Safeway

Yesterday date 7/12/21 morning like between 10-11 . I went to pick some medicine n I asked for a help to the lady who stacking in that isle she was sooo rude to me she said she can not help me coz I dropped the mucinex packet n put it back . She said I threw but I put it on shelf . I did not ignore if I dropped . She wanted me to put back properly . Ahhh n she is arguing with me that we people make their job difficult. She did not help me then I called Manager n told the story she helped me but that lady was yelling even in front of her . What an attitude ! N people with such attitude come to work in customer service . How can they get the business . ? Otherwise Safe way is always a pleasant place to go n shop . She messed up my whole day . Sorry for that lady ….

Pretty decent Safeway. Never had an issues. Pretty clean and friendly staffing. Normally cashier is just at self check out. Can’t be tough to get an assisting cashier.

It was very clean but I was helped by a worker who was very rude and unhelpful I don’t get how people like that can he jobs

I have been coming to this safeway as well as others in San Jose over the past 5 years since I moved here. Over the past few months I have really started to notice a change in this store. Employees are smiling more and the store seems to run much smoother. The new store manager Robert is great. Every time I come into this store he is always out in the aisles cleaning and organizing as he goes along. He has really started to turn things around. I have seen him in other stores before and the employees there were smiling and looked genuinely happy to be at work. I can definitely tell that it is because of him that this store is becoming better and better every day.
And to the review about him smoking out side the store. I am in this safeway at least 3 times a week and I have never seen him be rude and inattentive to customers. Even when he has been yelled at. And I have never seen him with a pack of cigarettes inside or outside the store.

This is my usually grocery story and I live very close to this Safeway but unfortunately I am not sure I want to go back. I called the bakery to place an order and they told me to call back they were busy and I told the person on the phone no I can hold because I need to place an order for that evening. So he placed me on hold for 3 minutes then hung up on me. I called back spoke to someone at the front desk and they said they will take my order and will take care of me and have a manger call me. I went to the store that evening and they gave me $ 5.00 of my purchase. They told me no manger was available and they took down my number and said he will call me tomorrow. Unfortunately tomorrow came and left. So one early morning I needed to grab something decide to stop at this Safeway and started talking to the cashier about my experience and she said Ill walk you over to the store manger named Robert and you can talk to him. So she did and let me tell you hes a complete idiot! I don’t know how he works for Safeway as the Store Manager. I started telling him what happen and he just kept looking into space and not looking at me. He just keep saying uh-​huh, uh-​huh the whole time and then basally I got no response from him when I was done and I just told him it was awful customer experience that I think he should be aware of and I hope it doesn’t happen again and all he said was Thank you for stopping by at Safeway. Then I go to my car load my groceries in my car and as I drive out of the parking lot that store manger Robert is standing in front of the store smoking a cigarette.

I like that particular safeway because I feel it’s cleaner than others. Less customers, friendly cashier clerks, and smaller that the Safeway on Almaden, therefore I spend less time doing groceries.

Very clean store & the girls in the Deli were awesome when I purchased a sandwich. I feel bad that I do not remember their names; but I was in the store on 02÷13÷15 about 12:30pm.

This is solely for their pharmacy. My husband and I went in last week to fill a prescription for a shoulder surgery that he just had. The pharmacist on hand was SO rude and unhelpful. She complained that she couldn’t read the prescribing doctors hand writing, as if that was our fault. she then went on to complain about how she would now need to call the doctors office (hi, its part of your job), but since it was 11:40 they were «probably» already at lunch, so she wouldn’t be able to call until 1:30 (wouldn’t even try), and then MAYBE have the script filled by 3. It was so obvious that this woman didn’t want to help us. So instead, we left, and drove all the way back to Santa Cruz (which we were trying to avoid) while my husband was in extreme pain, and got the prescription filled by someone who actually enjoys their job. Never again.

First time here and absolutely love it for readily available lunches. They have four types of soup ranging from 2.49-$ 3.99 a bowl. Great sandwiches too! And if you have a sweet tooth, they have donuts for 50 cents. Also a large variety of bagels. A man with the name tag, Richard N. checked out my items. The nicest dude ever. I think he told me to have a nice day like 10 times haha overall great experience!

This is for Katie/​Katlyn in the floral department. I brought in goodies for a basket. The basket is for a silent auction, in support of my 11 year old Niece who has a brain tumor.
Katie rocked it. It is so beautiful, it made me tear up. She even brought it to my car.

Worst Safeway. The closest store to my house and I only go when I absolutely have to. It looks nice when you walk in but there the fun stops.
Main gripe is that it’s just so poorly organized. I can never find anything. Dairy especially is scattered everywhere around the store. Is it too much to ask that the butter and cheese and milk and sour cream be approximately in the same area? Why is the prepackaged cookie dough in the produce section? Etc.
Dry goods selection reflects the demographics of the area, I suppose, but that means that I can’t find many of the more international items I find in other Safeways.
The produce is just OK, and what are you doing buying produce at a Safeway anyway? We live in the land of produce. Grocery stores should just give up.
Prices no better than anywhere else for a sub-​par shopping experience. I’ll spend my money at TJs (staples), Lunardi’s (meats & specialty), and produce marts.
Basically just disappointing unless you’re making a Doritos run. Good luck finding them!

If you absolutely needed an item that only Safeway carries.

So I come in for a sandwich go straight to the deli wait a good 10 min which I don’t mind bc it’s busy and I understand that. After waiting the person who helped me, Andrea was very unenthusiastic and I didn’t really mind but when she started rolling her eyes and walking away to get things for a minute at a time… I was beginning to feel like she didn’t care about me as a customer. It took her 15 min to make one sandwich. At the register she tossed my sandwich on the counter and yet another eye roll… If this happens again I will be talking to a manager in person. This is beyond bad service when I’m in a good mood trying to get food at Safeway expecting good customer and instead I just really wanted to leave because she made me feel bad for being there to get food. Id put more stars because I love Safeway but that service deserves no stars.

I have been shopping at this store for years and the clerks like Alma and Mary Ellen make the store pleasant to visit. The change managers every few years and some do better than others in keeping sale items in stock. The store is pretty spacious and was converted in to a lifestyle store many years ago so it is well lite with items easy to find. It is open 2 hours and even the night crew is kind and helpful and their job is harder because they are stocking the store in addition to regular service. This store is clean and safe and has a Starbucks, Netflix, Glacier Water, Lottery Vending, Coin Star, Parking lot recycling, and Wells Fargo Bank. It’s close to the freeway with a well lit parking lot.
I have had many cakes from the bakery and they are always very good and decorated well. They will even do special requests — with 24 hours notice– like creating a scene around your own personal cake toppers. I like them.

I don’t normally shop for groceries here except late at night because Safeway and 7-​eleven are generally the only stores open at this hour. I think they’re one of the more expensive places to buy groceries, but they do carry such a broad selection of items to make them convenient. Another bonus is the gas rewards, earning money off the price per gallon of gas at some stations in 10¢/gal increments depending on how much you spend in the store. They also have a standard of customer service because the employees generally treat customers with respect, pretty good.

Produce section was not very well maintained. There were lots of things on the floor and my son ended up slipping on a tomato and hurt his leg. There wasn’t an employee anywhere to be found on the floor, so we had to walk up to the front and tell a cashier, who didn’t seem too concerned. No one asked if he was okay… Be careful and watch your step.

Consistently short staffed– takes easily 15 minutes to find someone (who isn’t a checker) to help you find anything or answer any questions you may have. On more than one occasion, I have purchased items that were already expired– at least they’ll exchange it if you bring it back… This store also has a Starbucks, Wells Fargo, CoinStar, & Redbox!

The people there are pretty cool, and I love looking at the clearance area for cool stuff, including wine and beer, that if half off or more. I bring my bottles to the recycle place, and I do wish the staff was more attentive when they see no one showed up, especially since employees recycle there. Also, at the trailer, there were 2 male employees in a brown truck smoking
was very strong and I felt like I was going to throw up. They have a smoking area for a reason — USE IT!

I love going to this Safeway. Employees are very nice. This is the Safeway that I always go to so I can’t compare it to others but I think it’s pretty good. It’s always clean and organized. It can get a little crowded sometimes. The checkout lines begin to go into the aisles and it can get kinda crazy… But if you go on the right day, which I’ve learned is not Saturday or Sunday (duh), you can get your grocery shopping done quick and easy.
My favorite part is probably the Starbucks located inside. It’s so convenient! The staff there can be a little slow and unfriendly but there is one lady who has a great personality! Cross your fingers that you go when it’s her shift.
Anyhow, back to Safeway… the Bakery is great and so is the Deli. I wish there were more hours that the people in the sushi section worked. But if my sushi isn’t available, it’s nice having the deli there! The bakery has very nice cakes for any occasion. They offer some yummy doughnuts if you can go out early enough to get them while they’re fresh. Also, you can ask for a cookie and they’ll give you one. FREE. Who doesn’t love free cookies? I love the generosity and friendliness of this grocery store and I’ll always go here, without a doubt.

This will be my local Safeay, and it’s going to take some adjusting to get to, since I’m not used to where products are, which explained me going back and forth throughout the large store. But pros to this store than other Safeways are: a, Starbucks, b, Wells Fargo bank and ATM machines, and c, self-​checkout! The 3 additional things that make me happiest in a grocery store! Coffee, easy access to my money, and quick and easy checkout!

Ordinary safeway, nothing special, nothing terrible, no bad experience, no good experience, just an ordinary safeway experience. Fine with me.
