I highly recommend Paul. This was my first time ever getting acupuncture so I had no idea what to expect. I pulled out my back and needed some relief. When I walked into Paul’s office I could hardly walk. After just 15 minutes my posture had improved by at least 20% and my movement was returning. By the end of the session I was probably 40% better in terms of pain and range of motion. I returned the next day and received another treatment. By the end of this treatment I had improved by at least 70%.

I have always been skeptical towards eastern medicine. But when all else failed, I thought I would give it a try. I met with Dr. Wang for a consultation. His calm and patient demeanor softened my skepticism.
I acquired quite a few injuries from running. And being the stubborn person that I am, I refused to allow my injuries deter me from running. Hence, I was constantly in pain. But not anymore. After just a few sessions with Dr. Wang, I am now pain free and have actually even enhanced my running speed and agility. I was also working with Dr. Wang for overall wellness and health. Though it’s harder to see immediate results in my liver function, I certainly feel better on a day to day basis.
Dr. Wang is a very kind and patient man. I felt at ease with him almost immediately. He has always worked with me to fit my schedule and even agreed to stay late on a few days so that I can get a session in.
Not to mention, the office is clean, has a simple and serene décor, and is conveniently located right off the Winchester exit off 280.

Located at the corner of Moorpark and Winchester, Acupuncture Avenue hosts a couple to a few acunpuncturists and massage therapists. There is ample of parking in the lot so there shouldn’t be a problem there.
The office is nice and clean. The waiting area is next to the front desk. Although located next to the busy street, you wouldn’t feel that once you walk through the door. It’s quiet and relaxing inside. There are usually very nice and soothing music in the background. The office has several rooms due to the number of available practioners there.
I started the acupuncture treatments with Dr. Wang a few years back for digestion problems. There was a small assessment form that I filled out for the first visit just like when you visit a doctor office or a dental office. He was very attentive and listening to my concern. He also took time to explain to me what might be problem and helped me identify it as well. This made me feel a lot more comfortable because I had never been to a traditional Chinese medicine doctor before. After a few treatments and the recommended change in diet, the problem was relieved. I did stop coming for a while until my back started to hurt. Once this happened, I started receiving tuina treatment instead of acupuncture. After several treatments, I can feel that the pain was relieved tremendously. It was not an easy process. But he was very encouraging and patience during the recovery process. So it was very helpful.
I recently took my sister there and she really liked his approach as well. If you have or have not had acupuncture/​tuina before, I would recommend you go and see Dr. Wang because it would be well worth it.
Dr. Wang is very nice and understanding so don’t be intimidated to ask questions. You should ask if you don’t know. It is for your benefit. :) I would suggest you tell him about your problems and what you experience. Be open to his ideas and treatments. After all, he is there to help you just as much as he helped me. :) Good luck and hope you feel better :)
I would also recommend you call or email him to make an appointment. He is usually fairly flexible and accommodating which is a great plus! :)

I visited Dr. Paul Wang in January. First of all, not only is he a licensed Chinese medicine doctor, but he also manages a martial arts studio in Berkeley. I live in SF, so going down to San Jose is a little out of the way. Fortunately, I was able to schedule a meeting with Dr. Wang in Berkeley.
I had been suffering from spasms in my lower left back. Rather than medicate with pain killers, I wanted a longer-​term more sustainable solution. I learned about Dr. Wang through a good friend and decided to schedule an appointment.
When I arrived, Dr. Wang was very pleasant and answered all of my questions. Then, I underwent acupuncture treatment. It lasted for about an hour and a half. I immediately felt relief. However, there was still some tension remaining. This leads to the reason why I think Dr. Wang is definitely worth recommending. Instead of just charging me for the treatment and telling me to come back later to «fix» the remaining tension, he explained his philosophy to me.
Although he can treat the pain, he believed that it was up to the individual to be aware of his own habits so that he can prevent pain from developing. Dr. Wang stressed the 3 S’s: Strength, Stretch, and Softening. I then realized that I needed to do more to stay healthy.
Since his visit, I’ve tried to modify my excercise habits to include not only my normal activities, but also better stretching. I definitely suffer less from pain now. I just appreciate how Dr. Wang encouraged me to do more myself to stay healthy rather than just keep charging for treatments.
