Play-N-Learn Preschool

I am really happy with this school. My son has been here since August and I have seen such an improvement in him. I held him back from kindergarten last year and he had been in a different preschool. He has learned a lot more since the previous school. I also feel we really lucked out with him having Ms. Monica for his teacher. Admittedly… my son can be A LOT to deal with. He is full of energy with some other issues but he has really bonded to Ms. Monica and I can tell she truly cares for him as well. She always does the best she can with my son and doesn’t give up on him. I appreciate her more than words can say!!!
This is a fun place and often my son has asked me to pick him up late. He even cried on the way home asking me to take him back to school. I am really happy to have discovered this place. The only negative I can think of is merging from the parking lot to the Capital/​87 ramp in the morning-​but that’s not their fault. :)

My 2 year old son was enrolled here in the toddler program for about 4 months and we started off really liking the school and teachers, up until about a month ago when I got calls from the school every single Friday with an incident report. On 1÷15÷16 I was told my son got into a fight with another kid over a book and got a deep scratch on his cheek. One week later on, I got a call from school with a incident report stating my son had an injury to his forehead for «hopping in class» and bumped his head really hard to the shelves. I was a bit skeptical about the school thinking they may be short on staff and was not paying close attention to my son after the second incident. However, we continued to take him in school giving play n learn the benefit of doubt, then bam the following Friday, got a call from Angie with an incident report stating my son slipped on the steps walking up to the slide and had cut near his eye and ended up with a laceration, swelling and a big black eye. Again, where were the teachers when your 2 year old is walking up the steps? When we came to pick him up we were very upset at the school for not being able to provide a safe environment for my toddler in the playground. We withdrew my son out of the school right away due to negligence and of course the front desk staff were apologetic for the accidents and refund us the credit right away. I believe they have been short on staff and if they had enough supervision my son wouldn’t have multiples injuries back to back within 3 weeks. This is very disappointing as we pay 1400 for the full time program and will never return ever again. This school may be liked by many families but unfortunately it did not work out for us.

We sent our two children through this school and I can’t imagine a better preschool.
It starts with the Director, Tammy Lariz, who went to the school herself (her parents were owners) and who also put her three children through the school. This is clearly more than a job for her — it is a labor of love. She cares about the staff, the facilities, the parents — and most importantly — about the children.
Let me say a word about the staff. They are excellent. Unlike many schools that turn over people regularly this school retains their high-​quality staff. Some teachers have more than 20 years with the school. The new staff they bring in are excellent too. They bring in people with great skills, but who also have a real love of children. And they are more than just a «day care». This is a school. They like to teach, to help the children grow. I love the range of things they teach — music, plays, as well as the basics. They even help with potty training the littlest ones (something very few schools will take on)!
The facilities are excellent and well maintained. Just go to a couple of other preschools then come to this one and you will immediately see the difference. Quality equipment, well appointed classrooms, and well maintained buildings. Overall it is a safe, fun environment for the children.
Over the 7 or so years we came her there were one or two issues or concerns. But we just talked to the friendly front staff like Ms Jenny or Ms Angie, or to Tammy (the Director). They always heard us out and came up with a way to solve the issue.
Play-​n-​learn gave both of my boys got a great start for Elementary school, and both have very fond memories of this school. They often ask me if they can go back for a visit.
And Play-​n-​learn gave my wife and I peace of mind. Because every day we left our children we knew they were in a safe, fun, supportive place.
If you have a child of preschool age I highly recommend you check out Play-​N-​Learn. You owe it to yourself and to your child.

I was looking for childcare recently for my 3 year old, and my daughter who is now 13 went to this school when she was about the same age. So I decided to stop by around 2:00. First impressions are everything! I walked in the front office during nap time. At least 5 staff members were sitting by the receptionist talking loudly. The phone was ringing loud. And the poor kids close to the front door at least 6 or so were tossing and turning. The women didn’t even acknowledge me, or at least stop talking as I asked for an application. Like they didn’t care (Hello! New customer!). This behavior is not respectful and professional. There is no way I’m sending my son here. I didn’t even think twice about coming back for a tour. I stopped by 2 other preschools and the lights were out. Teachers were in separate locations and actually watching the kids nap. The kids deserve to sleep without nuisances.

I have no clue as to how they managed to give this place 4 stars in a half. My daughter attended the pre k class with ms. stephanie and Ms. Monica in the middle room both teacher who are no longer there, both teachers were great however we were not notified of any changes my child did not get to say goodbye to her teacher almost as if ms. stephanie was a nobody to the children .kids were being shuffled around every morning as I would drop off my child I would hear ms. jenny walk in and just take kids some of which did not want to leave to visit other classes, the classes that these children would go visit are classes that they were not even old enough to
child’s new teachers are great Ms. Serene and Ms. Lina I have never seen the room and the kids so excited to be at school. Which gives me some what of comfort of leaving my child in their care. I walk past ms. gretchens classroom in the morning and the kids are always playing the classroom wall has no art up or activities which means the kids play all day long with out learning anything, Ms. Amys class has nothing but craft art up every single day which means again that they simply do art and play all day long .Ms.rosas and ms. phus class which my daughter was a part of as well is great my daughter learned a lot being in their class. took a tour of the toddler class it was extremely disturbing the director back there I believe her name is Ms. Birdie was sitting in a chair from 10:15 — 12:45 the time of my visit. Toddlers with bugers would pass her back and forth and she just sat there, teachers were busy looked like they might of needed some help but she remained on her chair. Everytime I see the toddler teachers as I would go pick up my child she would be sitting in that chair … All classrooms have no clipboard with your child’s list in case of an emergency the teacher and staff would have no idea what child was even present that day… my child is 5 now and she is still in the pre k class with kids who are 3 years old, they have not moved her up yet .I decided to pull her out because the kindergarten class is the worst the teachers pretty much let the kids do as they please they have a child hang up in the front and act out as he wants and gets to play video games in ms. jennys computer as he pleases .this place is ridiculous if your looking for a place that shuffles kids around allllllll day long with different age groups and not enough teacher for all the children they are always out of ratio teachers come and go .your children play all day long with out learning than this place is great for you … I’d like to thank Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Rosa, Ms. Lina, Ms. Monica, Ms. Serene for being great teachers and great people to my daughter that star is for you guys!

I can agree with all of the previous reviewers that everyone at this school does such a great job. It’s really hard now in days to find a school that gives your child their undivided attention along with love and care.
One teacher Amy Mendez is especially great; she has a loving personality, always helpful and teaches so much to the children. She has a creative way with helping each child to learn which keeps the children excited and playful. I would recommend this school to parents that want teachers that actual teach and not babysit, care as if each child were their own and have satisfied results at the end of each year.

My son attends here. He started in preschool and we loved it so much we decided to keep him here for Kindergarten. The staff is super friendly and they’re great with the kids. Ms. Lisa and Ms. Elizabeth are wonderful teachers. My son has grown so much and is beyond Kindergarten level in reading, writing and math skills. He loves school and looks forward to going every morning. My only complaint is they stop at Kindergarten. We will definitely miss this school when he is done this year.

My son has been attending here for 6 months already, he said that Ms. Rosa is the nicest and he gets attached to her easily. I’m glad to hear that he enjoys going to this preschool. At first he wasn’t comfortable going to school but after a few weeks he’s fine. I definitely recommend this school to those parents who’s looking for a great day care. thanks Ms. Rosa for being so kind to my son.

My 2 and 3 year old have been attending play n learn for about 6 months now and they love going to school! My daughters have advanced further than I could anticipate throughout the short 6 months they have been enrolled. A huge THANK YOU to their teachers and ENTIRE staff for letting me work without worry throughout the day while at work. Thanks to the receptionist, Ms. Angie, for answering my 1,000,001 questions and addressing all parents and their questions on a daily basis. The activities, spirit week, and celebrations this school does is really outstanding! Thanks play-​n-​learn for the memories and knowledge my daughters gain everyday!

I refer to Unilocal often, but never write reviews. However, I really do love this school and wanted to share my reasons. My oldest child started here at Pre-​K and quickly made friends and loved it. We noticed right away that all of the teachers seem to know all of the students, even the ones that aren’t in their class. He stayed through Kinder and we were concerned starting him at a new school in 1^st grade that maybe he wouldn’t be at the same level as the kids that were at that school in Kinder. Well, he was exactly where he should have been! Also, he made some friends that have stuck even after he was gone. My daughter is now in her second year there. She started in the Toddler room and they were fantastic, and were so diligent with potty training that it made the battle at home that much easier. Again, all the teachers know her name and even remember my son when we come to pick her up. She’s learning a little bit of Spanish too, so that’s a plus. She’s always fed and maybe doesn’t always eat a lot, but she knows when she’s hungry and when she’s full, and she’s like that at home, so no concerns about the food. The facility and different play areas are A+, but I think that shows just by looking at them. They also offer Parent’s Night Out almost every month. My kids always want to go. Win all around! And, finally, the staff has always been great to us. Answers all our questions, greets us with smiles and knows our kids. They are busy, but still seem to always know what’s going on. We love it here! Special thanks to Ms. Jenny, Ms. Monica, Ms. Angie, Ms. Rosa, Miss Elizabeth, Miss Michelle, Mr. Carlos… thanks for always making us feel special.

My daughter is 3 years old has been attending preschool since summer 2014 she loves it and has learned so much and all the teachers Mrs Phu is always so helpful and awnsering my questions, and Mrs Rosa is also so kind is also helping with questions or concers to help our childs progress, both greeting us with a smile. All the teachers who are great Mrs Monica, Mr Joseph, Mrs Betty, Mrs Sukanya and all others too it seems that they remember all the kids names i think this is so great that they have a great memory. Mrs Angie is the front desk area is always so helpful and perky with a great smile she benifits the preschool very well that the first person you see in the morning and afternoon as you pick and drop your childrens off. She is always so helpful and any concern or question she is willing to help the best she can., The owner who hired her made a great choice her personality is so warm and its comforting that she is at this school working with our children. I thinks is so great because I think its great that she remembers everyones names and parents and also younger siblings who dont attend because they are too young, Makes me feel great as a parents that she and all others are there for our children. Id give 10 stars to this school if I could !! Best school !

My daughter has been attending this school since she was 3 (now 5) and my son also has been going here since he was 2 (now 4). I feel that staff does a great job in accommodating my needs (special food restrictions) and they keep me informed of my kid’s progress.
Front Desk Diva Angie is always HAPPY and welcoming. I love the individualize attention she provides to every parent that walks through the door.
Though I like how well thought out their lunch menus are, i still say that Mac n Cheese is a side dish and should not be a main dish ;-) I’m sure the kids are not complaining though.
Thank you Play n Learn for educating my kids. My daughter has gotten accepted to a private school and it wouldn’t have been possible without the wonderful teachers and staff.

All 3 of my kids have gone here and I recommend it to anyone in the area– my cousin sent her daughters here too! From the welcoming smiles of Angie and Jenny at the front desk to the teachers in the rooms, everyone knows my child’s name and she obviously feels loved and welcomed. The facilities are top notch and I love that they focus on academics but within a play-​based, age-​appropriate atmosphere.

My son has been going here for about a year and half now. His teachers, Ms CoCo and Ms Lyka are both very attentive and caring. My son went through potty training here. It took all of us three tries over 6 months with each time about a week, in the end, it was beautiful. He is 4 now and just got his first homework assignment!

My kids love this place. I love this place. It all starts with the front desk. Ms. Angie and Ms. Yasheva bring joy and love to every child and parent they greet you. Miss Jenny was very easy to talk with. And had very helpful with parenting tips. She always took the time to talk to me about my child, as did all of my children’s teachers. My daughter loved learning spanish for Miss Rosa. The whole staff is friendly and greets you. The amount of outdoor space for the kids to play is perfect. They celebrate every holiday, I have so much art work (academic projects) I don’t no what to do with it, but I love it. The teachers work well with the loudest kid, or the most soft spoken kid. My children loved participating in the Plays, Grandparents Day, Easter egg hunts, trick or treat, donuts with Dad, Mommy and Me, the book fair, Letters to Santa, And (my favorite) Parents Nite Out. They give the parents a lot of opportunity to support their children, during the early stages of learning.

My daughter has been going there for almost 2 years. She loves it and the staff are awesome. They are very caring and I know she’s learning and being taken care of. She’s made great friends and I look forward for another year.

I used to nanny for a child that goes here. Everyday I would pick her up I would be greeted by someone with a smile when I first walked in. I would then walk to the check out computers to enter my information.
Those computers are my only concern. While it is comforting to check her in and out, anyone can easily go in and do this. Many times it is really busy with parents going in and out that I’m not quite sure how they keep track of it all.
When I pick her up from her room which is seperated by age she is always happy. I’ve never walked in on her crying or bored which is nice too!
I wish that they would come up with a walkie talkie system to contact the teachers that a child is leaving, just as another way of confirming.
Other than that they seem really nice :)

Out of convenience, since living on Tuscany Hill, we decided to check out this preschool for our 2 year old daughter.
We were pleasantly surprised! They have a state of the art playground, lots of classes that are separated by Toddlers 16 months-​3 years), Jr Kindergarten, Pre-​K, and Kindergarten. The environment the kids learn in is fun and energetic. I love how they have events and fun classes for kids to take. They offer Spanish, Mini Chef Cooking, Karate, Dance, and Fitness Classes to name a few. Everything is done on site.
Don’t worry about the food your kids eat since they make their meals fresh everyday. If your child has dietary needs or allergies, let them know and they will accommodate them. My daughter needed to drink Soy Milk for a while so I would drop off a few cartons and label them with her name. The teachers made sure she had the soy milk with her breakfast and any other time they served the children Milk.
They have a very caring staff that makes your child feel happy and welcome when they get to school. My daughter has been attending this school since she was 18 months (toddler class) with Mrs. Monica. She loves her teachers and comes home singing songs that they have taught her. She’s progressing wonderfully by learning her shapes, colors, letters etc. She is about 2 years and 3 months now and we get compliments on how well she speaks and the things she knows. She can speak in sentences and communicates well.
This past week, they had a visit from a Petting Farm and brought farm animals so the children could be exposed to different animals.
The only quip I have with this preschool is the fact that they do not let your child make up days that they have missed due to illness. This does not encourage you to keep your child at home when they have a cold. Thus, our daughter gets the sniffles often after going to school.
It’s a pricey school but it’s worth it for us for the convenience of location and the education and progression she’s getting. She loves it here and we would recommend this school to other parents looking for a preschool. We pay about $ 223/​wk for MWF full day up to 6pm.
