I have never encountered an agency that has bent over backwards and advocate for their youth. They work on advocating for underprivileged youth. The programs include group homes and transitional aged programs for those over 18.
This agency has been around since the 70’s and has an amazing way of reaching out to their kids.

I came to inquire about being a foster parent at this facility. They were very upfront with me about the expectations of being one. The types of kids serves in this program varies from wards of the court to probation kids. I was able to get a better understanding of what types of things i needed to do before getting myself into a world i knew nothing about.
these people CARE about their kids and take a lot of steps to ensuring that their kids are given a fair chance at their placement.

S.T.A.R. Programs is not run the way a Extended Foster Care program should be it is set up to downgrade Extended Foster Youth’s full potential. I moved in on Christmas Eve, and got kicked out a few weeks after. The Program Coordinator, Matt Feske is a ass, He was disrespectful and even made his own staff cry. The staff are kept busy by his checklists and he uses fear as a way to motivate people. The night they kicked me out he had his staff team present and used his words from their mouths as a way to confirm his persecutions and keep himself looking truthful and maintain his appearances as a program coordinator. Essentially his staff team is just a tool for his decisions. He stole my +$ 204 Cell Phone from my hands and kept it for himself. He also is paid to cover up the lack of maintenence on the properties owned by S.T.A.R. Programs. He is obviously out of his element and on a power trip. This isn’t the way a THHP+FC program should be run and everyone knows it. He also kept my Samsung Galaxy S, Nokia Windows phone, and the radio they gave me for Christmas. Which we as foster youth dont get much to begin with. This ISH needs to stop, and it will keep continuing to happen if we supply them with Extendended foster youth. There are many other programs willing to take them with a better environment. We dont have much and to go to this place ends all possible future for a decent life. Not to mention we all have to have a job in the program and when we get dropped from it we have to start over in a new area and quit whatever job we started. SUGGESTION TO ALL SOCIAL WORKERS: PLEASE DONT SEND ANYONE WITH SOMETHING GOING FOR THEMSELVES THERE. Thank you and I hope you read and help us Foster Youth have a better future and if your heart isn’t all there don’t start somewhere you can’t finish. I have been in the system since 6 years old. I hope, and believe that problems will fix itself, but really anybody can help if you believe in helping us as a whole.

This is the worst housing program I have ever experienced, The Staff are verbally abusive, Disrespectful, Discriminating, lazy, untruthful, and don’t allow people to make their own life choices. I was denied multiple case managements and cussed at for an hour. They told everyone not to believe me and that I am a liar, haha. Either you tether to their mediocre ideals or you get kicked out, I was in this program for more than a year and never got positive reinforcement. not even once. Everyone is treated like a small child regardless of their age, background, or personality. You will get no freedom or support. and trying to express yourself or have concerns and you will be laughed at and failed from the program. They falsified Incident Reports. Spread Rumors about the residents. And the Executive Director is too cheap to do maintenence or pull his head out of his ass the only time anything ever gets fixed is when licensing cracks down. If you want no one to believe or listen to you, If you want to throw your life away. S.T.A.R. programs is where you would do it. Also a family-​run non-​profit making a profit is a joke. Oh yah I was also refused when I told staff I have medical issues. The use old fashioned techniques to run their program that don’t work and seem to congratulate when people who make bad decisions in life and get mad when someone wants to change their life for the better. Oh and they hire a landscaper to come in every week take a shit in the bathroom, sleep in the backyard, and tear up the lawn. The Program Coordinator is too aggressive, rude, verbally abusive, has no regard for regulations and is a class act of someone with zero professionalism.
