It was my first time here getting my brakes done. I took in my 2012 Honda Civic for brake service. The overall service was great and the staff was very friendly. The pricing was pretty decent and a lot better than dealership prices. It only took an hour to replace the brakes on my car. I’m definitely coming back here to get my car serviced again.

Thanh is great. The way he runs the business is how the auto shop should be and unfortunately not all of them are. We’ve been using his services over several years and multiple cars, and he was always fast and honest and fixed exactly what needed to be fixed and did not try to sneak in unnecessary services or overcharge. When I come there, I can be sure if it costs $ 15, I’ll be charged $ 15, and if the bill is $ 500 it’s because that costs $ 500 and maybe more than that at other places.
Besides that, Thanh has surprised us numerous times by doing the repairs the same day even though the shop is obviously busy.

I brought my car here last year because of a bad wheel bearring. Came here to fix but what happened was awful. After having my car back and driving it for a week the wheel bearring broke again. And I work before in the Automotive Industry, check it myself and found out they replace my wheel bearring with a used one. Came back to the shop ASAP! Ask to show me my bearring that they replace but after opening the seal. Found out that my old wheel bearring is better than the wheel bearring that they replaced!

This place is alright and the owner and crew are great. I cancelled my appointment with the Mercadies dealership and had my work done here after the guy gave me straight answers before doing the job. The other crooks like Skips tires and Beshoff dealership already ripped me off in the past charging high prices for repairs. This guy does not play games, their are no hidden costs or jacking up prices at the end.
I will return tomorrow with my other car that is in need of an honest mechanic.
If you ever go to any auto dealership and they want to charge you for looking at the problem,
Stop, turn around and never go back. They don’t want to help you, all they want is your money.

It pains me to say this because I have used this shop services for brake replacement and had a really great experience.
But this needs to be written: this shop is horrible about communication and dealing with claims. I dropped off my vehicle at 10 AM Wednesday and heard absolutely nothing about a diagnostic all day. My fan had been running for an extended amount of time after I would shut the car off and so I figured there was a sensor problem. I attempted to call numerous times and there was no answer. Finally at 4:30 I got through and Thanh had no idea what was happening with my car. I obviously, at this point, needed to get a rental car but without a claim number for the car service, my vehicle service /​insurance company (CNA National) would not be able to approve me for one. At 5:10, Thanh had a claim number for me, but I still had to pay for a rental car out of pocket until CNA National’s office opened the next day.
In any case – still no calls and no information all day yesterday. CNA National called me and said that THEY couldn’t contact Thanh either and, therefore, could not continue to approve a rental car without any updates on my vehicle. Finally at 6 PM, Thanh answered my call and said the car STILL wasn’t ready and that he would call me today.
I am still waiting on that call today. Phone keeps ringing as I am in the dark about my car. This is absolutely ridiculous at this point – all for a faulty sensor.
EDIT: Got my car at 11:30 AM. CNA national said that there was only 2 hours worth of service logged for the car. 2 hours of service but it took over 48 hours for me to be allowed to pick it up. I am super disappointed and will be finding a new mechanic.

Very honest mechanic! He only repairs parts that needs repairing/​replacing and won’t push for services that are not needed. WAY better than going to the dealership and at a MUCH better price.

To build TRUST AND HONESTY to customers are very difficult. But, this place has all of those good things. I strongly recommend to anyone who mistrusts most of services like me tries this shop and you will 100% satisfy with their high quality of the works at very reasonable prices and care for any customers.
Thanh and his mechanics are professional, friendly and honest services that you hardly find any other places like this in the Bay area. It’s my first service here and would be my best ever compared to other shops that I had been with. My whole families, friends, and I will have a service here without worrying about dis-​honest of making up for extra charges or things that you do not expect to be charged.

Thanh needs to send out a thank you note. Not to me. But, to the bitch at the Honda Dealership! Whoa. Where did that come from? Here’s where…
My wife normally takes her Honda CR-​V to the dealership for maintenance (exact dealer will be nameless). General customer service has taken a hit over the years. To make a long story short, the last time, the girl essentially berated my wife. Because of that, we left without doing maintenance. But, we still needed to do it. I checked Unilocal and found mostly glowing reviews for Thanh. A little out of the way, but I am always more than happy to take my business a few extra miles away for good results.
I called and Thanh himself answered the phone. He gave me a rundown of what needed to be done. I asked if he recommends anything besides the basic services. Instead of throwing a few things on to the estimate, he told me he doesn’t want to add anything until he takes a look at the car. Wow. Just wow!
I made an appointment for Saturday and took my car down. He was pretty swamped, but because I made the appointment, I was able drop it off and have my Über driver pick me up right away. After 2 hours, he told me I should change another belt. It was another $ 75, but it didn’t break the bank. All-​in-​all, compared to the dealer estimate, I saved myself over $ 500. And, they actually did more than the dealer was planning to do! When I picked up the car, I was actually running late. He waited for me, just so I wouldn’t have to come back the next day. Talk about going the extra mile!
However, there was one downside: the parking lot was insane! The complex is full of other auto shops and everyone went down there because it was a Saturday. Not only that, for whatever reason, about half the spots were «coned» off. Luckily, I was able to find one during my 3^rd round around the lot.
Whether you’re looking for a place to do maintenance or need some repairs, Thanh’s is the place to go!

Thanh is BY FAR the most HONEST mechanic shop owner I have ever met. I’ve been taking my cars, my mom’s cars, my girlfriends’ cars there over the past 8 years. His prices are the lowest and his quality of work is very superior. A few times, he actually gave me some money back because he said the parts cost less than he initially estimated. Love the guy. And he’s a very friendly and personable guy too. Damn, I hope he never gets out of this business. I would hate having to find a new place for auto services.

I brought my 2003 BMW 745 LI info service because the computer read an emissions related fault after the car backfired upon ignition.
I was initially concerned because most reviews were for non-​German cars. However thank was very professional, called with regular updates, did not try to upsell me on anything and charged very reasonable rates.
My car needed a new emissions cool and spark plugs. Work was done on time and the car has been running great for the last few weeks. I would have no issues taking any of my cars to Thanh in the future!

Great customer service! Very helpful guy! I wish this place did collision too. I will definitely come here for any auto repair needs.

This place is great! Thanh is such a nice guy and he and his mechanics get your car fixed in the time quoted and cheaper than most places. I had my air conditioning fixed here, which could have been an expensive job, but Thanh was able to get it up and running for a reasonable cost. I will definitely take my car back here again! I’ve been coming here for about a year now. Thanh and his team are great. I learned about Thanh through my Pastor. I’ve brought my car several times to Thanh’s and he would first look to see what the potential issues were. A couple of times already, he worked on my car and thought it wasn’t anything major, and he didn’t charge me for it. We have another car which is brand new that we take to a dealership because it came with the warranty. The dealer was asking us to do some work on the car and was charging us $ 500. I called Thanh and outlined what they were asking to do. Per Thanh, one of the services was not necessary and after that, Thanh charged me like $ 80. I recommend Thanh to everyone I encounter when it comes to looking for a repair shop. Thanks Thanh for your service!

Thanh is an honest mechanic and business owner.
I took my father’s 05′ Toyota Camry here for service after the transmission wouldn’t park the car and loud grinding noises could be heard when making turns. The car was involved in a previous accident just so you know. Well before towing the car, I thought the service was going to be a $ 3 – 4,000 job because an auto transmission is expensive to repair. I had the car towed to Thanh’s because I trust him. He and his team inspected the car and within a few hours he notified myself that only the left axle was broken which will only need a replacement and that no additional service was necessary. He even educated me on the broken part. The total came to just under $ 280.

Thanh is so knowledgable and honest when it comes to what your car really needs. Another auto shop quoted me for twice the amount! After Thanh inspected my car, he explained to me what needed to be done right away and what could wait. I needed new brakes and radiator. He had my car ready in 6 hours. He provided quick, reliable service. I will definitely be back with all my auto needs!

Thanh is great. straight to the point. I bought a used car for my son and took it in to get a full diagnostic test. He found some problems, fixed them, tuned up the car…$ 1000 later we have a great used car, runs great! For $ 1000 I got alot done believe me it was a great price. The work was done within 3 days.

Thanh goes above and beyond to make his customers happy. I’ve had the shop work on two of my vehicles and am always quoted lower than anyone else here and don’t lose any quality in service. They care about repeat business. I will continue to come and suggest friends and family to go to Thanh too.
Communication is good and I really enjoy the going above and beyond service. My truck was in over the weekend and I needed it for work on Monday but couldn’t make it on time before they closed on Saturday. He came in on Sunday so that I could get my truck back in time. You have earned my repeat service.

Made an appointment for 8:30 to get my oil changed before work. He took my car to the back and started right away. It is now, 9 am and they just finished up! He was very nice and reasonably priced :)

I was pretty down about a repair my car needed and when I had contacted my dealership they weren’t willing to work with me. They were more than happy to sell me a part for whole price which is understandable but hardly worth it. Then the dealership put me on a waiting list just to get seen.
Then I went to Thanh’s Auto Repairs and I was more than happy with the way he took the time to assess my repair and provide feedback. First off when we first met he shook my hand, and walked me to my car. This is important to me because as a customer I expect manners to be free of charge. He recommended a way of getting my part cheaper and is going to install it this week. I honestly like the way I was treated, the fast feedback and above all else the way he made sure that my wallet didn’t feel the hurt from the repairs. Great service, and good people. I wish other dealers could take some notes.
