Paychex

These people SUCK! No matter what we ask them, they do the opposite. I would NEVER use this company again. Attitude — you bet!!! Horrible customer service in that they blow you off all the time and ultimately do what they want to do, no deviations and even then screw it up. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE AT AL!

Worst customer service throughout the whole corporation. Their only interest is in closing the sale, after that, they are done being helpful. I do not reccommend AT ALL!

We have been with Paychex for 13 years and the last 6 months have been awful. They closed part of their San Jose office and moved it to Fresno. Since that time everything has gone badly. Every week we have a new payroll specialist, payroll not being delivered on time, people not returning phone calls, including managers, even their phone system was screwing up. Today is the last straw when our payroll was suppose to be delivered. When I called they haven’t even processed it yet, even thought it was sent in the day before and on time. I was asked that since the checks were dated for tomorrow could I just not wait till then? I said no, that I would be out of the office and really needed them today. I was told that they would process it and someone would deliver them. That was 4 hours ago. I called the manager of the branch and after dealing with their disaster of a phone system, left a message and he has not called me back either. ADP here we come.

We had a small business for 4 years that utilized Paychex and had never more than 2 checks a month. As long as there were only two checks a month and the amount never changed, Paychex did okay. Then we stopped the two checks and hired a part time employee. Half the time Paychex would not call me for payroll info like they said they would. Once I told our account specialists to pay the part time employee 42 hours. She paid him $ 42.00. We had numerous problems, and when I would call our account specialist I would get a recording saying to leave a number and when I did, most of the time it was the next day or later when she would call me back. They must have a high rate of turnover, as I had several account specialists during the four years.
Then in April this year we decided not to operate the business anymore. I told Paychex and they said I would have to pay a fee for the year end reports and I said okay. They took $ 7.95 out of our bank account and I thought that was the year end fee they told me about. I then closed the bank account. Then I got a bill in the mail from Paychex saying that I owed $ 393.00 to close out the year end and that when they tried to get this money from my bank account they found they no longer had access to that account. We e-​mailed back and forth several times and finally they agreed that we didn’t have as many employees as they wanted to charge us with and they lowered the year end amount to $ 301. On July 11, 2014 I sent them a personal check in that amount that they immediately cashed. Today, August 21, 2014 I receive a letter dated August 13, 2014, from Credit Collection Services Division of HRS saying we owed $ 301.00. I talked to someone named Aaron in their accounting office and when he checked, they had received the check from me on July17th.
Never during the four years of doing business with them have I had a bill at the end of the year for such a high amount. They are just full of little surprises.
I am tired of the hassle I have gone through with Paychex, and if I have anymore business with them I will let an attorney handle it. Also, once you become a client they swamp you with e-​mails and calls wanting to provide you with other services.
I do not recommend their services to anyone.

They made it so difficult to use my HSA account that I actually gave up and surrendered the money rather than deal with the stress. Receipts were not good enough proof, recurring visits still required receipts be faxed, with doctors notes, receipts had to have specific verbiage, three, four times a week I had to fax docs. I had to fax plan info over to further prove the charges were valid. Awful customer service, shoddy explanations on the criteria for the ‘red flags’, arbitrary rules. Hassle. Even Kaiser said it was nuts what they were putting me through.

I’m not a customer of Paychex, but my phone number is only one digit away from theirs, so I get a constant barrage of wrong numbers meant for them. Based on these calls, I’d say that the majority of their customers sound disgruntled and unsatisfied.

At the beginning of this year, in a now obvious sales push, I was persuaded by a couple of Paychex salespersons to switch from ADP based on price and service. Paychex touted itself as the champion of the small business person. As a small 2 person company, I assumed I would receive better service from Paychex. I had previously used ADP without any problem, but thought I could do better with Paychex and it’s orientation to the small business owner.
I couldn’t have been more wrong! And Paychex turned out not to be any less costly than ADP when the ink dried.
1. The 401K salesperson that I initially met with was a total no-​show after signing on to Paychex. She also failed to tell me about the additional hidden costs like the required bond for the company 401K.
2. The account manager salesperson told me they would handle canceling my service with ADP and I would not incur any double costs for overlap of service.
3. this same service account manager promised next day assistance when I had repeated trouble accessing the system — no response.
4. Paychex somehow independently input an old address for my business from 2 years ago and despite personal calls and promises to get it changed, mail continues to be delivered to the wrong address.
5. The Paychex HR sales person (my fourth person to deal with) showed up trying to sell more products and promised immediate action on my first 3 problems.
Three weeks later and there still is not a resolution to any of these issues. Paychex never called ADP and I had to spend a half hour on the phone with ADP to get my refund for the overlap of service for a month.
These folks make ADP look like the masters of customer service. I’d be out of business if I treated my customers this way. To rub salt in my wounds, when I finally called ADP to cancel they said they would have matched Paychex’ prices.

This is rich, really rich. I work for a company that uses the services of Paychex to process our bi-​weekly pay checks. I had a raise due last year, when my raise was enacted our rep at Paychex decided to change my tax stauts and STOP deducting ALL taxes from my pay check. I did not figure this out until I was preparing my taxes as the bi-​weekly pay raise seemed in line with what my new pay rate was. And naturally I get my checks auto deposited and rarely open the envelope.
When my tax prep person caught the mistake I contacted Paychex to ask what had happened and was told if there was any problem they were not liable in any way for any possible damages or tax liabilities that may arise from their erroneous changing of my tax status. Oh, and by the way they also changed the status of another employee, just for the heck of it I guess. Wow, what great customer service and thanks for taking some measure of responsibility for your error!
Needless to say the tax return I was expecting became a tax bill I now owed! Thanx Paychex!
Now all that would have been required was a mea culpa or some other form of acting like a responsible company that takes their job seriously and also hopes that we as a customer might trust them in the future as they clearly are incapable of doing a good job without being diligently watched (which I am pretty sure is why we use a pay check company as we do not know what to watch!).
Word to the wise if a company is handling your money and paying your taxes you may want to choose one that knows how to spell, that should have been a warning, I don’t take the paying of taxes lightly, and neither should they!

These people are so unorganized! I ordered my W2 late and then waited and waited and nothing came. I call back and they want to know who I talked to cause it never got done. They seemed mad that I didn’t write down the persons name but umm I paid over two hundred dollars for it and they cant figure out where the hell it is? Never use these guys for your payroll they are lacking big time!
