Specialties

Our CIty Forest Community Nursery and Training Center is home to hundreds of homeless trees. The Nursery is a community service provided by Our City Forest to connect the resources of available trees to worthy planting projects ready to adopt trees.

Planting workshops are held free of charge and provide information and demonstration of how to plant and care for your young tree.

History

Established in 2011.

On November 19th of the year 2011, Our City Forest launched a grand opening of our new community nursery. AmeriCorps members and Volunteers spent countless hours, starting in March of 2011, to create an operating community nursery. Since then, a Green House, shade structure, and shed have been built for the Nursery’s operational needs. Our City Forest Nursery houses Trees in need of homes and is expanding as educational center.

A tree nursery in San Jose that at any time has upwards to 1000 trees and over 100 different species is a rare gem. Add to that it is a non-​profit organization that runs the facility with the help of AmeriCorps members and volunteers and you have a magical place. If you are looking to plant a tree in your yard or parkstrip, or want to add some CA native and or drought tolerant greenery to your yard, this is the place to go. The prices are MORE than reasonable. They also have fruit trees (stone fruit only).
If that didn’t convince you there is also a certified arborist on site at all times and educated AmeriCorps members to help answer your questions.
