Rollin’ Ice at Silver Creek Sportsplex

Awesome place to get your Hockey on. They have 3 rinks and are all in good condition.

The facility is nice, with decent amenities. Most of the staff look like they hate their job, and seriously need some experience with customer service.
And the refs, oh man the refs… They are the ones running this place! They have the ability to kick players out of games with NO ACCOUNTABILITY. I see it happen all the time on both sides of the bench. I’ve seen refs hold grudges and boot paying customers because they friekin feel like it.
HERE’S A TIP TO THE MANAGERS: If your refs boot somebody, that needs to be reviewed every time. You can’t just have punk ass kids who get angry and turn into crooked refs running your customer experience.
Also, I recommend some face time at the rink. Send out some customer surveys. From the players perspective, it looks like you don’t care.

I’ve played roller hockey all over the country for about 15 years now and I must admit — this is the nicest rink I’ve ever played at. I love the full length glass boards (although the pucks do bounce a little weird off of it). Things seem well run (although I’ve only played pickup, and never in the leagues). The only issue is it’s location, which I can’t imagine is really convenient for anyone.

Where can i start. I have been playing at rollin ice since it was at the fairgrounds. I have had my fun times and bad. The only thing that completely makes this business a total shit whole is the staff and the employees. I can rant until I die of exhaustion ripping on each employee there one at a time. Let me just make this clear as possible for the parents or adults wanting to have their kids start out at this place. It is not worth it. Spend your money for ice, you will get more of a career out of it and a hell of alot more respect. No employee at this facility give a crap about new people or someone they dont care much for. They will put people down and continuously talk smack about them. A ref named Yoshi i presume talked smack to a 10 year old kid saying he wassnt worth shit to the team he was on. I have not been more appalled towards someone for a kid who just had been on skates for not even 3 years. I was on the bench when he had said it to one of my players and i had gotten thrown out of the game for arguing with him. What a joke of a ref.
I have coached for 3 years here and have been playing for 13 years and have been kicked out of multiple games due to the refs who dont know how to do their job for sh’t. They are one sided, They talk about BS while play is going on with players on the bench and the score keepers. You go to any other rink in the bay area, the refs actually pay attention and get calls right. As a reviewer I can say that the refs you need to watch out for are Richie, Yoshi, Robert, Lani, and Andrew. All garbage refs but unfortunately you will be having a game with atleast one of them everytime you play. All these guys do is make calls towards a certain player or team. They have been doing this for a number of years and the management doesnt do jack about it. Its not worth your breathe complaining.
I would say this is probably the most unprofessional company and employees under a single roof. Dave Maley talking about how great this sh’t hole is. «its completely free we give you gear (thats not washed properly)» you get what you pay for.
I honestly wish I can give this negative stars, i cant stress that enough. Please go and pay ice people, youll get treated alot more fairly than you will this place. You pay more over there you get more, Ice time, respect, etc.

Great place to watch a game and to be in one. The food at High 5 is great

Best place to play men’s roller hockey in the bay area. Worth the drive from San Francisco once a week for the past 6 years. It has 3 rinks with a bar and a pizza restaurant overlooking one of the rinks. The scorekeepers are good about recording your stats and posting them to their site online. The players are dedicated and there are several leagues for all skill levels and ages.
I highly recommend Rollin’ Ice. I only wish that they were located closer to San Francisco so that I could play more often.

I nice place to spend a Friday with family and friends. Also indoor soccer and pizza! With the bar! I have been few times on the last 4 years, it can be really busy, but well organized!

When at this rink we make it a family dinner night. The best pizza around and the slam dunk is amazing.

My kids have been playing roller hockey here for quite some time, and for the most part have enjoyed their experiences. The food is fantastic and the pro shop employees are awesome! I do have some concerns about the continuity in enforcing the rules. I understand there to be a «0» tolerance for profanity and violence, but have witnessed on more then one occasion that not to be true. There is definite favoritism towards some of the more seasoned players and their families. When I complained to a manager that an adult cursed at my 10 year old son and pointed her middle finger at him, I was assured that she would be dealt with, only to watch her leave with no communication at all. I discussed this with the manager and he told me he knew her and she would be back later and he would discuss it with her then. It was explained to me, at an earlier date, that there would be a suspension and possible expulsion if an adult was found cursing at a child. I’m not sure if I can in good conscience ever refer anyone else to facility that doesn’t follow through consistently with their own rules. Silver creek promotes itself as a family friendly business. They need to support ALL of the families that spend many hours and hard-​earned dollars there!
That sort of favoritism seems to carry over into the rink as well. The referees aren’t trained properly to deal with the issues on the rink. While there are a couple that pay close attention to the games, most of them don’t seem to be too interested in doing their jobs well or with fairness.
I’ve tried to speak to higher level management about my concern, especially when it directly affected my own children, and got no where. There’s a lot of finger pointing and redirecting, but never anyone willing to solve a problem. I would consider looking into other options before I made a financial commitment to Silvercreek Sportsplex. It lacks the kind of leadership required to run a competetive sports facility.

What a bag of d’cks. The staff is like a roller hockey gustapo. The teams are stacked with players that play down to lower levels just to win. Sportsmanship here is a frigging joke! The staff team won a tournament by using players not on their roster and play many leagues higher, and it was a begginer tournament. What d bags! When I complained I was laughed at by the employees. When I complained to the league I was ejected from the complex with some bogus excuse that I was hassling the staff and I was told they had proof. I asked to see it, and it was never given to me. Don’t go here to play. These guys are a holes.

My boyfriend has been playing roller hockey here for a few years now and I tend to be the only one cheering on his team. Sometimes I’ll be there and a team will have a good amount of people there cheering or screaming their heads off. Its always fun watching the games. The staff is friendly at the check in desk, High Five and pro shop. With the exception of one or two, the reffs are pretty good especially yoshie even if he stands right in front of me so I can’t see the game sometimes. My only complaint is the bleachers hurt after a while

Indoor Hockey? Roller Hockey? Say whaaaa?!
Well I guess if you’re into Roller Hockey this is the place to be. 4 roller rinks, 1 store dedicated to just hockey, and a yummy bar and grill while you wait for your kids, boyfriends, husbands, or whoever is playing roller hockey with lots of flat screen TVs with the hottest sport on TV.
One thing I have to say about this place is there are lots of kids. It’s not just an indoor roller hockey rink, but there’s indoor soccer. Not sure what else. I stayed close to the rinks. Bathrooms are relatively clean. They have an eerie feeling but as long as it doesn’t smell have all the things a public bathroom needs than I’m okay. Considering this is a sports rink, I didn’t expect too much.
Locker Rooms looked relatively small to me. Each side has two locker rooms and bathrooms. One for the team on the rink and one for the team that’s going on next. Efficient. Lots of seating for spectators. Bring a but cushion if you’re going to stay for a while. Bleacher seats hurt after 30 minutes or so. Haha.
Parking. There is tons of parking. The one thing that is annoying is all the speed bumps in the parking lot! Yes, I understand the need of driving slow in a parking lot, but with speed bumps everywhere… I don’t want to park there! But I will anyways, since there is no parking anywhere else.
I have a feeling I’ll be coming here for my boyfriend’s roller hockey. Who knows, maybe I’ll pick it up too. (;

This review is mainly for the pro shop–
I’ve boughten several things here and there, wheels, sticks, helmet, etc. and have always experienced great customer service every single time. One of my favorite things at the proshop is the equipment cleaning. I strongly recommend every hockey player do it at least once a season for hygienic purposes. It’s a high-​tech cleaning process used by the pros and available for a very reasonable price, plus it makes your gear smell like a cherry slushee!
Anyways, most recently I had a situation with a big purchase I just made. And Tony was super helpful in making sure I was, in the end– happy. And I am! When you go into the pro shop, the staff is there to help you and you can go in there completely clueless– their #1 priority is to make you happy, and to get you to play hockey! (or soccer or lax). There is no pressure in any sale and the staff is always super informative and I’ve not once stumped them (I ask some pretty tricky questions sometimes). I always walk out of that shop feeling better about my hockey game, whether I make a purchase or not.
To sum it up, check this shop out. The service is exceptional, the product variety is excellent, and it’s a wonderful shopping experience every time, whether you walk out spending $ 500 or $ 0.

If you have a small child and want him to learn the basics of hockey its a great place.
I started taking my son here when he was still 2 for the free saturday morning skate class at 8am. We did this for a year. It really helped him learn the basics. As a result he started playing Ice Hockey just prior to turning 4. We are now back at the facility where he plays rollerhockey some weekends after Ice. Its 100.00 for a year membership and the league is free for the kids who are members. They get a practice friday night and a game saturday morning.
If you are wanting to expose your child to the concept of hockey without dropping the 1000.00 at logitech for the season this is a good place to start.
I think they even have free gear for the kids to use also.

The nicest rinks, bar none that I’ve seen. Spectacular view of play, seriously friendly staff, and High Five Pizza makes some of the best in the county. The inline hockey programs range from free for the little tykes, complete with loaner gear up through the adult league.
Our kids started playing at the old fairgrounds when they were under 8 yrs old. Still their favorite sport and oldest now plays in college. This is a terrific place to raise a kid and be a spectator parent. I’ve even played at an adult class (free!) and felt like a little kid (albeit with weak knees). This place rocks and I love it.
Likely expensive sport to get into initially, but I’ve found that most of the dues/​fees of other sports range up there in the $ 100+ range, so not out of the ballpark. And it’s fun fun fun for all — watch out, as your kids will get hooked.
Also check out the box lacrosse and soccer leagues in the same facility. Amazing place.

I would say that this place is a 3.5 but I’m putting down 3 so you guys can check it out for yourselves.
As a hockey facility: three very nice rinks, well cleaned and nice new locker rooms. I’m an adult league player, and they’re well organized in terms of teams and league schedules.
Indoor soccer: the fields look really nice and they seem to have that side of the operation running pretty well also.

Gripes: the league dues are almost as much as ice hockey, which is a big leap up from the roller hockey experience. the reffing there can be a bit frustrating because it is just so inconsistent, most players feel that the quality is definitely not in line with the quality of the facility. The «membership fee» for hockey ranges from $ 45 for 1.5 seasons to $ 80 – 100 for the year, (on top of league fees) but is not a USA hockey type insurance, but seems more like a needless additional tax theyre levying on us to pump up their profits.
Pro Shop: decent prices and a good selection, (same amount of gear as Sharks Ice in SJ) I don’t hesitate to buy sticks from here when they have a mild 20% off sale. Not as cheap as online, but you won’t be getting gouged if you do buy here.
Food: this is pretty much a full pizza place with a real-​life kitchen and a real and new bar, so for a hockey rink the dining is as good as youll find at msot sports places.
Staff: mostly helpful, sometimes a bit distracted but they mostly employ younger people so whaddya expect?

Dave Maley, Terry Peckham, and company have made Rollin’ Ice the model of recreational hockey in the SF Bay Area. I’ve been coaching the high school leagues back in the late 90’s and the high school league is run very well — just waiting for the next step in connecting it with the various school districts to make it a sanctioned high school sport.
I’ve been playing in the adult leagues for the past 8 – 10 years and it’s the best it’s been since Skateworld in the mid-​nineties.

Great rink to play in! They have three rinks allowing them to meet the demand of the numerous teams of all levels play there. They do seem to upkeep the rinks as the tiles are never left broken from week to week. The locker rooms and bathrooms are very well kept as well.
I like the free wifi and many flat screens with sports constantly on to kill time in between games. They have a great eating/​viewing area as well. best rink in the bay area.

Nice new rinks but the membership and team fees keep rising =(when will it stop. I enjoy playing here but it feels pricier every season.
The 3 rinks are still pretty nice with clear plexi-​glass running around the entire rink except the benches.
