SGK and the window crew did an amazing job on our house! We had 5 retro fit windows, 11 new construction windows (3 are very large) and 1 new construction sliding door installed. Gocha and his team showed up on time and left our home clean at the end of every day. I’m sure our older home presented many challenges to the crew but they did an amazing job! The job took a week from start to finish.
I first found SKG on Unilocal,then our neighbor recommended them. Our first contact with the company was at the San Jose Home show in April. I would use SGK again!

I spoke to Lindsay today and she was the most helpful person ever! I would recommend if anyone does business with this establishment speak with her.

At the time I wrote my last review, I reached out to the company again to try to get matters corrected. I quickly got a call back from the owner, who scheduled an appointment to come out to my home to check out my concerns. He had someone out there right away to get things fixed. The guy they sent to do the stucco repair was awesome!!! Seriously, I don’t tend to gush about stucco work, but this guy did a fantastic job. Super smooth and blended perfectly with my wall. Then they had another guy come to re-​paint the area. Again, quality work. Looks great!
Happy to be able to enjoy my windows and I appreciate that they worked with my hectic schedule to get the work done. :)

Summary: adequate initial work, but *no* out-​of-​warranty support at all, at least on screen doors.
I had them install a new double-​pane back door on our house, in August 2014. They were a bit sloppy, and I had to supervise their work or they would have left the screen door not latching properly. However, after my repeated insistence, they adjusted it until it latched properly, and I was satisfied. The door *is* beautiful, and works great.
However, recently a racoon tore through the screen door! Definitely not normal wear-​and-​tear! The screen door only has a 10 *DAY* warranty on it… something to be aware of. So I called them up to see about replacing the screen, fully expecting to pay for it… only to be told that they don’t make ANY effort to repair or service their products once they are out of warranty! (later note: as noted later, this rule apparently only applies to screen doors)
I was surprised by this, as I expect any contractor who installs additions to my home, to be prepared to maintain the additions in the future if they are damaged. Note, this has *nothing* to do with warranties; if it’s out of warranty, I expect to pay for the work, but I expect the contractor to be prepared to assist me in some manner to solve the problem. To be flatly told that I was on my own, left a bad taste in my mouth, though perhaps others may not feel as strongly as I do about this.
Later note: after speaking with an SGK representative today, they clarified for me that it is only screen doors that they don’t support out of warranty. This is purportedly because they are fragile and often damaged. If the door/​window itself is damaged, they will handle repair of that. Fortunately, I haven’t needed to test this…

SGK recently installed New Vinyl windows in our Redwood City home. Luis Nunez and his installation crew were fantastic. They were on time, worked swiftly and cleaned up each day.
Victor did an excellent job with the Stucco work, matching the existing stucco on our home which was built in 1929. Edward the performance manager was here daily to oversee all phases of work. Everyone involved in this project was professional and experienced.

I got estimates from several companies and SGK was the lowest. Graham came out to talk me through the process with me. He and all of the other SGK employees I interacted with were a pleasure to work with. They installed 17 windows in one day, it was pretty amazing and we’re very happy with them.
Unfortunately, the city of Oakland wasn’t happy, and their inspector said we needed to replace three of them to meet egress requirements. Fortunately, I had asked SGK to handle the permits, and they explained how the city of Oakland sometimes changes its mind. When SGK submitted the permits they were aware of the egress requirements and they included all the necessary details, and the city approved the work, but when the windows were installed the city decided they were not adequate.
But SGK and Graham assured me they would take care of it at no extra expense, which is exactly what they did. I’m happy to say the relevant windows have been replaced and we’ve passed inspection and they didn’t charge me anything for the replacement. Thank you SGK.

We chose SGK after an extensive search (found them on Unilocal) not only for their expertise in installing new windows and doors but also because they were the only ones who had expertise in installing a NanaWall at a very competitive price. SGK recently finished installing several new windows in our 30 year old house, replaced a patio door, closed an existing window, cut out a wall to install a new window in our living room and finally of course install the giant NanaWall which was a complex task. The work involved complex structural work including installing a new beam, epoxy anchors into the foundation, tie in into the roof, structural load bearing walls, some electrical work, sheet rock, stucco and painting. Putting in the NanaWall is an even more specialized task and needs experience and patience to do it right.
Schedule: The project took a lot longer than originally forecasted (–1 star). To be fair, a lot of the delay was because we had to go through 8 Los Altos City Inspections and the El Nino rains.
Price: Very competitive. The company charged 90% of the total price when the material was delivered. Because this was very early in the project and the labor portion was high, this left us a little uncomfortable but there was no harm.
Quality: Excellent.
I want to highlight two people who were the key guys:
Evan Sprague: The initial sales person who also acted as the main contractor. He is very direct and knowledgeable about construction. He was the one who had expertise with NanaWall, his price quotes were reasonable. There were many surprises during construction (there always are), but he did not charge us extra. He did an excellent job at finding the right sub-​contractor (Marcos) who had the right expertise and made sure the project was done right.
Marcos Vega: The person who did most of the work single-​handedly, occasionally he had help. Very thorough and detail oriented, super nice guy. He even helped us out with unrelated plumbing emergency in our house. While the windows were a piece of cake for him, his expertise showed when installing the NanaWall.
Overall I would rate SGK a 4.5 stars if I could.

Salesperson did a great job showing me the options and pricing for sliding glass doors. I chose SGK over Brothers simply because of type of solutions offered (retrofit over new install) My experience has suggested that retrofit could be a problem waiting to happen 5+ years down the road with possible water leaks etc. One important question the salesperson asks upfront is will permits be pulled for this job or not, I chose not to pull them and that turned out to be not a great idea on my part.
The communication is mixed. Once the salesperson has passed on the paperwork to the office, you really don’t hear from him again. The office schedules the appointment and deals with communication thereon mostly.
I had 8 patio doors spread out over 2 buildings. We had a different crew come out for each building. During the install process we had to pull city permits (SJ inspector drove by and noticed activity), this did complicate things. One of the buildings which had exposed chicken wire passed however the other (stucco’ed) building failed because the chicken wire used to support the stucco was not the right gauge. The inspector requested the stucco be busted and the chicken wire reinstalled.
I had to pay for the additional demo and re-​stucco expense, I was fine with that, however the company should be installing always «to code requirements» The inspector also mentioned that the wood should not be visible, it should be covered by the waterproof paper which is the other reason he failed the install. If I had to fault SGK, they really should know the correct gauge wire to use for stucco, and apparently they did in one building.
Would consider using this company again, I would babysit the process, with verification happening often. I deal with thousands of repair dollars yearly, SGK was responsive to my needs, they worked to get things taken care of. They have a system, commissioned salespeople, salaried office staff and a team of installers that they can summon when needed, so things work out and move efficiently for the most part. They also have a reputation, if I made a stink regarding paying to re-​stucco, I could have saved the $ 600 but it was partially my mistake so I have to own my part of the mistake.
Will report again on this company after further evaluation and contemplation.

Competively priced and service performance above par. Replaced 7 windows and 2 sliders with minimum disruption and efficient clean up. Daniel and his crew replaced windows in the time promised and completed stucco work in a timely and efficient manner. Office coordination by Barbara and Deanne was above expectation and coordination among employees was excellent.
Very pleased with overall pricing, product, service and customer relations. Would definitely use them again.

Since my initial review, SGK has made every effort to make sure that all of my installation issues have been (or will be) taken care of to my satisfaction. They sent out a drywall person who fixed the drywall problems, offered to provide a housekeeper to clean the mess left by the workers (which I declined because the mess had been cleaned), and sent out one of their best installers, Mario, to fix the sliding glass door alignment issue as well as an issue with front door alignment and one of the window screens. It also sounds like SGK has taken steps to improve their customer service experience, including providing a «project manager» point of contact for future customers so that they don’t have to work through issues with the installation crew or sales rep, neither of whom has authority to make decisions or fix issues.
I can unequivocally say that if I’d received this level of service from the beginning, I would be a very happy SGK customer. It is terribly unfortunate that it took a bad (but completely factual) Unilocal review to get someone to pay attention to our project. We are still working with SGK and Milgard on resolving the final issue related to the broken window, and I am hopeful that it will be resolved to my satisfaction soon.
A few tips for future prospective customers:
(1) Make sure you know exactly what crew will be working on your project, and whether they have worked together previously. Based on my experience working with Mario briefly on repairs, I would have put off my project for a year or more just to get him and his team scheduled on my job. It turns out that our crew, while being experienced SGK installers, had never worked together previously, and it showed in the quality of their work product.
(2) Ask for a copy of the guidelines/​rules that SGK has put in place for the install crew, and make sure that they follow them. For example, I learned that there is (and always has been) a policy of no smoking on the job, which was not followed by the crew on my project.
(3) If any part of the project is not completed to your satisfaction, tell the crew to discontinue work and immediately escalate to Karen, Vlad, or another person at SGK who has authority to take immediate action.
It is worth noting that SGK did not ask me to take down my prior review, nor did they incentivize me in any way to provide an update to the review.

These guys are so great. They worked so hard and late to install our windows, even working through the rain to get it done and they did a terrific job. Very professional crew and the windows and our new french doors look wonderful. They just went above and beyond. For example after the side paneling was put in we realized our existing blinds wouldn’t fit and they just took the paneling down they had just put in and made it so our blinds would fit. They didn’t hesitate. The windows are very clean, they open and close and lock. They’re put in straight and just look super good.
There was a little bit of a scheduling issue early on but they cleared it up and the sales guy is also super knowledgeable and friendly.

I shopped around with a couple of different window replacment companies when looking to replace the windows in our home. Although I had received a cheaper quote from a different company, I went with SGK because they are very organized, timely, responsive, and friendly.
Their prices are very reasonable. They were always on time for the appointments and kept me up to date with the window order. The installation team was very considerate, professional, and performed high quality work. Highly recommended!

Initially was very pleased with the installation. 7 retrofit windows and a new construction sliding door. It took an extra day to do the stucco on the sliding door, but that was fine. A few months later, i noticed a hair in the caulking around one of the windows. I decided to peel it off and redo it. When i peeled it off and removed the trim, i noticed the huge space between the new window frame and the window opening was just air! «Thats not right», i thought. So i checked the other side and found the same thing. I decided to call them up and explain the issue. The woman who answered was helpful and made an appointment to come and insulate my windows. She even told me she would have the workers help remove an reinstall the blinds, which they wouldnt do on the initial installation.
Later that evening, i recieved a call from Vlad, stating that everything was normal and thats how they always do it. He promised to send me pictures to prove that they never insulate retrofit windows. I never recieved anything.
On the day of my appointment, they sent out a guy with a clipboard who told me that it was just how they install windows without insulating the outside edges. If so, then why did the woman who made the appointment say it wasnt right? A lso, everyone i have spoken to about this says they should be insulatedm even Milguard themselves.
It sucks to spend nearly $ 7000 on windows, and get jipped on $ 20 worth of insulation. Now i get to take a day off work to fix this shortcut they took.

After a year of major renovation of my 100 year old craftsman home we recently bought, I’ve had a lot of workers coming in and out of my home. SGK definitely stands out from the crowd. Needing to replace 15 windows, I found these guys in one of those magazines that come to the house with some promo just for fun, but didn’t expect them to be all that great. Boy was I surprised.
1) Pricing. The pricing they gave me was extremely reasonable — the price for windows + install, wasn’t much higher than I would pay for the windows alone (If I brought in my own worker, price would have been double).
2) Sales process. From the gals in the office scheduling the appointments, to Graham coming by the house, everyone was super friendly, responsive and professional. He was able to talk through the process and all the different options and styles in the most cost effective manner with my contractor father-​in-​law and keep him happy, which is no easy task.
3) Install. This is where they really shine. Working from home with a set of 2 year-​old twins running around a construction site, they were super considerate of keeping the house clean and working around the insanity. The finished most of the install on the first day, and then a guy came by the next day to finish things up. What was most amazing, is without asking me, he looked around our garage and looked through the dozens of gallons of paint to find the exterior trim paint to touch things up — waaaaay beyond the call of duty. (He also was super sweet to my kids!)
The other outstanding aspect of these guys is they always under promised and over delivered — from price, to timing, etc. which was extremely refreshing.

My husband and I just bought a new home and needed to replace very out dated windows. We set up an appointment with George to get an estimate on replacing them. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. We don’t know much about windows so he took his time and explained our options available. He was very professional and down to earth, I recommend asking for him. George did such a great job that we decided not to get a second opinion and order the windows through him. Once we had the order placed the business office was great with follow up on arrival and setting up the install. Thank you Karen for great customer service and getting a sooner install time. It took 2 days to install with Ceasar and his team that were professional, efficient, and cleaned up everything when the job was completed, to make it look like they were never there. Thank you SGK team for the wonderful experience.

SGK replaced all my windows in a remodel I did. There was a problem with the windows that were ordered. When I brought this to the owner’s attention, Vlad, he took full responsibility and made sure I was totally satisfied.

SGK solutions personnel have spent a lot of time and effort to ensure that all issues were resolved and that our window installation as well as changes we requested were all done to our satisfaction. I was glad to see their commitment and happy with the work done.

Very satisfied with our new windows and slider! My husband and I decided to replace all of our original windows and old slider to help improve energy efficiency as well as upgrade the look of our house. After researching several companies, we decided to go with SGK Home Solutions because of the reviews, offering of products and reasonable pricing.
We worked with Jaime Ledesma, who was nothing short of fabulous. During our consultation, he listened to our wants and needs and priced out options that fit within our firm budget. He walked us through the differences between brands and styles and helped us make the best choice for what we needed.
After the initial consultation, the measuring crew was out within three days and the order was placed promptly. When we decided to change out the style of one of the bathroom windows, the office staff was more than happy to ensure our changes were updated.
Installation took 1.5 days and the two man crew were professional and did an excellent job with tear down, install and clean-​up. Jaime called the next day to ensure that we were satisfied with the work and to see if there was anything else we needed.
The overall experience was very positive and we LOVE our new windows and slider. Not only are we saving $$$ on cooling and heating, but our house looks updated and beautiful! We will be recommending SGK Home Solutions to friends and family.
