My husband and I like very different mattress types. This was going to be out compromise. The salesman we dealt with was courteous, knowledgeable, and very friendly. He encouraged us to start looking at one of their top models and did not invite us to try any others. The 2 other salespeople there were doing the same, so there was a bit of a wait. Nevertheless we did love the product. It was comfortable and worked for both of us – yay! The salesman was very understanding when we did not want several of the offered features (as a cost saver) and we did not feel pressured.
We ordered the bed and we were told that we would receive a phone call within the next few days to let us know when delivery could be arranged. Here’s where things turned south. They quoted us more than 3 weeks out, which we were unprepared for, and at a time we could not be home without losing pay from work. When we requested a different time and day of the week, we were told that if we even had them check for a different time window, we would lose our current one.
We had no choice but to ask for a different time, and when they gave us the new quote it was nearly a month later, we lost our first day and time, and the real kicker was that it was for the same day of the week and the same time of day that they knew wouldn’t work in the first place! When we expressed that we could not make that work they didn’t even try to be helpful. We told them we would need to cancel the sale, and the guy on the phone said that he was sorry that WE couldn’t work with THEM.
So with our money back, we instead opted for a Tempur-​pedic from Sleep Train, paid little more than half what we were going to pay, and had it delivered within 4 hours.
So sorry, not sorry. We love our new bed. And we wish the sales staff well. They did a good job and it’s a shame they lost this sale due to another department’s poor service.

The service I received was excellent. Cal was very knowledgable and Briana was very helpful. My only concerns are the speed at which their computers run and the wait time for delivery. The slow computers required that I leave and entertain myself elsewhere rather than sit around and wait for a quote. The wait time for a bed is 8 weeks. No, I am not kidding.

I have to write the review cause I just received the worst service in my life.
I want to buy a pillow recently, so I walked into sleep number store in valley fair this afternoon with my boyfriend, no one came to greet us for a while, so we just touched the pillows on the shelf and the foam pillow seems quite comfortable. After a while, a salesman with beards and glasses in blue t-​shirt came to ask us if we are looking for pillow, I said yes, and expected him to ask me about my preference and introduce me the products, but he just stand there. I start to feel a little awkward, so I told him I was interested in the foam pillow, ask if I can take a look. He took the pillow off the shelf and give it to me, then be quiet again. So I just looked at the pillow, touched and pressed it with my hands while the salesman stand along us, waiting customers to buy an expensive pillow with just looking and touching. I’ve noticed there are a lot size options for that pillow, since I have some problems with lower back and spines, and I feel people with different figures should sleep with different sizes pillows, I asked him about the size, he answered me with another question «do you feel this one is comfortable?». Well, I do feel this one is comfortable, but probably another one is better for me. Anyway, I said yes, then he said «this is standard, it’s 5 inches,» then he point to the price list with him finger and said slowly, «this one is $ 139» then walked away. I was shocked by his attitude and left.
After I came home and read the reviews on Unilocal,I found other customers already complained the same guy months age (if not the same guy, then probably sleep number just like to hire salesman with bad attitudes). This guy doesn’t let customers feel welcomed, doesn’t brother to introduce the products, doesn’t even talk actively. I don’t understand why sleep number irritates customers again and again.

I don’t know why other people seem to have negative experience here, but Ronn is great, he’s nice and patient, and helped me get what I want. This is 5.

It was closing time, and my fiancé and I didn’t want to take the salesman’s time, a masculine presenting person with glasses, in presumably their late 20s to mid 30s, so we asked them if we could have a pricing sheet or brochure and we’d be on our way out. They directed us to their website because their «prices were there and it was easier.» I asked them, «You don’t have anything we can take with us?» It’s nice to have advertorials or print materials to review on hand to keep on the kitchen table or fridge for a while during the consideration process, you know?
They responded, «Sorry, we are running low.» To me, «running low» means they probably had something and for whatever reason didn’t want to relinquish it. I didn’t think my request was terribly unreasonable even for the time. I wasn’t trying to ask any other question or buy anything. We would have most definitely given them our business on another day had they helped out a little. I’m very disappointed.
I have worked in retail and with the public in other careers. I know how tough dealing with certain customers and patrons can be, and sometimes there is only so much you can do. Sometimes, you should go the extra mile for people. If they wanted our business, you would think they could have given us their card, or tell us their name and shake our hands while offering to help us another day. It was clear they did not take us seriously. We will not go back.

This is my first Unilocal review and I’m sad to say it has to be negative. I walked into the Vallyfair Sleep Number store this evening and was greeted by an unenthusiastic sales person. He seemed like as if I were bothering him with his quiet time! The customer service was well below par. He kind of answered my questions. I felt uncomfortable and left. I’m sure this guy can be a great sales guy however he could have had a bad day? I hope Les reads the reviews in hopes to understand customers perception of his service. My recommendation to other Unilocalers to go to another Sleep Number store so they wont be jaded as I am now.

I was in the San jose area a couple weeks back, and thought i would check out some beds. I’ve been thinking about trying something different due to back problems. I looked on here to see if it was a good idea, but Unilocal and its user reviews indicate that is not. I figure that i won’t even run into the guy the people are complaining about, guess who’s there? Lol i walk up to him expecting the worst. Les is his name. Immediately he walks up and greets my wife and i, lets us know the deals we got going on. I really don’t see anything these people were complaining about to be an issue. The guy was real cool and hooked me up with some good information. Anyway, i was thinking about buying a king size or cal king, but he explained that for price and sizes, a queen size is good fit for me. I told him i was just looking for now, and that i lived in Salinas, and im not sure if I’m gonna buy. The dude was cool about it, and gave me his info and told me to hit him up anytime. I didn’t feel like a money Bank at all, dude was straight up and cool. I ended up going with the king (despite him trying to save me money) cause I’m silly like that, and i wanted the room to roll around, lol. I’m making sure to send my mom to him this week. Thanks dude, you were awesome!
Update: Glad to see that the company cares about their employees. I was contacted by Sleep number customer service to thank me for my review and to let me know they would give the good review to the rep. Now that’s customer service!

Incredibly bad customer service. I didn’t ask for the price, and the sales rep told me the price upfront in an arrogant tone as if I can’t afford it. Later on he told me I can’t even sit on there to try it out. Oh well, I guess they want to push customers away, and so be it.

I should have looked at these reviews and stayed away. I ordered the sleep number I8, queen size. Sales Rep, Les, tells me the Queen size does has a half split and king has a full split. This is a gift for my folks, and their place only fits a queen size. When it came, no split. I specifically told him I want the exact one as the floor model but queen size. How hard is that? Should have said no split. and I would be on with it and looked at something else.
Called in their service dept. the following Monday and was told they don’t make the queen with a split.
I called Les back and he said just call the service and they would exchange for it. From the conversation, I was under the impression that it would be provided with no extra charge as it was misrepresented. Les’ exact words were, «they will make it right for you.» When I called, they said it’s another 1100 more to exchange.
I asked for a return, turns out, the «special program» Les put me on does NOT allow for return??? I was not told that.
Complete mis-​representation from day one. Sale person trying to make the sale and not disclosing all the details. Buyer beware!

It was time to replace my 14+ year old single-​chamber «select comfort» with a leaky air chamber and collapsed pillow top. I was happy to get 14+ years from a $ 2k bed, so I decided to replace it with a p6 dual-​chamber and complete SN bedding & pillows (lyocell). I went with the p6 over the i8 due to firmness and I was assured that the «cooling» mattress pad would cool almost like the i8 does. The sales rep at the store told me to call them first if anything did not work out and that all the bedding could be returned to the store. This was on ⁷⁄₅.
The entire purchasing process was a complete mess! It started with the sales rep entering the incorrect bed on the order. I caught his mistake the following morning as he added SleepIQ without confirming it. I called the store to have them correct the mistake and they told me that orders cannot be changed at the store once the calendar day passes.
The following business day (⁷⁄₇) I called customer service and asked them to correct the bed to what I wanted, p6 dual chamber (no SleepIQ). She had no clue and/​or their systems are so messed up that it took her 45 minutes to do this. The credit card charge had to be reversed (3 business day for the refund) and a new charge for the bed (immediately on my card).
After a few nights sleeping with the new bedding on the old SN bed the «cooling» was not cooling much. I have a high body temperature and there was little to no difference between the new bedding and the old, so I decided to «return» the «cooling» pad, pillow chamber, and change the order from the p6 to i8. After all, I was told everything was exchangeable and returnable.
I again called customer service on ⁷⁄₁₀ to change the p6 to i8. At least this time the rep was more knowledgeable about this process, but it still took 35 minutes. She told me that the p6 bed was entered in as a single chamber, good grief… So, if I did not call to change the bed to the i8, I would have been shocked during the installation. She took the balance from the old order and created a new order with a small price increase, which was immediately applied to my card.
That weekend (⁷⁄₁₂) I went back to the store to return the «cooling» pad, pillowcases and pillow chamber. The manager handled my order, but had no idea how to handle the exchange/​return/​purchase. All I wanted was to change the pillow chamber with a thinner one, return the mention items, and buy the lyocell pillowcases. He told me that the pillow chamber and pad are non-​returnable items. I immediately pointed to the sales rep that processed the original order «he said everything was returnable». The manager said he would do this as a one-​time courtesy. I left with a new order for the new items and 2 return orders for the other items.
On ⁷⁄₁₅ I checked my credit card to verify the transactions from the store and to see if the return from ⁷⁄₇ was processed… nope… Only the new charge from the store was there. I again called customer service and it took 10 minutes to re-​explain the history and the new problem. The issue was sent to the accounting department. I asked «why does the return from the store have to go through the accounting department?» The rep told me that the return was not entered correctly. By this time my patience expired…
I again called customer service on ⁷⁄₁₇ and inquired why the returns were not processed to my card and demanded they do so immediately. Finally, on ⁷⁄₁₈ I received an email with the return from ⁷⁄₇. The store refunds were not processed until 7÷25…
Later that day, I received an email stating that my delivery date would be arranged in 2 – 3 business days. I called on ⁷⁄₁₈ to setup my delivery date only to find out that SN was going to ship both the p6 and i8 beds. Part of me wasn’t going to say anything, but I decided to honestly tell them that the p6 was a return and the i8 is what should be delivered. This took 10 minutes to straighten out. The rep and I decided on a delivery date of ⁷⁄₂₄ between 3−6pm. I made arrangements with work and daycare to be home during that time.
Two days from the delivery date I received an automated call confirming the delivery on ⁷⁄₂₄ between 9a — 12pm… not what I agreed to, so I was connected to a rep that told me time frames are not guaranteed and that they should not be communicated ahead of time as this is decided 2 days out based on the availability of the delivery team. I explained to the rep that this is the only time I was available and made special arrangements for this time window. He had to make special arrangements to make this happen, but he accommodated my request.
Finally, on ⁷⁄₂₄ the bed was delivered within the window and when the delivery team said it would. This was the ONLY smooth part of the entire process. After all of this hassle and stress I finally slept like a baby again on a new i8. So, will I go through this hassle 15 years from now when I replace this bed? It is not likely…

I am writing this review because I received excellent service at Stevens creek Mancini’s sleep world. I described the dream bed I was buying for my dad to the salesperson and he delivered! I needed this bed ASAP, and it was out for a next day delivery.
I recommend this store to anyone looking to get good value for a bed.

So I would go ahead and recommend Sleep Number

I am writing this review after going to the store, leaving without buying, understanding that the salesman works on commission (we had this conversation upfront so we were both clear on expectations) and doing my research before entering the store and for a few days after leaving the store, but before I agreed to purchase a bed. I can’t imagine buying something so expensive without doing a lot of research, then getting upset with something that would have been discovered by a simple google search. This is a high-​end product, so if you don’t want to spend that much money, you shouldn’t go here. Perception really is an individual process, so I will speak only to the experience I had, not opinions based on anything else. Anyhow, with all that being said, my husband and I had a fabulous experience with Ron Deas. Poor guy, we did our research and then came to the store and made him stay an hour past closing to finish answering all our questions and trying every bed. He never even mentioned the time, but it was around 10pm before we left. We really put him through the ringer. Ultimately, the interest free financing and 50% off sale on the ILE put me over the edge. Since we live 6 hours away, I competed the paperwork, but made him wait two more days before I allowed him to complete the sale so I could finish researching issues and opinions from friends who have a Sleep Number bed. I found that people either loved the quality of these beds, or hated them… not much in between. We decided to buy the ILE Cal King bed, and love it. For an extra $ 100, they actually delivered it all the way to our remote Northern California town. The two guys that showed up to deliver the bed were fabulous. If I owned a business, they are the type of people that I would want to represent me. Overall, I think these mattresses aren’t for everyone, but for those for whom it works, it works well. We’ve been very pleased, but may not have been so pleased if we weren’t already a bit enlightened to several of the issues before we went into the store. I would recommend that you read the contract and the warranty BEFORE you purchase so you’re not caught off-​guard about the contractual obligations for both the buyers and Sleep Number. I read many, many reviews online from folks that wouldn’t have been as surprised with their experience if they actual read their contract before they purchased their mattress. An example would be the return shipping with the 30 day test period and the pro-​rated warranty. Thanks Ronn and team, for doing a great job and taking the extra time with this high-​maintenance consumer!

I walked out of the store 3 minutes ago and I can’t stand to leave this Unilocal review lingering any longer.
Upon our arrival we were met by Cal. He appeared to be the manager. We laid on a bed and set our sleep numbers, as we’ve been in and out of Sleep Number stores recently, and Cal immediately began to haggle us for a sale.
We are aware that SN offers 48-​month interest free financing throughout the year and we were comparing beds ONE last time before we pounced on the deal. However, as soon as we told Cal this, he walked away and we were then approached by Igancio. Now, Ignacio was great! He small-​talked us a bit and then said he’d go grab a calculator to help us determine if we could leave the store today with a new mattress. Sounds great, right?
Enter stage left: Cal
While Ignacio asked for a calculator, Cal (hardly) whispered to him, «don’t bother with them, you’re just gonna get yourself in trouble.» We were in earshot of this conversation as we were in the bed directly adjacent to the register where the two men were standing.
Fortunately, we already found Mary at Oakridge mall who has been nothing short of amazing in putting us in a Sleep Number. This being our first time in the Valley Fair location, it’s a good thing we had such a vastly different (better) experience at their other location or we would have quickly scratched the idea of owning a mattress from this company off of our list.
Sure, were young. But we are college graduates, full-​time employees and have great credit scores. We left feeling discriminated against for our ages and (perceived) status. Ignacio was tremendous, and as we walked back in the store to collect the business cards of the employees for this review (and for our call to corporate tomorrow) Cal refused to hand us his card, while Ignacio, generously offered us his business card and thanked us for our interest.
Ignacio was a grade-​A salesman and employee. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to perform to the best of his abilities and that’s unfortunate for him and for this location.
Although this is a more convenient location, I wouldn’t even buy a pillow case cover from this Sleep Number.

Great selections, you will likely find what you want.
Lots of coupons/​discounts online, sales person won’t tell you.
The sales lady is not a happy person. She tries to avoid even a little tiny extra work.
The sales lady ordered 2 incandescent bulbs without telling me.
Charge is $ 3.25, and she was so lazy/​reluctant to take them off the bill.
She told me I can return them next time I come.

Overpriced, Underwelmed. It’s was like camping in my bedroom. I suspect they tweak the floor models to make them better than they actually are.
Do your homework folks. I ended up at Mancini’s with a much better Simmons mattress and awesome customer service.

Despite this location being closed, I thought I would share our Select Comfort/​Sleep Number experience. I care to write before getting into it, great concept, horrendous implementation.
We purchased a Sleep Number Model 7000 (Queen sized) in 2008. About a year later, we noticed sliding toward the middle. After investigating the issue, the bed frame was found to be sinking ½″ in the middle. In the process of checking out the sinking feeling, we noticed the internal parts were badly damaged from mold — a known problem by Select Comfort.
We contacted Customer Support as well as writing directly to the president of the company. Our damaged components, including new frame components, were replaced quickly, and Customer Support assured us mold issues were resolved and the bed frame was redesigned. The representative lied — the bed frame was constructed from the same old plastic, same shape, same mechanics. Nothing changed. We hoped the mold was taken care of at least. I had to make center supports for the frame to circumvent frame warp.
About a year later, we were curious… Do we still have mold? Sure enough. We opened the bed and there it was, water stains on the bladders, mold on the surrounding components. We thought we would be smart and enclose the bladders in a anti-​allergen encasement, the kind that one would put around a regular mattress. When I shared this issue with Select Comfort, they tried to tell me they don’t recommend a liner and therefore the issue was our problem. We found mold OUTSIDE the mattress liner. Not much argument there…
Our request was to return the defective product for a full refund. It took a few phone calls and a letter or two not only to Customer Service, in addition, to the Select Comfort President. We were refunded our money and supplied prepaid shippers to send the entire bed back to Select Comfort.
The recent marketing campaign by Select Comfort targeting seniors is cause for concern. With the product mold unresolved, and mold being known to contribute to respiratory issues, it is a recipe for bronchial problems if not resolved. I’m no doctor, but 2 + 2 still equals 4. If you have seniors in your family who have a Select Comfort product, please make them aware immediately.

Went here with a friend, and she signed up for their mailing list. A few hours later, the guy who worked there (named Bijan) ended up taking her number off of the paper she signed up on and texted her, trying to hook up with her. Talk about inappropriate!
