Agree with all the worse customer service review! They didn’t even checking up with the customers or try paying attention to customers and see if the customers need anything. Ending up with walking to the cashier to cancel my order(because it took them forever to bring me the food I boyfriend already finished his food).

Came by in the morning to eat some phở for breakfast a couple weeks back. Spacious restaurant with a horrible parking lot, but good thing it’s never too busy in the morning! I ordered my favorite bowl of phở of rare steak and brisket! Their sizes are generous compared to many, many other phở restaurants. Their broth was a bit dark that morning, so I’m not sure if it was an old phở broth but the beef broth was definitely dominant and didn’t have much of a phở spice to it. Regardless, the bowl of phở was still great. The meat were so tender and soft and it was very pleasing to eat. A convenient place near SJSU, I’d definitely be stopping by here for some good phở!

First of let me say that this place has HORRIBLE customer service. They are rude and just try to rush you to order. Save your money and time and dont come here. This is the PHO they gave us to eat.

This place is excellent. Very very good phở. Great meat selections. I usually always order #1A phở. It has steak, chicken, tripe, roast beef and very excellent oxtail. I’ve been coming here for years and I think only one time did I find that the Phở was not super steaming hot. They also have great avocado shakes, incredible vermicelli, egg rolls, spring rolls, and of course Vietnamese coffee. Soooo good. Maybe not the very best service attitude per western standards, but always very quick, and always always super friendly! I love this place!

MYFAVORITEPHOSPOT! This is THEONLY place I go for Phở. I have to admit that the service wasn’t always the greatest in the past, but I think they might have seen the negative reviews about customer service because they have really stepped it up! I always have the #30(seafood and pork with yellow noodles) and my fiancé usually has the #1(beef tendon and white noodles) Although their combination fried rice and fried egg rolls are delicious too! Cash only so bring cash, and they get really busy on the weekends(And for some reason the food seems EXTRA good on the weekends)

This is literally the most disgusting place I have ever eaten at. My soup literally tasted like soap. I don’t know what the chefs were thinking… but I am very sure it was not the food. Also, take precaution before going into that restroom. That thing reeks! Plus, they didn’t even offer me water. Like, what kind of restuarant does that?

Horrible service today and it wasn’t even busy. Been here a few times before for lunch and it wasn’t this bad. Plus it seems like we got jipped on the food portion sizes. Had to keep calling the server to bring us things at least 3 – 4 for each forgotten item. :(

I think Phở Tau Bay is a great Vietnamese option. The menu is good, expansive, and the portions are generally good. Everything I’ve had here has been very good. I think it is relatively authentic. The large phở, which, admittedly is $ 10, is massive and will fill anyone up, including myself. As far as flavors in phở go, their phở is very good. The spices and flavor go together perfectly, and there are no odd flavors. The service is abrupt but I assume that is customary. They do rush you to order though as soon as you come in. Why wouldn’t you give the customer adequate time to look at the menu, thus increasing their chances of buying more things? The other upside is they are open until midnight. The main downside is they do not serve alcohol.

As we came in the door, the man handed us the menu and pointed to our seats. I found it weird how he didn’t walked us over. Anyways, the waitress came over and asked if we were ready. I replied«no, not yet» and she gave me a look like tf. When she came back the second time to take our order, she asked my sister what she wants and then to me she was like«YOU!!?» with her arms crossed. I found that extremely rude of her. Overall, sucky customer service with okay food. I have had better food.

Cool vibes/thoughts: + Must try: A-3 Vietnamese Fried Egg Rolls. It’s a tasty egg roll itself, but the texture is amazing and add lettuce and mint leaves. It is a winner! + This place is open until MIDNIGHT. There are not a ton of quality restaurants that are open this late. + Speedy service. Find your seat, a menu is at your table by the time you sit down. Once you order, food comes in a less than 10 minutes. Amazing! — CASHONLY, but there is an ATM located in the restaurant.

Come here a few times already and have some mixed feelings about this place. First time: It was pretty late, and my entire party was pretty hungry. We got seated pretty quickly, and we ordered our food pretty quickly. Service was responsive and fairly quick considering how it was pretty crowded. However, the broth was only luke warm and the noodles were way too soft. Disappointed in the broth mainly because that’s my favorite part of phở. Second time: I went with a pretty big party, and we were seated right by the door because tables on the inside weren’t cleared. It was FREEZING cold that night and we had to deal with a blast of wind every time someone opened the door. But that wasn’t the worst part. The service was HORRENDOUS. When they brought out the phở, they yelled at two of my friends to move. That is not how you treat customers. If you need them to scoot over you ask them nicely, not yell at them. And then when we asked for a refill on tea, they just waved us away rudely and was like«pop the lid» but they weren’t even coming to our table to check on us, so. Terrible service that night Third tine: so I was on a triple date and we were looking for a quick bite before the movies, so my group wanted to get some phở. This time, the server we got was super friendly and energetic and joked a lot with the people in my group. The food came out fast and they gave huge portions of meat in my phở tai. The noodles were nicely cooked, but the broth was still my biggest disappointment. There was no beef flavor to it, almost just like soysauce and water, but at least it was hot this time. This place is overall pretty inconsistent with both food and service.

This is a divey phở place at it’s best. The staff remembers us, what we ate, and sits us at the same table each time we go. They’re pretty great. We love the place and the people. Phở– good quality meat, good tasting broth. Bun– good quality add-ins. Crunchy noodle dishes– super fresh, very green vegetables that are cooked to perfection. The noodley dishes seem a little Americanized in the best way. Specialty coconut drinks– passable, ordinary but the prices are good. Service– very friendly. Food comes fast but they don’t check up on you often which could be good or bad depending on what you like, although it’s nice to feel like you can take your time enjoying the meal without feeling pressured to pack it up. Ambience– divey– I wasn’t too sure about this place when I first walked in and I’m really happy I gave it a shot. This is our go to dinner dive when we just want some good food any time of night. The variety makes sure that you won’t be tired of the selection. Surprisingly the quality of the materials is good from shrimp to vegetables. I love feeling like I ate something beautiful, tasty, healthy, and cost effective.

I’ve come here on multiple occasions, so I’m surprised I haven’t written a review yet! While I must be honest in that I haven’t found my favorite phở place in San Jose yet, this place comes pretty close. Overall this place is pretty generous with their portions, the price is standard, and the service has always been on point(regardless if it’s busy or not — as I’ve come during prime time on the weekends and dinner time during the weekdays). I think the only gripe that I might have about this place is the shortage of parking spaces as it is located in a pretty small plaza. I absolutely LOVE bun bo hue and this place serves a heaping bowl of it! While I’m not a huge fan of the pork feet and blood that comes with it, all the other meats are plentiful! The broth is pretty decent too. For the phở, I get the #1 without tripe. The portions are huge! This place doesn’t skimp on the BBH/phở additions(bean sprouts, lime, cabbage, jalapeños, etc.) as well. I’ll keep coming back to this place as it has never disappointed me yet!

Not my first time here, but my first time reviewing it. Right off the bat customer service is pretty much non-existant. They don’t greet you or make you feel welcome. They are rude and take you to your table as if it’s a chore and they already want you to leave. Maybe it’s because we’re not Vietnamese? We’re Mexican-American. Food is good. Just hope they didn’t spit in it or did anything malicious. The waitress sat us(3 of us) next to a family. We asked for a separate table, so she took us. We we’re reading our menus and another waiter came said something under his breath and wiped off our tables. Not caring that the crumbs and leftover food fell on our laps. OK… Overall if your not asian, maybe steer clear from this place. You might be treated like crap. Maybe that might seem racist but it sure felt like we were being discriminated. That is all.

This is my 4th visit in past 2 weeks. This was an accidental from find on a late night menu. I had ton of phở, phở ha and Hu tieu. I like the dry Hu tieu with soup on the side. The food is fresh and keeps me healthy. It has crabs, quail eggs, pork falling off the ribs. I could eat here every day if I could. Best it is open till mid night!

Food quality is terrible. The waiters are rude. If I could give no stars, I would. Do not come here. I know that soup quality is generally terrible when you dine at 11PM. But if you choose to open late, at least serve some decent quality phở! I’ve been to other Phở Tau Bay locations in San Jose and they’re known for serving hot soup. .apparently not this location. The waiters refuse to clean up the tables towards the inside so they forced my group of 10 to dine next to the door. I ordered a large phở tai. A combination of cold noodles straight from the fridge and our party sitting near the door made our soups cool down QUICK. A member of my group tried to ask for more tea. The first waiter looked away. The second waiter rudely waved his hand and frowned at us. Then a woman came over to us and said«next time just pop the lid.» Yeah sure, we’ll do that if you will even come to our table. Bottom line. don’t come here.

The place honestly isn’t as bad as people say it is. First of off… the parking here sucks during rush hour because its at the intersection at two big streets which have limited street parking. Once the lot is full. then you’re forced to drive blocks away to find parking then walk over. CASHONLY restaurant but there’s an ATM that charges like $ 4 for pulling out cash… so it’s advised to have your cash ready. I usually get the vermicelli here because it comes in such a large portion and has a good deal of meat and noodles. Phở here is average but also comes in a good portion. Crispy pan fried noodles in which i like to call it the Bird Nest comes with tasty crunchy noodle topped with flavorful beef and veggies. Dip it in in hoisin sauce and chilli sauce then it’s gooooood to go. Decent vietnamese cuisine location but there are definitely better spots in san jose such as restaurants down the street at the Grand Century!

I miss it when phở used to cost under $ 7. I generally hardly eat Vietnamese food, Asian cuisine as a whole but if I have to choose, I would pick Vietnamese to eat everyday for the rest of my life. Phở is a common thing most people know. A lot of people don’t have a clue to what we eat daily. I’m talking canh huu qua, thit dong, ga kho guong, ca pha si, thit kho, bap cai xao, mien xao, canh mong toi, canh thuon, trung duc, and the list goes on and on but you get the gist. Not only Vietnamese cuisine is healthy(for the most part), it doesn’t cost much at the grocery store to make it yourself. Even if you have an unlimited bank account, no restaurant has the things we eat on a day-to-day basis. Believe that. Anyway. Love their broth. Love their other location. Hate that they’re a cash only joint. Service is fast as hell. I want a phở dac biet w/tai de rieng now!

I came here couple times(just because of convenience) The phở is alright. Wouldn’t go here again for the phở. 3⁄5 Although the Bun bo hue is good(not the best), this place wouldn’t be my go-to if I’m craving this dish. I would go to ANNAM or somewhere else instead 4⁄5 Service is okay
