TechShop is a playground for creativity. There’s something here for everyone. Part fabrication and prototyping studio, part hackerspace, part learning center, TechShop offers access to over $ 1 million worth of professional equipment and software. We provide comprehensive instruction and expert staff to ensure you have a meaningful and rewarding experience. Most importantly, TechShop is a hub where you can explore the world of making with the motivational support of a vibrant and creative community.

What We Offer

Each of our facilities includes laser cutters, plastics and electronics labs, machine shop, wood shop, metal working shop, textiles department, welding stations, and even waterjet cutters. Members have open access to all the design software you could need, featuring the entire Autodesk Design Suite.

History

Established in 2011.

TechShop San Jose celebrated our 1 year anniversary this past September with a bang! Our location officially opened 9÷22÷2011, and we have been growing as a part of San Jose ever since! We are one of several locations around the country, with our founding location in Menlo Park that began operations in 2006.

Meet the Manager

Raffie C.

Manager

Raffie is responsible for the growth and sustainability of TechShop Mid-​Peninsula (TSMP) and TechShop San Jose (TSSJ). Under his leadership TSMP and TSSJ has expanded the service offerings of TechShop as a whole to the community. Piloting STEM and STEAM Education for youth and creating partnerships with education non-​profits to give greater opportunity to people of all ages. Raffie grew up an entrepreneur and engineer, he held the position of Vice President of Operations at the age of 14 until his retirement from Colet Special Vehicle Design at the age of 30. Raffie went on to careers in several areas including startups, VOIP/​ISP, Renewable Energy, Real Estate Development, and Fitness before coming home to TechShop.
