Shoot Zombies Now

Zombie experience check in time is from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Our party of four arrived at 7:15 and waited in line for an hour. Upon checking in we were informed that we needed to purchase a limited amount of paintballs that would cost an extra $ 30 per person. They also had an option to purchase an extra round for $ 5.99 per person. NOT WORTH IT. DO NOT PURCHASE EXTRA PAINT. We were also informed at this time that there would be an additional 2 hour wait in line once we got inside.
We waited in line for over 3 hours. The staff was very friendly and kind enough to provide us with water and snacks while we waited.
When it was finally our group’s turn to enter the zombie experience our party of four was grouped together with about 9 other people. There were 7 zombies total through the entire 15 minute walk. The zombies came out one at a time. Picture 13 people shooting paintballs at one zombie. They did have a final wave of zombies which were the same 7 zombies shot at previously walking toward our group of 13.
Total fail. Not good. Not fun. Great idea but poor execution. They should rename it to «maybe shoot 1 zombie now» instead of «shoot zombies now».
*side note horrible bathrooms. Porta potty that hadn’t been cleaned in 3 days.*

A lot of hype for not a lot of experience, for a lot of money. Not. A. Deal.
(Not) Fun Factor: If you venture out to Shoot Zombies Now, be prepared for a very disorganized, lack lustre experience. This is coupled with a lllooooooonnnnggggg wait in line to get your tickets. And I mean long. LONG. L-​O-​N-​G. This will also include another lllooooonnnngggg wait to enter what they call the «experience» that is SZN. Total wait time to this dismal display was approximately four (4) hours for a 20 minute walk in the dark.
Now, for the experience after said wait. You walk with a group in the dark, accompanied by a guide with a blinding headlight, wearing a face mask (bring a bandana to protect your mouth and nose from whatever is living on that thing), and holding a special paintball gun. Now you are ready for the Zombie Apocalypse. Get ready… The Zombie total will be… (drumroll please)… Less than a dozen, likely less than 10. Yes, TEN. 10 Zombies for a group of 15, led by one guide. These were some sad looking zombies too… Meh. I mean, take a cue from The Walking Dead people. Put some effort into the costumes for goodness sakes!
Cost factor: Groupon for four, approximately $ 60.00, plus amo which will run you between $ 40 and $ 65 (Groupon price does not include amo). Due to our ignorance, we purchased the extra amo ($ 5.00 and change per person), which is VERY MUCH not needed. It is not needed since there was on average ¹⁄₃ zombie per person! I don’t even think my paintgun was shooting out anything!
But wait, it gets better. The guide told us that there would be a stampede of zombies at the end! Yes!!! This long wait would actually be worth it! Fail. The stampede was five zombies. Five. The same zombies that were taken down previously. What fun.
Restrooms: FOUL. REPULSIVE. WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I feel bad for the poor employees that have to endure those horrible conditions.
This place salvaged themselves by opening the Lazer Tag due to the long wait times. With two teenage boys in tow, this was very welcomed. Oh, and the employees brought us water and snacks (gratis) for the three hour wait. Joy. A water is all we needed when the restrooms were unusable. Again, beyond foul.
Conclusion: This place makes a killing in the pocketbook. With so many other Halloween events going on, save your money and attend some other attraction. Not worth the time, and not worth the money.

Would really fight for my money back, but according to Groupon this donates to Feeding America.
Tips:
1. Send someone to stand in line while the rest of your group is getting ready.
2. DO NOT buy the extra paintballs.
As much hype as they gave it unfortunately was so understaffed. Literally 7 zombies, 7 sad looking cheap masked Zombies. 4hrs wait for a 15min run through. Arrived at 7:30pm left after 12:00am We bought extra paintballs for $ 15 & for NOTHING! WASTE. Would have asked for a refund on my $ 15 extra (unused) paintballs but they closed by the time we were done. According to Groupon this was a $ 120 value??? Felt ripped off with spending $ 30 Groupon deal + $ 15 (unused) paintballs!
Yes, they gave us a heads up on the wait. But we had this weekend planned out weeks before. We came from out of town, so some of us got a hotel room.
1 star only because they gave free water & snacks while we waited. Also for the guys that stuck with their roll during the scenarios.

Okay I am giving 4 stars based on the customer service I received from the manager and Zombie experience. There was a great deal of frustration and downright rudeness that led up to my getting really upset and complaining.
Now I get that working at a paintball business isn’t exactly high paying nor is it a walk in the park which is why I did try to be cordial and understanding but the communication between customer and staff is really in dire need of re-​evaluation and then implementation of some solid training.
Signage is not large enough and when you are trying to corral a group of children and get them registered it can be really frustrating. Another item I want to point out is the hours sign was covered by the Halloween décor. So we did not know the paintball field was closed at 5:00 PM. When I pointed that out to several staff I was given the snotty teenager attitude. Along with a guy pretending to be a manager and that conversation did not end well either. When the manager came out and spoke to me we were able to come to an understanding and adjustments were made to the paintball portion of our package. We still had the zombie experience to tackle.
NOTE TO THOSE WHO BUY GROUPONS! the paintball equipment is different from the Zombie Experience. The zombie experience is a pump action shot gun and you only need to wear a face mask for protective gear. I strongly recommend buying your own because the loaners stink like face cheese. Dress in layers because it can get cold real quick.
Zombie Experience was perfect for our group. We were larger than 10 (14) and they accommodated us but I don’t recommend going with more than 10 because it takes away from the scare factor. Our ages varied from 9 years to 71 years and everyone loved it. The 9 year old confronted his paralyzing fear of the undead by delivering the first kill shot. The 71 year old as it turns out is a cold blooded killer and shot anything that moved (except us). The guide was fun and engaged. I recommend tipping your guide especially if you accidentally shoot them. Not saying we did that…
The walk through the maze took about 15 – 20 minutes and there were plenty of zombies to shoot. a couple of times we were almost overrun. It was dark and it was a bit scary but it was fun and we all wanted to go through again. Several of our group did go again and I think they were extended a discount for the second run. I seemed like it was the perfect amount of time because toward the end we were hunting zombies and no longer fearful.
We were there for the first weekend it was open and there were little glitches here and there but they did a good job on the hunt and all my guests were happy when we left.

First, I’m glad to see that someone at this place cares enough to respond to my review, and I do appreciate your comment.
While you are correct about the fine print stating that we have to pay for paintballs, it was assumed that it is for the future paintball admission voucher included in the package, not with the zombie shoot trailer ride itself. This is because when you look at what the zombie shoot trailer ride includes (from your website– the link provided by Groupon) it clearly states that it does include paintballs. Why were so many people surprised that they had to pay additional money if this was so clearly stated in the fine print? I’m sorry, but it wasn’t clear. All we got was a piece of paper that says you can enter, but if you want to shoot zombies, you need to pay up some more was what we found out after printing out the voucher. It isn’t unreasonable to assume that the zombie shoot trailer ride on your website and the one on Groupon is the same since you are making the offer.
As for opening on October 10, I don’t disagree with that. However, on Groupon, it was one of the dates that was advertised as valid for the $ 35 package. But when you went to buy it, that specific date says it is $ 45. Therefore, it is not consistent with what was advertised.
In addition, in the original email received after purchasing the package, there wasn’t a link to print out the laser tag vouchers. That was missing. After asking for it twice, the link was finally sent. The email with the link came on October 16. The voucher expired October 15. By the way, we didn’t find out about the laser tag expiration until after the link was sent. It gave us at most, one week to use (had we received the link in the very first email). That’s not enough time. And why is the paintball admission voucher (in which you have to pay additional for paintballs) expiration set for April of 2015? Why isn’t it the same for laser tag (the one thing that doesn’t require additional payment)?
So in the end, if I do the math, this is roughly what it comes out to:
$ 45 (for the package through Groupon)
$ 20 (for paintballs for the zombie trailer ride for two people)
+$ 40 (for painballs for the future paintball admissions for two people)
— — -
$ 105 minimum (for a $ 45 package)
I would have to actually pay $ 60 in additional cost if I used all the vouchers that were a part of this package deal.

TLDR; Definitely not worth it without the groupon discount and even then the attractions are bland and the scares are cheap. Paintballs NOT included with your purchase.

I honestly cannot imagine how anyone would be willing ship out the full price. Both events are only nearly 15 minutes, not including the horrendous wait time in between both attractions. Upon arriving to the Santa Clara paintball grounds, you’re supposed to complete a liability waiver on their little ipad thingers before you sign up for your attractions (although, how they truly know you’ve done this or not as they do not look anything up). You then head over to the windows and sign you and your group up for a time. These events are NOT consecutive; you’ll have to make due with a time slot THEY provide. So get here EARLY!
Zombie Trailer Ride: You basically get into the back of a trailer truck. The back is filled with a max of 10 available guns, so large groups, that’s pretty much your cap. You basically drive pass a few uninteresting scenes with zombies walking around. The actors are all wearing masks so it’s considered ideal that you shoot them in the head. Not really that fun to be honest; the zombies don’t go anywhere near the truck. This was like 10 minutes.
Urban Zombie Hunt: Definitely way more fun than the ride. Again, the cap on your group is 10. You’ll have a tour guide bringing you through a maze-​like set. On your way through zombies will come out of their hiding places and roar and growl at you like no tomorrow. They aren’t allowed to touch you, and again, the goal here is to shoot them in the head. For this event you’ll be wearing protective eye gear, which you’ll get to choose between a mask and goggles (take the goggles; the mask looks cool but it’s a nightmare to navigate in). The scares are exciting but cheap, and again, the tour only lasts for 15 minutes.
If you’ve got spare time and money to burn, Shoot Zombies could potentially be a decent way to pass the time. But despite the friendly employees, Shoot Zombies Now lacks a lot of thought and heart, and is definitely on the unorganized side.

TLDR: Horrible communication with patrons, not enough staff, unable to provide services in reasonable time frame.
Several of us with groupons went to this business last night, excited to shoot some zombies. We arrived at their opening time, 7PM, and found a line had already formed. There were no staff giving any directions, but some signs suggested we fill out waiver forms and then wait in line to redeem our vouchers. During this time, multiple people joined their friends in front of us in line while the group in front of us drank a pack of beer and multiple people were smoking weed in the dirt parking lot we were standing next to.
We waited in line for an hour. At no point did anyone from the event talk to anyone in line to give us any idea of how long we’d have to wait, but the line was moving, so we kept being patient. Once we got to the front (now 8PM) we were told that the next available slot was at 9:45PM, because other people had somehow already reserved the other spots. I don’t know if they were only running one set of people at a time or what, but to have people wait in line for an hour only to be told that in 2 more hours they would actually be able to participate is just ridiculous. Given that we’d already set up babysitting for a particular time frame, waiting that long to start the event (which we were told would take between 30 and 40 minutes depending on what parts you were doing) wasn’t going to work for us that night. We were told they were «running a movie» that we could watch while we waited, but no other accommodations were offered.
Undeterred, and still eager to shoot zombies, we asked about making a reservation for the following night the event was running. We were told they do not take reservations for this even and that we should just try to «show up early.» Given that we’d gotten babysitters for our children and shown up early once already this was the point where we gave up. We asked for a refund and were told they couldn’t process that for us there. We needed directed to contact Groupon to request one. When we told them that they should let the people in line know about the delay and they said «we’re thinking about doing that, thanks.» I don’t know why they couldn’t have better communication with the poor people waiting in line, but there must be a bunch of them who just wouldn’t be able to go at this point.

You are taken through a maze with a guide, while zombies jump out and follow you and you have to shoot them.
I really liked the whole thing! my only complaints are that I wish it was longer — lasted about 10 – 15 minutes and you only get 15 shots, then you would have to pay to reload.
I bought a groupon $ 35 for two people. I guess its worth it, not like you get to shoot zombies everyday or anything.

This is just for their Halloween attraction called Shoot Zombies Now. There are two versions of this: 1) zombie walk where for $ 20, you get 15 shots and walk around killing zombies, but they must be head shots to count or 2) for $ 30, a group of 10 gets to ride a trailer with mounted paintball guns that don’t really give you range of motion and you ride on the outskirts of the paintball stadium shooting zombies on lame set ups like a «cemetery». This was a waste of time and money.
We got there at 7:05 and the attraction runs from 7-​midnight. The line was already ridiculously long and it took 1.5 hours just to get time to come back for our attraction. We paid for the trailer type. So our group of 5 ended up on the last ride at 11:20. We left to eat and then we came back.
I can’t even describe how lame this whole thing was. I will never do this again.

I came here in October a couple weeks before Halloween with a big group. We are all fans of Walking Dead, as well as Call of Duty games, so we jumped at the chance at shooting zombies with paintball guns. The concept is PERFECT for Halloween and for zombie (killing) lovers like ourselves. This is a fairly new attraction that not many people have heard about, which made it even better knowing we were one of the firsts to try it out.
It takes place in a paint ball field (field? arena? not sure what they’re called) and it is outdoor. I’m not completely sure since I don’t know much about paintballing, but I think throughout the year this place is open for paintballing without the zombs. The place is huge… I’ll get into more detail about that later.
When you park, you immediately should fall in line because you have to do that 1) to buy tickets and 2) keep your place in line because they board you accordingly. It was FREEEEEZING when I went that night. Ok, I’m from Orange County… Southern California alright? I like to wear flip flops and sandals as often as possible. Anything below 65 degrees is freezing cold arctic for me. Anyway, with that said, I’m glad they sold hot chocolate on the premiss. It was nothing fancy, just the instant stuff, but it did help thaw me out. They also sold popcorn (microwavable kind), candy and chips. What was cool was that they had a big seating area with picnic style lunch tables and they had a huge projection screen showing the movie World War Z (totally appropriate for this place). I thought that was a nice touch.
While waiting in line, there’s a zombie that is sitting there waiting to scare people. I, as well as most people in line, thought it was a fake zombie, a dummy or mannequin of some sort. But no… it was REAL. The zombie scared my cousin while we were in line and she got so scared, she instinctively threw her hot chocolate on the zombies face! Luckily it was only warm by then… but she felt so bad for the zombie! It was very funny to everyone else though, including myself.
The line took over two hours… even though we made reservations ahead of time, it didn’t matter because we still had to wait. I don’t understand what the purpose of making a reservation was for if they don’t honor it. That was a bit annoying.
The attraction itself is very unique. You are boarded on a giant pick up truck type of car, not sure what the real name is. It has 8 – 10 seats, can’t remember exactly, with paintball guns attached infront of each spot. They load your ammo for you and inform you that you can purchase more if you run out during the ride. Extra ammo isn’t necessary unless you’re going totally ham on those poor zombies. The tour guide, or whatever his position is called, was very entertaining. He gave us a story line of how this zombie infestation happened and it set the mood for the ride.
The whole thing takes about 20 minutes. Only headshots «kill» the zombies. In my opinion, there were not enough zombies. Hopefully they increase the number of zombies next time around. Overall, it was fun and I’d like to try it again (as long as I don’t have to wait 2 hours again). This is a fun alternative to your typical maze/​theme park Halloween attraction.
**They also have a different attraction where you shoot zombies but you’re walking around with a small group of people through a paintball field. I’d like to try that one out next time! It might be more thrilling since the zombies can come up real close to you.
