The Harker School

Great school, solid community, wonderful teaching and very involved staff. All around great experience! So many options for after school and wonderful feedback from teachers and staff. Couldn’t be happier with our experiences.

Our daughter is a Kindergarten student at Harker and is thriving. She loves her teachers and various classes — which includes language, computers, character development, STEM, art, music, gym, social studies, violin, gymnastics, and even cooking! I am incredibly impressed by everything she is learning at such a young age, and the fact that she is truly loving learning in itself!
There is a reason Harker is a top-​rated school in the *country*. Her father and I cannot say enough good things about the amazing, well-​rounded education she is receiving.

My daughter had an amazing experience last year (2014) summer. It was her first year at Harker Summer camp. Just to be clear my daughter does not go to Harker but we wanted to experience the amazing programs and try them out. We could not have been happier. She had an amazing time. English and Math class during the morning and then Dance and Science in the afternoon. Between all of this, there was swimming every other day two fields trips and all kinds of amazing crafts and games. What eight-​year-​old girl would not love that! I look forward to her going again this year.

When I attended Harker’s Cookies and Kindergarten event, I was very impressed with the facilities, as were most parents on the tour. The beautifully maintained grounds include a huge swimming pool, impressive theater and gym, dance room, music and art rooms, fields for sports, large play structures, basketball and tetherball courts, large library, well equipped computer lab, and separate play and lunch areas for kindergartners. Harker is clearly a nice option for parents seeking a well-​rounded educational experience.

I attended Harker for 9 years. When I graduated I felt my education was more advance than my peers and prepared me for highschool. The education is top notch, the sports programs are competitive and the afterschool supervision allows working parents a safe and educational environment for their kids to enjoy unitl pick up time. The teachers care about each student and the development of their education. I am looking forward to sending both my kids to Harker in the next few years.

What a wonderful school! My son finished Kindergarten here, and is now in 1^st Grade. He loves school and always impresses me with what he’s learned. We’ve been particularly happy with the emphasis on deeper conceptual understanding of material, so it’s not just rote memorization and regurgitation. Word problems were a significant part of Kindergarten math, and I’m positive I wasn’t doing word problems that early when I was a kid. The teachers and administration are very receptive to feedback and concerns that inevitably crop up during the school year. We’ve been happy with the way they’ve handled issues, and clearly customer service is an important part of their philosophy.
Tuition is on the higher range of private schools, but in this case you truly do get what you pay for.
