Honestly, it was very disappointing! I stopped by because it was convenient and on the way to class. But I regret going here. The rice is too sour and over power the flavor of the fish. The fish taste bad and not fresh at all. The roll was OVERPRICE and they can’t even get a proper container for my sushi. I don’t even know why people rate this place so high. I’d rather go a distance and buy my sushi from Tengu Sushi than buy it from here the next time. What is worse is that my ginger taste like old wet rag. It was absolutely DISGUSTING! No wonder the place is so empty! I’m serious! Don’t go here! Go to Tengu Sushi for a better price and quality.

Was craving for a Deep fried CA Roll and looking on Unilocal this place looked like good prices. Overall the food was okay not as flaky as I thought it would taste like. Probably because I ordered to go.

Great place for some quick and cheap sushi! They have a large selection of rolls and you can’t really go wrong with it. The only thing that bothers me is that their rice is a little too mushy, no like. But who cares, it’s cheap.

Food was very good never had a problems with their sushi tasting fishy or being old. Their service is good. The lady in charge of the restaurant is nice and always joking around. Been coming here since the start of my freshmen year and I have been coming here ever since. So overall it was very good

There are so many flies inside. Customer service is extremely bad. Rice in sushi is soggy. Nothing is special here.

This place is conveniently located across from SJSU campus. I been here a few times and usually order 1 or 2 rolls to-go. I have never ate my food here, but the place is a bit small and kind of old, but the lady working here is nice and the service is fast. Each time I came here it wasn’t too busy. My favorite roll here is the lion king roll and it is quite tasty :) The price is reasonable too, so if you’re a SJSU student and craving sushi come check out this place :)

Sushi is all about the rice. Osheyo cooks their rice perfectly. The size of the rolls are above average and the prices are decent. My wife and I ordered fours rolls and were stuffed by the end of dinner The restaurant is small so don’t blink when you’re driving on San Fernando. The waitress/owner was helpful in helping us decide what we wanted. We will most definitely come back for more!

I’ve always wanted to try this place because it’s right across from SJSU. It’s a small mom and pop shop and it’s absolutely wonderful! You can just seat yourself anywhere, grab a menu, and order and pay up front. Just a heads up that they charge a little extra if you’re using card instead of cash. I got the Rainbow roll and the Godzilla roll. It took some time before I got my food since they do make your food right when you order. The food was pretty decent with great presentation. The fish wasn’t the freshest I’ve had, but it was decent in my opinion. I noticed a lot of rolls they offer only have imitation crab meat inside the roll, which is a little disappointing. But other than that, the food is good. A lot of people have said that the food and their service sucks, but I do think otherwise(or maybe they’re changed since then). My food was perfectly okay, but I guess I can’t say the same for my friend since he found a little roach in his food(uh oh). The service was good though. The lady who probably owns the place with her husband was so nice. Both of them were really nice. My friend and I got to chat with the lady about random stuff and she’s so sweet. I think that made my experience a little better. Overall, I may come back. The food is really just decent and the price is average.

I used to always come to this place as an sjsu student, despite it being not well upkept. It was dirty, sometimes the sushi was soggy, and there were flies buzzing around, but naively I choose to ignore these problems, because it was the closest sushi to campus, and heck, supporting local business, right? That all changed one day, I work as a doordash driver and I happen to be near it during lunchtime, so I decide to pick up a dragon crunch roll and tempura for the road from here. I eat most of the food. About and hr later I start to feel queasy. The next hour it just got worse and worse, so bad I had to end my shift early. Food poisoning. The worst I ever had. Thankfully it only lasted the rest of the entire day. I was fine the next morning. Since then it’s been hard to eat sushi without being repulsed a little, and I LOVE sushi. So it sucks. I used to be a loyal student customer here, not anymore. I’ll never go here again. In fact, I hope a health inspector actually comes through there and see how dirty it is. I used to be naïve about it, and I paid for it.

Bleh. this place is just a no for me. Service was great and friendly there, but the sushi there is just disgusting. In the two rolls that I ordered(the lion king and Anna), the rice was just way too mushy and the only thing I really tasted was the vinegar in the rice. I also decided to get my food to go because the environment of the restaurant did not seem like a suitable place to eat. The seats and tables seemed dirty and sticky, and flies were roaming about the place… Wish I saved the money to eat somewhere else.

I just ate here and the food was disgusting. The salmon was not recognizable and tasted extremely fishy/old/chewy/pungent(which are all the signs of old salmon) the miso soup had old tofu bits in it and the broth literally tasted like it’s been sitting there for weeks and they just add water and soy sauce and keep it luke warm at best. The sashimi also did not taste like it was fresh either. The only thing that tasted decent was the rice and salad. I hope I don’t get food poisoning. I should have just went to peanuts :(… I couldn’t finish my food it was that repulsive which is surprising because the first I ate here the bento box was actually pretty tasty and fresh.

I have no idea how people are rating this 5 star. This has to be the NASTIEST sushi place ever! I ordered a bento box beef and salmon togo. First off my bento box comes with miso soup, but she didn’t even give me that!!! Secondly the salmon isn’t even salmon, I swear it must have been imitation salmon cause that shit was rubbery as fuck and on top of that, isn’t salmon suppose to be pink, this«salmon» was white. NEVERAGAIN!!! Do not come to this place, we might be eating rats for all we know… The health department needs to do a surprise inspection too! I understand it’s a «hole in the wall» place, but try and clean up a bit, mop the floor, clean a table or two… Sheesh. Like I said GOEATELSEWHERE! These people who are rating anything more than 1 star must be the friends and family of the owner because no way in hell does this place deserve anything higher than 1 star.

Great little mom and pop shop. Tiny lil hole in the wall that I’m very excited to have found. PARKING metered street parking SERVICE sweet lady took my order very sufficiently and then quickly got to work on my order FOODREALLY good and fairly priced. I had an order of California rolls and a chicken teriyaki entrée. I think the man made my rolls fresh. .. The woman put my plates together quickly and they were visually appealing, smelt great and tasted fabulous. I got my food to go and I’ll definitely be back.

Osheyo is undoubtedly one of my favorite go-to’s. It is conveniently near my school and work. I love that there is the option to place an order over the phone and it will be ready by the time you walk over(about a 5 to 10 minute walk from San Jose State). I can’t remember the main lady’s name but she is very sweet and attentive. The prices have gone up slightly but they are still reasonable. I highly recommend trying the Lion King sushi roll — it’s just straight up delicious in flavor and freshly made in front of you… and the miso soup is okay. They also take credit or debit in case you forget to bring cash, and it’s more of a hole in the wall joint so don’t expect it to be trendy like most restaurants in downtown San Jose now-a-days. It’s certainly a great place for students to grab a quick bite :-) and then walk back to class :-/

The service was good but the food was not :( I like going to «hole in the wall» joints and taking risks, even when reviews aren’t great to begin with… But yeah, I have to agree with the masses on this one. The sushi rice was sort of soggy, there was a weird aftertaste from the unagi, and the bibimbap was really lacking meat, vegetables, and taste. Like I’ve said in my reviews in the past, I’m no sushi snob and can get down with the cheap imitation crab and all that, but I hate to admit that I was hesitant after the first bite here. Maybe it was one of those times that the food was just«off» — but sadly I doubt I’ll come back to find out.

I’m not really sure how this place has three stars. Maybe averaging out from the past ratings of previous ownership? I decided to read the reviews after I went. My friend and I are in town from Santa Barbara visiting a friend for a week-ish. I’ve been craving sushi for awhile at this point and wanted to finally get some. I searched sushi on my maps on my phone and this place popped up. It was close, we didn’t want to go far because we were car-less and its been rainy and cold all day. We walked in, the lady looked at us. We found some menus by the door and started looking, we’ve never been here before so we weren’t sure if we should sit down or go up to the lady and order. She was just standing there not giving us any sort of attention. So I asked if we had to order first or if she would come take our order. She mumbled something I didn’t quite understand so we just sat down. I noticed a little weird bug crawling on the table and told my friend we had made a new friend. It crawled under the table. Anther bug appeared and I trapped it underneath the salt shaker. After looking at the menu for about five minutes. We sat waiting for her to come. After she finally decided to look at us, she asked«you ready?» And came and took our order. I asked about what veggies were in the vegetarian dragon roll, she mentioned something I had never heard of so I asked what it was. I had a hard time understanding her and she gave up answering me. So I just ordered two avocado, cucumber and cream cheese rolls and a miso soup. My friend asked the lady a few questions and she was once again not helpful and kind of rude. So he ordered the teriyaki beef. Our miso soups came out. My friend are a few spoonfuls and then scooped another and found the same kind of bug that was on the table… In his soup. Disgusting. So we both stopped eating our soup. We contemplated asking for a new one but realized it was pointless because the soup is all in the same pot… So the fly has been in the soup for awhile. Then my rolls came out and his teriyaki beef soon after. My rolls were okay. Cheap so the quality reflected that. Then another bug crawled across the table and i smushed it. Cruel, I know. This place is disgusting and these people know nothing about customer service. They should close it and put something else there. Maybe some place that knows what clean is and hires workers with at least some good people skills?

This is a cute little place that is almost completely hidden, next to Peanuts café by SJSU. I ordered the California crunch rolls, and they were pretty good. The wait wasn’t too long, either. Not a bad experience. However, the place did look a bit dirty. There were a few flies chilling in the small space. Also, the cashier was irritated that I used a credit card. Sorry that I’m a college student and that I don’t feel safe carrying around cash all the time! If you don’t want people to use credit cards, don’t give them the option…

It’s a good sushi place when you’re broke but still want sushi. Located near SJSU, Osheyo is a surprising small restaurant which fits at most 18 people. I think there are 2 – 3 people working there, but the time you have to wait for your food to be delivered to your table is not too long. Some of the rolls are«surprisingly, strangely good»(I’m quoting my girl friend — there’s a little space in between to avoid confusion). Some of them are just«meh». The ramen is below average, with a relatively small amount of actual noodle. I had it in a late August day, so no comment on that. Probably I will try again during a winter day to have a better view on that. One thing I don’t really like is that many of them are deep-fried and creamcheese-added. Those sorts of things make you full really fast and decrease you appetite. The price varies, with some rolls being pretty cheap for 8 pieces, while others being rather expensive for 4 – 6 pieces. Before, they used to allow you to order and eat, then pay. But now you have to order and pay first. Probably because of some wacky customers who tried to get food without paying the money… Overall, as I said at the beginning, a decent sushi place when you’re out of money.

I think this place is awesome. From their awkwardly placed ordering register table to its hole in the wall feel I can wholeheartedly say that this place is a great lunch option for those who don’t want a fussy or time-consuming sushi meal. Rolls are affordable and the selection is decent. There’s barely any seating indoors so I often see a lot of to-go orders. This is not for those seeking a gourmet romantic sushi date or for those who prefer chirashi bowls over saucy crunchy rolls. Yes everything about this place is cheap. But that’s what makes it a great quick lunch option!
