Extremely nice helpful staff! When I first entered the store they offered me help with finding what I needed, and when I told me I was just browsing the lady wen on to tell me about their sale going on. They really are focused on helping customers. Loved this store! Also this Payless is way more NEATER than other Payless’.

Definitely the worst Payless in San Jose! I love shopping at Payless for their great selection of cute and comfortable shoes, but this store has constantly been the worst Payless I have been to. I have been to this store a little more than 5 times I believe and each time I have had a bad experience. Cons: Very messy shelves/disorganized Wrong prices Lack of stock Damaged shoes EXTREMELYRUDESTAFF I will never buy shoes from here! When a customer asks for help it is your job to attempt to assist them. The cashier was extremely rude and would not tell me how much the shoes cost after a discount and would not look to see if any other stores had them. She was very unhelpful and all she could say was come back tomorrow when the manager comes in… yeah I’m not coming back. Highly recommend saving your money instead of buying their damaged shoes.

Normally, I’m a Nordstrom rack kind of shoe shopper, but I just needed some cheapie dress shoes that my girls could wear(and destroy) for school. The staff there were SONICE and HELPFUL! Ended up getting several pairs for the price of less than one at a more expensive store, but mostly I felt compelled to buy because the ladies working there were AWESOME!

This Payless shoesource is located in Oakridge mall near Target and Gamestop. You can normally find a 20% off coupon either off the internet or in a magazine or newspaper. If your looking for a nice cheap pair of shoes for the kids or teenagers then this is your stop. Sometimes they run a buy one get one half off sale. Staff is so-so, hit or miss. Stock is so-so but you can have them check stock at other stores. 3 stars

Last weekend, to my horror, my daughter announced she needed new sneakers. It seems if one of the kids doesn’t, the other one does. Sometimes they both do. My sneakers last for YEARS, this whole«growing bigger» thing really sucks when it comes to shoes! Hence … Payless! Normally we go to the store on Blossom Hill over by Tap Plastics, but since I was at the mall anyway and we had time to kill until I could pick up my ring from the jeweler, in we went to look for sneakers. Plus: they were having a Buy-One-Get-One-Half-Off sale. Actually, only a plus to my daughter — I bought her a pair of sneakers, she got another pair of shoes for herself half-off. Being a parent is rough! Anyway, the whole visit took about 45 minutes longer than it should have because instead of grouping shoes by size(like other stores — and like this store’s children’s section is done), the shoes are all on display with the boxes underneath(sort of, sometimes just in the general vicinity of the one on top). Which meant that for every«OMG I *love* this shoe!» there was a pause while we scanned every box for her size. And then discovered that often the shoes IN the box are not actually the same size as marked ON the box. Gee, must be fun to have so much spare time that you can go out mixing up shoes in boxes for giggles. It’s SO much easier to show the start and end of the section and say«here are your choices — don’t look beyond the boundaries, you’ll only get frustrated by seeing something you like that doesn’t come in youry size» … especially when dealing with an almost-teenager who thinks shoes are the bees-knees. So to this point — 2 stars. Third star is because when we took her final selections to the counter, and the first pair rang up at $ 30 and I said«the sign on the top of the display says they’re on sale for $ 20» the clerk said«yah that happens a lot, the signs aren’t clear and get moved — no worries, I’ll give you the $ 20 price» … and we still got the second pair for half-price. Or, I should say, my DAUGHTER did. Me, I was glad that I didn’t end up dinged for $ 10 more than I’d agreed to back when trying shoes on!
