Established in 2006.
Thea Mediterranean, named after the Greek goddess and mother of Helios, is located along San Jose’s Santana Row. This sophisticated and stylish restaurant is as rich and varied as the Eastern Mediterranean culture from which it is inspired.
Thea Mediterranean’s interior sets the stage for a culinary adventure that is simultaneously welcoming and unusual. Designer Chuck Thompson, of Thompson Planning & Design in Larkspur, California, drew his ideas and inspiration from recent travels through Greece and Turkey with Thea’s owners, Eduardo and Sylvia Rallo. Thompson took note of architectural and design elements (like color, textures, and materials), evocative of both modern and ancient Greece, as well as of Turkey and the many neighboring cultures.

The inspiration behind Thea Mediterranean’s tantalizing dishes comes from a celebration of Mediterranean cuisine, spotlighting the wonderfully varied Greek and Turkish influences of the region. The culinary team spent time in Istanbul and Athens in order to create a menu that reflects the terrain’s unique flavor profiles. Classic cooking techniques are further combined with fresh traditional ingredients to give the food an authenticity not often experienced.
Thea’s menu is a reflection of uncomplicated, well seasoned foods kept true to each region’s cuisine. The artful blending of traditional, everyday Mediterranean ingredients, such as olive oil, lemon, garlic, tomatoes, and herbs like oregano, mint, dill, and basil make these dishes distinctly Greek and Turkish. Diners will also find a medley of mouthwatering fish and shellfish items, reflective of the surrounding Mediterranean Sea’s bounty.
