This place is just like the other Phở Viets that line First St., but a lot bigger. One other thing I noticed is that they have a special menu in addition to the regular. Not sure the other restaurants have this, but I wish they did. On the special menu is a wonton seafood w/bok choy — my all time favorite for seafood phở.

This place was fine. What I did like about it was that they only do Phở; very few other choices and no combo platter stuff. To me though, I’ve had 5 star phở and this just wasn’t it. It had all the right ingredients but the beef was fatty and the broth was so-so. Order the rare beef for sure — it was best.

I’m so happy I’ve found a good phở place by my house! The service was good, and our food came out quite quickly. The egg roles were delicious, and so was the soup. The portions seem a little smaller than other phở places in the area, but still a great deal.

I’ve even a lot of phở the last 15 years, and this one hits high on my list. The flavor or the broth is awesome, they give you lots of steak, and it’s always quick service. I usually order small phở tai(rare steak) steak on the side, extra lime. Don’t let the size of the bowl fool you, it expands so much in your stomach and next thing you know you look 9 months pregnant. Back to my story… bowl of phở arrives, steaming hot with the best scent of beef broth well seasoned. Add sprouts, jalapeños to give broth spiciness, squeeze lime, and one BIG squeeze of sriracha. Now remove jalapeños, add steak and mix everything well. In one of those side dishes put plum sauce(note: the best plum sauce I’ve ever had!!! Yummy!) and a squeeze of sriracha in the center. Fill spoon with noodles, grab steak and dip in sauce and put on top of noodles and eat. After every bite, wipe nose as the spiciness will get to you. Lol

I dig this place… usually I am there for lunch about once a week. The restaurant is clean and the service is quick, even when it is busy the food is served in a timely manner. Great prices and quality bowls. I really like the Phở, some of the other dishes are good but nothing to rave about.

I bought some food to go. There was a cockroach inside the bundle of utensils. You know what I’m talking about, the utensils that come with a fork and spoon and napkins and are bundled together with a rubber band. Yea there was a roach bundled up in there as well and it ran out as soon as I started pulling out the fork. This place is not as clean as it looks. Food was good though.

Just bought a house around the corner and the wife and I decided to drop in after moving a few things during the week. Clean little place, friendly waiter and the food was very good. Had the shaken beef and my wife had the sea food phở. The broth had a lot of flavor compared to most phở place I’ve eaten in and since it’s right around the corner, it will be my weekly phở fix!

Ate here a couple of times the past weeks. Lunch, different kinds of beef phở, fresh spring rolls with shrimp. There is often a line out the door and the reason is simple — it is really really good. Very fast service, sometimes they make little mistakes because it can get insanely busy. Just be clear in what you order. Some of my coworkers are completely addicted to this place and I must say I am leaning that way too!

Honestly, one of the best phở’s I’ve ever had! The broth was super flavorful, that I didn’t need to add much else to it! Definitely will be eating here again!

I love this place their beef stew phở with rice noodles is so yummy and their seafood phở is so good. I love being able to walk down the street on my lunch breaks and this time of year is especially good for phở because of the colder weather. I love this place even their veggie phở can be served in veggie broth for those whole hearted Vegans out there.

Good service and phở. Their shaken beef and autumn rolls are pretty amazing! The only complaint is that the place can be an ice box! So cold!

3.5 stars Came here for lunch on a weekday. We walked in and there were plenty of empty tables. One of the employees had us come over to a table, but we asked if we could sit in one of the empty booths. He said we could but he had to clean it first. So he did that really quickly and we were able to sit down with our menus and water. Later, the same guy brought over our chopsticks which were in these paper packets along with napkins. The chopsticks here are fun green ones. They have a bunch of noodles soups options, including phở. You can get most of the noodle soups with your choice of rice noodles or yellow noodles. They also have rice plates, noodle plates, and eggroll/spring roll appetizers. I ended up ordering the vegetarian noodle soup with yellow noodles(I think it was #31 or 32 on the menu). It came with tofu and vegetables. I ordered the small size. I thought this was pretty tasty! The tofu was good, the noodles were good, and the vegetables were good. The veggies included bok choy, broccoli, and cabbage. When I have noodle soups, I don’t drink the broth, so I don’t know how good the broth was, but the flavor of the noodles and the veggies was good. Service was pretty quick and the place seemed clean. There was a steady stream of people coming in for lunch, although it never got fully packed for a Tuesday. They accept credit card. I would come back if I was ever craving Vietnamese noodle soup.

With limited places to eat around the county and courthouse, this place has been the go to spot after it was remodeled and taken over. The food is yummy and wait staff know my co-worker and I once we walk in. I usually order #13 or #60. The egg rolls are always fresh and crispy. The spring rolls are also fresh and crispy. We go there faithfully 3−4x a month. Recommended place to go!

one of the best broth i’ve tasted in all the Phở places in San Jose, and this is a chain but they are very consistent since i’ve tried two other Phở Viet. service is very professional, servers smile at you and say thank you and not take you for granted.

I’ve been coming here regularly for about a year now, and after having a pretty bad phở experience in Mountain View I felt it was time I show my appreciation for this place. I’ve tried a good variety of items on their menu but I typically choose between my 2 favorites which are the vegetable phở with chicken broth and egg/yellow noodles(love that they have the option for egg noodles btw) or the chow mein plate with shrimp. They use a great variety of fresh vegetables for most of their plates, but I’m a big fan of the use of baby bok choy, celery, broccoli, cabbage and carrots in their veggie phở bowl. You can ask for chicken instead of tofu, which I sometimes do. They’ll give you a somewhat small amount of the chicken but I don’t really mind since you’re essentially getting more substance with all the veggies you wouldn’t get in a plain chicken phở bowl. The basil is always fresh and plentiful, which I like since I tend to use a lot of it. Their chow mein is the exact amount of chewy that I like and the sauce is always so good, and again with the veggies. Cabbage, celery, bell peppers, onion, carrot, and broccoli. The only thing that would make it perfect is if they added bamboo. If you order shrimp they usually give you 5 or 6 large shrimp, which is fine with me considering you get a very large heaping plate of noodles and veggies to go with it. This might seem kinda silly but I also appreciate the crushed ice they use for their drinks since I have a habit of chewing my ice, and its gentler on my teeth :) Anyways, Phở Viet for the win!

I’m so glad that there’s a cheap option for phở on my side of N.1st. Sometimes I’m craving a bowl of hot noodles at 12am and I’m out of luck because San Jose is so square that everything closes around 11pm. Of the two Phở Viets on N.1st(there’s one next to Chipotle adjacent to the Matrix), this is definitely the one I’ll be coming back to. The portions are bigger, the prices cheaper, and the service much friendlier. If there’s a common thread between my reviews, it is the demeanor of the waiters. The nice lady who served us greeted us with a big smile even though it was late at night and there were only 4 tables occupied. Everything was clean and tidy(except that one random booth in the back…). My friend and I ordered a bowl of vermicelli, a bowl of phở, and an order of spring rolls. Like the other reviews mention, they don’t skimp on the noodles, but in contrast with the average amount of meat, you’ll feel full just from looking at the noodles. My broth was a bit too salty for my taste. The spring roll was delicious and wasn’t overfilled with scallions, which I greatly appreciate. There’s also a one time use 25% off amazon local deal for this location! Hollaaaa +4 service, location, hours, overall value –1 for the broth being too salty
