Play ‘N’ Learn Preschool

Looking for a preschool for my 2 ½ year daughter was one of the most difficult things I have ever done as a parent. I am sure many can relate when looking for the best, most reliable care for our little ones. I was the parent that needed to know all the details — Will she eat? Will she sleep? Will she make new friends? Will she like the teachers? Will she learn? Will she have fun?
My daughter is the new kid in class, and has been there for a week now. It is her first time being away from me for more than 6 hours in a day, and honestly, it was tough emotionally. She cried in the beginning, and still has her moments (me too, lol). But she also comes home with many stories playing with friends, reading new stories, playing fun games, singing new songs, and learning her ABCs and 123s.
Ms. Theresa is fun and full of energy. My daughter became very attached to her from the moment she started school. This week my daughter told me she learned about airplanes, read stories, and even made shapes with different colors of Play Dough (her favorite!) Ms. Deepthi, the school director, is loving and obviously passionate in what she does. She greets my daughter every morning and is trying very hard to help her adjust to the new setting with comfort and ease.
This transition for my daughter has had its ups and downs. She cries and asks for me from time to time, which is expected, especially when she has gotten used to being with me everyday, for the last 2 ½ years. I must say that I am very impressed with the way the staff has taken my daughter in and made her feel included in the group. I love how all of the teachers at the school work together to care for the children. Even if my daughter is not in Ms. Lyka, Ms. Yadira, Ms. Rochelle, Ms. Patty, and the other teachers’ classes, she will tell me that they comforted her during mealtime, naptime, and playtime. I feel bad because I can’t name them all, but I know that they help each other to provide the best care for our kiddos. I am so appreciative that everyone has played a part in helping my daughter adjust to her new school. It is very comforting to know that the teachers are so patient and understanding with her.
I also like that I can approach the director and teachers whenever I have questions or concerns. I do not ever need to make an appointment, and they welcome me anytime with their open-​door policy.
The school also has special events for different occasions — just recently they had a sweet Mother’s Day Tea party and will have an event for Father’s Day too. They also celebrated Cinco de Mayo with food, costumes, and more.
In only a week, my daughter came home speaking Spanish! I love how she’s learning a second language. Yesterday, she greeted someone and asked, «Como estas?» LOL. Also, the teachers help with potty training. My daughter will say, «My teacher helped me put on my pull-​up after I used potty.»

I’ve been trying to find a good place to sign my 3yr old up for preschool. After taking a tour of the facility and meeting some of the teachers I felt like this would be a great option. After speaking with Ms. Coco and getting to know how the school works and what type of curriculum they offer I felt completely comfortable that this would be a good fit. The facility was clean and inviting. The children seemed happy and comfortable. All the teachers were very patient and kind with the kids. My daughter who doesn’t take well to new people or settings seemed at ease and was able to interact very well with Ms. Coco and Ms. Layka. I really appreciate their understanding of my daughters needs and that they are willing to help us with getting her acclimated with the facility when the time comes.

Both of my daughters have been going to Play ‘N’ Learn. My oldest daughter started out when she was about three and a half when she started. My husband and I had looked for several preschools before looking at Play ‘N’ Learn. We were not impressed with the other schools we looked at. The last school that we had an appointment with was with Play ‘N’ Learn. We brought our daughter with us. At the time, it was recess and Ms. Lyka’s class was outside. Our daughter joined them and she fitted in right away. We talked to Ms. Deepthi, the director and she seemed to genuinely care about the students and the school. We knew then that we had found the right school for our daughter.
I remember feeling apprehensive dropping my oldest daughter off with my husband on her first day of school. It was the first time we were leaving her with anyone other than her grandparents. She was fine. At the time, Ms. Jaya was the morning help. She assured us our daughter would be fine and she took good care of her.
During my oldest daughter’s first year, she learned how to read and write with Ms. Lyka, the pre-​K teacher. She was even sent home with homework. After about six months, Ms. Deepthi, told me my daughter wanted to do more, so she recommended moving her to Jr. kindergarten. I was apprehensive at first because my daughter liked Ms. Lyka, but right after she moved, my daughter adapted quickly to her new class. Shortly after, Ms. Deepthi told me again that my daughter still wanted to do more, so my daughter was moved to Ms. Shak’s kindergarten class. From then on, my daughter continued to excel in reading and writing. She also learned how to count to 100 and how to add. I was impressed with how much my daughter learned at such a young age. She then moved on to kindergarten at a public school and did very well. When she finished kindergarten, I was able to enroll her to Play ‘N’ Learn for summer school, because her public school did not offer summer school. My daughter is now in first grade and she still continues to do well. Play ‘N’ Learn laid a good foundation for her to excel in public school.
My youngest daughter started right before she turned three. At the time I enrolled her, my oldest daughter was still going to Play ‘N’ Learn. My youngest daughter had attachment issues. One week before she started, Ms. Lupe, the toddler teacher suggested that I leave my daughter with her for about 10 minutes while I wait outside. My daughter cried of course, but after a while she calmed down. When I went to get her, I see her playing outside. My daughter was not potty trained. In less than a year, she was eventually potty trained.
In a month my youngest daughter moved to Ms. Coco’s class, the preschool teacher. Ms. Coco showed my daughter how to trace lines. Over time she was improving. The following year, she moved to Ms. Lyka’s class and she learned how to write her name. When she comes home, she would constantly tell me she wants to practice her name. Ms. Lyka had sent home a homework packet that my daughter was to complete in a month. My daughter finished it in a few days. She enjoyed doing her homework.
My youngest daughter to this day still gives me a hard time in the morning when I drop her off. Ms. Cecelia, Ms. Shubhda, Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Lupe, and Ms. Shak have been good about taking her in the morning. All of the staff at Play ‘N’ Learn genuinely care about the children there. I was fortunate to have found a preschool was I comfortable with.

My son attended Play’N’Learn (it was Montessori Academy then) from ²¹⁄₂ yo to 41/​2yo. Their prices are a bit pricey but worth it at the same time very flexible options of payments, they even try to work with you as much as they can to accommodate to your financial limitation/​needs (Ms. Deepthi was very kind, considerate and very understanding when it comes to payments). He started with their potty training program which worked & very successful. He was with Ms. Lupe very nice lady and very patient to kids ages 2 (or even younger I think.) After a few weeks I was very happy & proud of my son’s ability to go independently, thanks to Ms. Lupe. Then he moved to Ms. Lyka’s class to whom he responded even better since she is same nationality to us (all kids like Ms. Lyka;) My son is the only child at home and tends to be very shy that is why I decided to register him here (which was very convenient, only walking distance from where we live). Unfortunately I had to move my son to public school due to some needed adjustments otherwise he would have graduated here. Play’N’Learn was his first school where it enhanced his self-​esteem, confidence, learned how to mingle & socialize with other kids same age as him, leaned new skills, how to behave appropriately in a class, academically-​it brightens what he already knows. All this has prepared him so much going to a public school and made him quite ahead.
Other teachers we have met just recently before he left just recently after it has changed to Play’N’Learn were Ms. Shubdha, Ms. Coco, Ms. Noemi, Ms. Shak we’re all very approachable & has the dedication to teach, guide & enrich a child’s mind and heart growing. Thanks to all, you guys do an amazing job.

My son and daughter have been going to Play ‘N’ Learn for over 3 years. They take students from 18 months through Kindergarten. My daughter had just turned 2 and my son had just turned 3. I had been trying to potty train my daughter for about 2 months, but as soon as she started at the school, Ms. Lupe Avalos potty trained my daughter in a week! Both my kids excelled academically and mentally. They both went from relatively shy to very outgoing and playful. They were taught the alphabet, how to count, colors, the months, days of the week, and taught many songs that they would sing frequently at home. They learned to write and draw, and were given many art projects to fuel their creativity.
My son just graduated from Play ‘N’ Learn and has started Kindergarten at a Charter School whose academic standard is extremely high. His new teacher has already said that my son is very well prepared and is already ahead of the curve. My daughter will be entering Kindergarten next year and I know she’s more than prepared!
The teachers are extremely caring and patient, yet firm when necessary. A huge thank you and salute to all the teachers there; Ms. Lupe, Ms. Coco, Ms. Lyka, Ms. Shubdha, Ms. Shak, Ms. Cecilia, Ms. Noemi, Ms. Stephanie, and Ms. Deepthi. You are helping build the world’s future by building the hearts and minds of our children.

My son has been going here for about a year and half now. Both Ms. Coco and Ms. Lyka are very caring and wonderful teachers. Ms Lupe teaches the youngest kids and is always there early in the morning to help kids with breakfast or game playing. I like their hours, from 7am to 6pm, since both of us work full time. My son wasn’t talking much when he started. He was very shy in the beginning. Now, he speaks in full sentences most of the time and will eat other food other than cheese and milk and can actually sit still in a restaurant for more than 10min!
It took us 3 tries over the span of 6 months about 1 week each try but we finally got my son diaper trained about 2 months ago when he turned 4. Let me just say it took great efforts from everyone from home and school! Thx!
