in the game. The issue here is he was not there at all! Nopes, not even after major water issues was discovered!!!(Oh, but he’s here on Unilocal real quick defending his online image) In real life, I had to text him and demanded he go to my house himself, assess things there himself, and send me photos! Unilocalers, you be the judge for yourself of what makes sense and what doesn’t here.
*Secondly, the multiple incorrect rent notices happened AFTER the 5 incorrect service invoice mistakes. BOTH were CRITICAL to us during this stressful ordeal. We would have been SO SCREWED if insurance denied our claims based on their incorrect paper work! The incorrect rent notice is still on record in my texts; the incorrect invoice exchanges are still in my emails which was cc’ed to the insurance person. Yes, I have proof because I’m not in the business of twisting the truth. If you’ve noticed, I have plainly provided info and no emotional shenanigans in this review. David is real responsive and available to talk if you’re still one of his clients, but not if you’re on the way out the door. For example, I asked him to call for an urgent matter (was planning on disclosing to him that we wanted to end contract) and he texted me asking, «what is it? I have back to back closing until 7:30pm». So we parted ways through text – REAL PROFESSIONAL!!! I had the courtesy to make the time/​effort to talk in person and he didn’t. You figure out who the real deal is in this situation Unilocalers. And somebody is acting all surprised by my review… I’m NOT SHOCKED. And to top it off, he sent me a «wonderful» text at 4am asking me to take down my «lovely review». (Listen David, if you want to get somebody to LISTEN to you and DO something for you… sarcasm, rude undertones and a condescending attitude is not the way to go. That seems like common sense to me.)
He seems to have a different (delusional) perspective on how he should do business with people and what it means to be a professional; all of which is only advantageous to him and his family. David’s number one catch phrase to you will be (and it has been said over and over again to all the other clients he has failed): «At the end of the day, we did the best we could». Well, in our case, his «best» was not good enough-​not by a long shot.

NorCal has been managing my Los gatos home for approximately 3 years now and I’ve been working with David and Marcus. In the last 3 years I have had a great experience! Highly recommend working with them. Payment always arrives on time and clean accounting each month. They are also very professional so you don’t need to worry about anything! If you are looking for property management in the area then I would definitely go with NorCal.

I am glad my interaction with NorCal was a brief one, I called to schedule a tour for one of the houses the advertised and I was informed they are holding an open house the following day from 5:30 — 6:30pm
I called David at 6:10pm as I am leaving work asking if it is alright if I come five minutes after the end time they advertised. He say yeah sure, I will be waiting for you. traffic wasn’t bad and I mad it 3 minutes after 6:30pm and he is gone! Called him twice and after a beep it sends me to voice mail! if he couldn’t do it he could have simply said I am sorry man let’s schedule another time instead of breaking his word

I’ve been using NorCal Property Management to manage a rental property for a couple years now and they’ve been fantastic. They’ve been very responsive to me and the tenants, while being very professional and efficient.
They’ve handled everything from the time I moved out of the house. The only thing I need to do is sign off on maintenance/​repairs (it’s an old house). I love not having to worry or think about the rental and know it’s in good hands.

I was having issues with the tenant and hired David and Marcus as the property managers. They have been very helpful from the beginning. Marcus replied promptly with all the emails, texts, and phone calls. Can’t thanks them enough for their helps.
Also, I am one of their vendors for garage door repair and I can tell you that they really care of the renters. i’d recommend them to anyone who looks for a property manager.
